My top 2 favorites would have to be Outlaw Star and Welcome to The NHK. Outlaw Star's up there because it's just plain cool, but NHK is up there for a different reason.

 

The reason why I put NHK up there isn't because it's well written, funny, touching, pretty, or has a great soundtrack (which by the way it is or has all of those things); it's up there because it attacks a relatively serious social issue that I think is a little more common than people like to think. Many people are unfortunately loners, and there's a shockingly high number of people who are like Sato in this anime: people who do nothing but watch stupid crap on TV or look at porn on the internet all day, eventually leading to this weird avoidant personality eventually including an actual fear of people as a whole.

 

I can name people both on the internet and off the internet who are already going down this path, and even though it might just be that I'm an otaku it still worried me. The whole hikikomori or neet thing is for the most part only discussed in Japan but just damn I think the issue is also found in large numbers in the United States as well. I've looked up how these things usually go for people and what the psychological status of these people usually is and it is absolutely chilling and I would love for there to be a more widespread solution to the problem.

 

Oh yeah, also NHK contains this inside of it. And this is the best thing I've ever seen.

I'm not a manga person, but I do watch the odd anime. Code Geass and Death Note are pretty dang awesome, but I truly love Gundam. I've seen almost all the dubbed ones (I can't understand Japanese and whilst I'll happily watch subbed shows, I prefer the dubs) and my goal for this year is to watch all the Gundams that weren't dubbed. Unicorn, 00, Wing, Zeta and G are my favourite Gundam shows.

I watch anime occasionally, so I have a couple that I find interesting. As normal, my list will be of things that aren't really around much anymore, as I tend to fall into stuff long after everyone else has moved on.

My favorite anime/manga is "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimaya" (I don't even know if I spelled it right). It has an interesting story and a good set of characters. I wish they'd release season 3.

I really like Death Note, Appleseed, Gurren Lagann and Cowboy Bebop, but I have to say my favorite anime is a combination of Dragonball and Dragonball Z.

 

I know that a lot of people consider that 'entry level anime', but it's just a mythos that I've grown up with. It has always been my favorite anime, and it probably always will be.

Interstella 5555 (Not sure this counts, as it's really a long music video)

Interstella 5555 was a great animation to (in my mind) the greatest Daft Punk album ever . 

It has been listed as a movie on a few websites, so I would almost say that it was an anime,

but I just... I don't know how to categorize that

(Electroma was interesting also. All I can say about DP is that they are hard to categorize  )

My personal favorite anime series is Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt

I just love the humor from that series, a close second is Soul Eater

I loved the characters in it, and the story to it I had found interesting

 

My favorite anime movie is all hands down Akira

It's a classic for a good reason

Just one amazing movie that I'd always watch anytime

Night On The Galactic Railroad would be a good one to mention as well

I hope I'm not the only person who knows of it's existence

But it had the most beautiful scenery ever

It was extremely slow going but it was completely worth it

 

As for manga, I've never read one before so...I can't say anything about that

Favorite Manga? Oh man, tough choice between 3 that I follow.

In the end I think Bleach wisn the manga category. It's just much more interesting to me compared to Naruto, and it keeps the action going. (Unlike the Anime version with 10 fillers every 4 episodes.)

 

Favorite Anime however, is definitely Naruto. Naruto isn't as infected with fillers as others and they've done a good job of making it. The soundtrack is also great~

 

Do I need to broaden my horizons for anime and manga? Yes I do. But maybe when I'm not as busy.

My favorite anime would have to be the Persona 4 anime. But other animes I really like are Fairy Tail, Black Butler and I don't know if it would be considered an anime but I like Adventure Time too.

Grew up with Pokemon and Digimon. Came to love Fullmetal Alchemist in college. But my favorite one of all time would have to be . . .

 

Code Geass.

 

It's premise has several factors I love.

 

-Alternate History

-Giant Robots

-Superpowers

-Memorable characters.

 

Another factor that requires a little more elaboration. The background existence of greater powers. Some series have cosmic forces playing people and events in the story to some incomprehensible end. Most however make it too obvious. The will of cosmic forces seems a lot less wondrous when you already have characters that can, at the very least, fly and shoot fire/lasers; if not twist time or move continents.

 

Geass certainly gives superhuman abilities, but they're far more cerebral than the usual fair. Manifesting as a very pure expression of the user's ingrain desires. The "gods" of the setting, reflect that. Being called by the Jungian concept of "the Collective Unconscience" and determining reality by our united decisions.

 

This gives the revelation that there IS such forces at work more symbolic power.

i dont consider myself a fan of anime or manga, but ive dabbled in a couple series and films that i really enjoyed. someday im going to buy all my favorites on dvd. 

 

Series: Initial D, Wangan Midnight, Desert Punk, and a series i found on netflix called Rideback. 

Films: Akira (of course), Steamboy, Millennium Actress, and anything Hayao Miyaazaki

When I was younger my favorite TV series was Digimon, though I didn't know it was an anime then.  Obviously, I don't enjoy it as much as I used to, but I still have it ranked as my favorite TV series because of how much I loved it when I was younger.

 

These days, my favorite anime is Noein.  The animation is the best I've ever seen, the music is beautiful, the story is intelligent, and the drama is engaging.  It's simply as good as TV gets in my opinion.  I also love Serial Experiments: Lain, Fruits Basket, Gunslinger Girl, Last Exile, and Elfen Lied.

 

Edit: Oh yes, and my favorite manga is Sundome for being both halarious and beautiful, if raunchy.  2nd favorite manga is Fruits Basket.

Hmm, favourite animes... that's a difficult one.

I'd have to pick between My Hero Academia, Seven deadly sins and The Grimoire of Zero.

I'd probably go for the latter. 

I'm not a particularly big fan of Manga.
