Personally, this tale is my absolute favorite fanfiction of ANY fandom. I loved reading it, and hearing Mic The Microphone's dramatic reading was just as good, if not better. I was, as you can imagine, crying my eyes out by the end of the story. I think the reason this hit so hard for me is because I don't really feel I have a good relationship with my own father. To see the lengths the main character went, even though Dashie wasn't blood, or even the same species... that just struck close to my heart. I'm honestly tearing up just thinking about it. Though there are a lot of pony-human relationship fics, My Little Dashie is a cut above the rest to me.

First time I read it I cried, and I cried a lot. It's a good story and it can touch you a lot.

 

But...

 

It's waaay too overrated. It's not the "most amazing story ever" or anything near that. If you think about it the story is incredibly simple. It's about a chance, a lucky chance where a sad person gets love and about how that love is lost. It's so simple that everyone can relate to it and that is exactly why it is so popular and why it is so touching. You could say that the simplicity of My Little Dashie is both why the story is bad but also why it's brilliant.

It's written to be relate-able, written to be understood and felt and that is where the story excels. Apart from that it's a very simple story.

I have read better fanfics, I am certain of that.

The problem with MLD is that people talk too much about it... I wouldn't exactly say that it is "overrated" - though it's definitely not the best fanfic around -, but it's just way too popular. Everyone go around saying "omg my little dasheh saddest story evah" and the people who disagree get obviously annoyed by that.

 

Anyway... My Little Dashie was actually the first MLP fanfic I ever read, and I personally loved it. Even though I'm usually a pretty emotional guy, I could somehow relate to the main character: being in that part of your life where everything seems utterly meaningless, and then a magical and dreamlike event happens that changes everything. By the end of the story, I was crying and sobbing like a baby.

 

I very rarely read books, fanfics, et cetera due to my extremely lazy personality, so I can't really give much opinions about how well-written is the My Little Dashie fanfic. But I, for one, liked it. And I also respect the people who don't. It's a matter of opinion after all~

Well I listened to some guy read it on youtube cause I don't read fan fics and after it ended I thought the guy in the story was a psychopath and it was the worst hour spent of my life

I laughed and wondered why I wasted an hour of my life reading a 10kish words abomination of a fic.

 

I've never seen anything more pathetic in my life than a self-insert wish of fulfillment fic like MLD. Honestly, it's just so hilarious to see all the hype it caused.

yeah it's overrated but thean agaibn so are most things that have a huge fandom....

Anyway's i did enjoy the fic, i didint cry(thean again i havent in years) But i still thought it was a good fic.

I just finished reading it for the first time a few minutes ago. By the end of the story, there were tears streaming down my face and there are still tears in my eyes. Basicly this story made me cry like never before.

I still find it hard to belive that a simple text can make a 17 yearold cry like a 5 yearold.

Well after reading all of them I can say a few things about them. 1. they are all superb, really well written. 2. In the end of the first on I felt the writer ended it to quick, but that was made up in the second one. 3. You really shouldn't listen to Send Her My Love by Journey after you read them or as the meme goes, Your Heart will Explode

I think that My little Dashie is awesome, although I think its overrated. Ive seen a lot of bronies describing it as the "best fanfic ever" Of course its not. We have Fallout: Equestria for that. I read it when I was knew to the show, and it didnt have the same effect on me that it did on everyone else. I came close to tears, but I didnt actually cry.

This touched me, literally. I'm writing a fanfic based off of it. It is called True Bond. But when I read this fanfic, my eyes watered up. I am a pretty tough person, but I almost let everything down and cried when reading this. I didn't know I needed a box of tissues until I came to the end.

I read that fanfic the other night, after listening to a voiced letter of Dashie taken from the original story. It made me curious, and I knew it had a reputation to make EVERY brony cry, so i decided to read it.

 

I CRIED. Not much physically, but inside, sent so much sadness and feeling into me that you just wouldn't understand unless you read it yourself. I just wanted to give Dashie a big HUG. Plus, I had to wipe away my tears quickly because my mum walked in, and I didn't wanna admit that I was crying to a MLP story.

 

I am certain, however, that even a non-brony would feel sad, possibly cry at this story, because it's not about the fact that she's a cartoon character from a kid's show, that it's MY LITTLE PONY; the true story is about LOVE, and how their LOVE was taken away, the mare who didn't know who she was but found a new light in this man. And it really makes you feel it.

The first time I read this I watched a reading of it on YouTube. I always heard that it was a well written story and quite sad too. But I never ever expected to be that sad! I am serious in saying I had not cried that much in years about anything until I heard this story. It is really touching and relates a lot to real life too. But I do love the story and how well written it was. But wow it felt as every had me flowing with tears.
