Sad moments

Hello there. I wanna hear moments from tv shows, movies, games, or even books that people have found to be sad. It could be the death of a character or just a tragic occurance, share it with us.

I'll start us off.

A sad moment for me was the ending to Stephen King's novel "The Green Mile". Too me its sad because in the end the main character, Paul Edgecomb, has to live with the guilt that he could not save an innocent man, John Coffey, from being executed for a crime he did not commit. It gets sadder as Paul's, being healed by John's inexplicable healing powers, life-span has increased beyond normal humal limit so he is now alone at the age of 104, his wife died from a bus accident, wondering how much longer he will live for. Seeing his long-life span to be punishment from god for not saving John.

I serioulsy suggest either reading the novel or seeing the film version of it.

Let's see.

1. The ending of Rain Man.

2. In Harry Potter, I almost cried when

 Dobby died

, but only in the movie, not in the book.

3. In "Sons of Anarchy" it was really sad when

 Opie and his wife died

4. In the anime, When the Cicadas Cry (or Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni) there are a couple scenes. (spoilered to take up less room)

-the entire first arch in retrospect

-When Keiichi

begs Mion for forgiveness for what he did in the first arch, even though she had no idea what he was talking about

-What happens to Satoshi

- How Satoko is

 abused by her uncle

- the scene where

Shion beats Satoko in the middle of the classroom

-in the last arch of the first season, Rena gives a speech about the meaninglessness of friendship, which was terribly sad.

5.

 The ending of Fallout 3

6. When

 the dog died

in I am Legend (the movie)

7. The ending of Flowers for Algernon

8. When Neil

 kills himself

in Dead Poets Society

In the fanfiction Bubbles (I've only read like...two fanfictions) when Derpy is left behind.

I almost cried.  Its so...sad.  She's so innocent...and she doesn't even realize...

And then in my own story I wrote, Disappearing Wind.

Its a sad story, but at this one point where I was writing it I just started to sob.

"Daffodil Thorne, don't think that way!  Don't think THAT WAY!"

Oh in that case, my list gets even bigger :P

1. When

 Captain America died

2. The poems "Alone" and "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allan Poe. In fact, 75% of the things he wrote were sad.

3. There is another poem called "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Sara Teasdale about how the world won't care when humanity is long gone. It's really sad.

4. The fanfic "Bubbles" was very sad

5. There's a When the Cicadas Cry Fanfic on fanfiction.net called Kokorogoroshi-hen that was so sad that I died a little inside when it finished. :(

6. This is going to sound embarrassing, but in Ouran High School Host club when

Tamaki is going to leave Ouran

I felt pretty sad.

7. In the anime Kodomo No Omocha (or Kodocha in the States) there are a lot of really sad scenes, particularly when it is revealed to the world that Sana was adopted and everyone is harassing her.

I may come back with more, but that's what I came up with off the top of my head

The saddest TV moment for me is in the great Anime film: Grave of Fireflies ("Hotaru no haka") - the movie focuses around two children's struggle for survival during WWII and the bit that always chokes me up is:

When the main protagonist's aunt talks of selling thier late mothers kimono to buy rice and his young sister Setsuko cries telling him not to (the Kimono is one of the last posessions they have of thier mom)

So so sad :( hehe

The beginning of Up. My gosh that was incredibly depressing for a kid's movie, but then again, Charlotte's Web is pretty bad in that department too. It's a really sad picture, an elderly man looking back at his unaccomplished childhood dreams and the death of his much beloved wife.

Another one: toy story 3`s ending. I was holding together perfectly fine when Andy was giving away his toys... but then when he started talking about woody, I cracked. Such a great bitter sweet ending to the series.

EDIT: YES! freaking Marley and Me! I never seen it, but I remember a co-worker telling me about the ending. I've made it a rule to avoid "animal movies" because of cheap tear jerkers like that.

Probably a sad moment was in the season finale of season 2 of Lost

Spoiler if you haven't seen it:

The
part when Desmond finds the letter from his old girlfriend inside his
book. He reads it, and realizes that he's wasted over 3 years of his
life pushing a button.

This is probably the saddest thing I've ever seen in a tv show.

As far as non-pony stuff, mine would have to be this scene right here, it almost made me loose it the first time I watched this movie:

"You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. You taught me that Life's about change, about learning to accept who you are, good or bad. And I thank you for that."

While it isn't exactly sad to the kind of crying, but every time I read the Footprints poem by Mary Stevenson i get tears in my eye.

Though I don't usually read poems...

Anyway: I don't usually cry at movies or TV. Though I do consider myself a hopeless romantic, but that dosent mean I cry at movies

Why is it called Common Sense if it is not that common?

Oh the feels...

The saddest moment I have seen recently that made me almost cry was in the Walking Dead season 3.

When Lori dies but not so much that but how Rick reacts to it. To see their strong leader break down and just lose his shit. That and when Jim died in season 1.

God was Donnie Darko's ending sad, knowing that Donnie had to die just so the world wouldn't end. He seemed at peace before the plane engine crashed through roof.

Mad World really does fit the ending :(

Hmm moment I found sad. The death of the Golum Mr. Pump19 is Terry Pratchetts book Making Money made me sad.

Other than that I can't think of a single thing... at least not without giving spoilers away,

I have been reading Fallout:Equestria for about 3 or 4 weeks, and there are many sad things in this fanfiction but I really can't say anythng about the sad moments without spoiling anything. Except there are very many sad moments that have made me tear up.
