I've only read the pirate arc once. It was alright, I read the shining armor one the most because it is very relatable for me.

Rarity is best swashbuckler: Just look at that smirk.

Plus, she actually gets to fight a giant crab:

 

One of the better adventure arcs from the comic, imo.

I remember when she was growling at Spike

 

It was...oddly cute

 

Oh man it'd be a perfect pic of spike was a wee bit smaller. 

 

 

Anywho I myself was a bit late in watching the episode thx to other people and their having to always get in my way of doing anything.  Seeing rare gorge herself actually brought a sense of normalcy into rare. The spell's control was a bit unnerving but it's more because of how it effected both positives and negatives about her, and I know deep down in her brain she was screaming for the control the spell took from her. I really think spike should be spooked into environmentally aware for allowing what happened to rare, his heart was in the right place but there were other ways to deal with the situation.

I actually have made my own headcanon about her fighting prowess.  Always like to think that even though Rares is not as strong as Applejack, fast as Rainbow Dash, or magical adept as Twilight, she is a immensly skilled fighter.

Makes kinda sense to me. She has shown that she can hold herself well in a brawl, the way she threw punches and kicks even implies that she has training. And if she has training in martial arts, she is going to be rather good at it, seeing that she is a perfectionist.

 

But not only that, her dad seem to be in professional Football, so i guess he had some kind of influence on her. She also has to watch her physique, to keep her flawless body in shape, so she does fitness training.

So that means she has quite a bit of muscles under her silken curves (Not as much as Applejack of course).

 

She is also very observant, intelligent and cunning. She also has an incredible eye for details, what could be better for fnding the weakspot in an opponents defence?

 

So that means:

 

Perfectionist + Martial training + Fitness + Cunning + Smarts = A skillful fighter who outwits her enemies and uses their strength against them. She uses charme, intelligence and skill to defeat her opponents.
