Huh, don't know of any analysis of that particular matter.

 

But i think it depends pretty much on the situation. Simple Ways and Suited for Success were pretty much earnest, were Dog and pony show was just a spectacle for example.

 

We also have much proof that Rares is very aware of her dramatic side and just overreacts just for fun, or even pokes fun at herself in the process.

Not always the case, naturally.

 

She does not take herself and her antics as serious as many seem to think.

Personally, I think it depends on the situation she's in - sometimes she isn't serious, like what Obsidian showed you and in "A Dog and Pony Show," but then there's times where she is serious, like this:

 

 

 

So it could be either, but it's generally pretty easy to differentiate

Rarity is beautiful...

 

Ive seen people say that Rarity is not really a natural beauty. It always sounds like she needs her makeup and her fancy mane style to look good. But that is not true.

 

She is beautiful...

 

In Simple Ways she looked gorgeous in her all natural style. And it really was all natural, not a single thing was "fake" or "enhanced" on her. Her eyes, her mane, her face, everything. She just looks that good. She does not need all the fancy stuff. She enjoys it, but she does not need it.

 

One could say that Rarity is a flower, and her makeup, her hairdo and her fake eyelashes are her petals, but that is not true.

Rarity is a gorgeous blooming flower, with petals and everything. When she gets all dolled up it is like you put that flower in a really fancy vase. It looks good and all, but its not needed.

 

The flower has its colours, its pleasant smell... its natural flawlessness, it does not need the vase, the vase does not make it more beautiful. The blossom stands for itself. It is the important thing, the truly remarkable, lovely thing.
