Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Meditation is the best route, for relieving stress and clearing the mind, the shaman I met in Daegu said, it's like restarting a computer, to clear up the data and focus. There is also Tai Chi, to help either the muscles to loosen up, or to relax the nerves at the end of the day, I learn Tai Chi back home in Houston, but in South Korea, there would be huge Tai Chi ceremonies, before they would go to work. The prayers that do exist are for honouring the ancestors, to give thanks to a family member for their love and success, thus encourage new family members to be equally loving and hardworking. This would take place at shrines, where tombstones are placed, there would be incense burning and paper folding, paper containing a poem, then would be placed like a ribbon next to the tombstone, in Taoism, prayer is for mourning, and is used for the living to remember their family member, and to be a better person, however music and songs are used for generating good faith and closeness with other people, traditional music, but it is really nice to hear a guzheng or a gayageum in person.

Right, I know how to meditate. It's one of my more frequent activities. Plus I do Tai Chi's counterpart Kung Fu and are trying to learn Tai Chi itself. Forgive me if the comparison is crass from a purely Taoist perspective. Now I know there are sects of Taoism that recognize a transcendent reality, the Tao itself being the order of all reality eternally in a cycle of destruction and renewal, but let me ask this. Doesn't Taoism seem rather humano-centric? The emphasis, more from your description than my own research, seems to be on us and how good we are. Almost like we at the entire point of physical existence. Am I reading this entirely wrong?

I think I get it. Mind if I were to PM you sometime in the future should I have any further questions about Taoism? Just don't want to bog the thread down with only two guys going back and forth.

Absolutely, PM me anytime, I'll try to answer it expediently, and as well as I can, nevertheless, this has been a great conversation.

And  here I was just thinking the other day the freaked out look on Joseph's face when an angel poofs in front of him.

The "uh oh, imma die" look, of thinking he's about to end because of thinking over leaving Mary behind quietly

lol

Hahaha just seeing an angel spontaneously show up would scare anyone, but yeah I would've felt the same way. Like, "HAS GOD SENT YOU TO JUDGE ME? AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

Of course. As I said, I'm interested in Taoism and it's a pleasure to learn what I can about it from an expert. Research can only teach you so much when lacking the (appropriately enough) human element.

Welcome to the thread. :)

Well they do say, "fear not" as a greeting for a reason. I'm sure I don't need to tell you all that angels in the strictest Biblical sense do tend to look rather . . . unsettling. Edited by Steel Accord

I just love how the angel says what they always seem to when they show up, "Don't be afraid" as if they're trying to remind people, "It's okay, I'm not here to kill you.... today. >_>"

XD

But bouncing off Steel Accord's comment,

Yeah, they tend to look like they mean business.

And the kind of business that involves continents worth of people suddenly up n' dying on the spot. ^^;

Well I was strictly referring to how they are described as LOOKING in the Bible. Six wings and three heads (of different species), flaming wheels with eyes on them.

No no, those are specifically Seraphim.

Those aren't all angels.

There's quite a few others described in scripture :P

I thought you said "guzzling" at first and were talking about tea!

Christians has a lot to learn and earn in terms of the usefulness of meditation, and just taking a break. There are plenty of Christians I've known who think you have to work 25 hours a day and you can sleep when you're dead. There's a reason God made rest and pausing pleasant.

You make it sound like no Christian knows that that's described in scripture. :P

I'm hoping you realize there are well studied theologians who have doctorates in Scripture and Extra-biblical studies and profess exactly what you're saying...

Yes, Blue does in fact know that. He's extremely well versed in the scriptures and is one of the thread experts on the subject.

One of these days I would love to host a podcast directed to this thread lets say once a week or two weeks.

I would love to share and go over some personal insights with Christ. Hopefully we can connect better by

verbally communicating and share our life experiences

Happy New Year to everyone!

The Catholic and the Orthodox Church extend the celebration of Christmas for one more week, in a total of eight days, until today (January 1st). In the Catholic Church it is called "Octave of Christmas", while in the Orthodox Church it is called "Afterfeast". The birth of Christ is too great to be celebrated in a single day :)

May his birth mean that we all are renewed. And I mean everyone, all Christians, but not only Christians, and also not only those who believe in God. I mean literally everyone. Because Christ has born for all of us. It doesn't matter where you are now, you might be in a cozy home with your family or you might be in a cheap rented room God-knows-where. It doesn't matter, he has born for everyone. He is the king of the kings, the supreme lord of all the Universe, however he was born not in a palace but in a stable with nothing fancier than a manger. This so he could be closer to everyone. Yes, God loves you too.

I wish everyone a good 2017!

Happy New Year to you all and God bless. I look forward to a new year. I haven't been this excited for a new year ever before. My New Year's resolution is to be gainfully employed. On the actual thread subject, my Mom gave me this little passage as a personal prayer that I'd like to share with you all.

"For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

~Jeremiah 29:11

Of course I still abide by the "God helps those who help themselves" philosophy. So I don't plan to be idle in the days to come just hoping fortune to fall upon me from on high.

I like finding Christian themes in Queen songs, to be honest.
Ones that are obviously Christian or by a Christian writer are alright,

there's just something about seeing it where it wasn't intended :3

Not sure what.

Or intended just not made explicit. Creed does that a lot. As does Jars of Clay. Even Skillet, not all of their songs are specifically about their faith. Awake and alive is an example. That's why I like bands like these, the artists are Christian and that obviously affects what they create but as with life, our belief in God doesn't have to be the only thing we are capable of expressing or that such belief can only be expressed or experienced through explicit worship.
