  1. In my experience, people hate either our show or our fandom for a multitude of reasons. One of my very best friends, we'll call her Amy, finds the show overly sweet and absolutely hates the "sickly sweet shit" as she terms it. Another guy I speak with is afraid of the fanbase because the few people that are bronies that he knows are slightly more obsessed than the average fan. My own father and uncle hate us and our show because "that show's stupid and you're an idiot for watching it willingly" apparently. This upset me, actually, but helps to prove my point in this instance, I think. A fifth person I know doesn't hate our community or our show, but he finds the quality of MLP substandard and enjoys trolling us to get a rise out of people. Basically, there are a lot of people that 'hate' on us for different reasons. The main thing I've seen, as many of you probably have, is the sexist/ageism hate. However, there are other reasons that we take crap. One even being that some people just don't like MLP, and end up getting aggravated at hardcore bronies who insist on discussing it.
  2. Happy National Brony Day! I'm gonna celebrate by playing a great game of Monopony (seen here: http://shikathesingingpony.deviantart.com/favourites/#/d59b8b2) with my fellow Bronies! Hope everypony has a great day!
  3. Okay. First and foremost, get a decent editor. Either that, or proofread better. I may be a bit of a grammar nazi, but parts of that fic made my eyes burn. Secondly, this seems quite similar to a few episodes actually in the show. Find something to make it unique, and do that quickly. You'll never hear the end of it if you don't. Overall, good start. Like I said, uniqueness and editing, but good start. I edit for a few other writers, like this one: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/43247/Fallout-Equestria%3A-Wanderers If you like, I can go through your piece here tonight or tomorrow. I don't mind.
  4. Good day today. Friends, fun, Magic.... perfect. And it isn't even over.

  5. This is... wonderful. I can feel the emotion in the words, understand what I can only imagine is running through your mind. This is a fabulous piece of writing, my friend. Bravo.
  6. I got a message like this about ten minutes ago. I blocked the user and ignored the message. Seems like the best way to deal with things like this.
  7. This looks wonderful! You do some great work, my friend, and I would be honored if you would consent to make a signature for me. I'd just like my character, my name, Shika The Singing Pony (eeyup, the whole thing), and whatever background you think would look good.
  8. Well, I'm no visual artist, so I won't be involved in this particular contest. If/When there's a fanfiction or singing competition, I will be sure to contribute something of value.
  9. Personally, this tale is my absolute favorite fanfiction of ANY fandom. I loved reading it, and hearing Mic The Microphone's dramatic reading was just as good, if not better. I was, as you can imagine, crying my eyes out by the end of the story. I think the reason this hit so hard for me is because I don't really feel I have a good relationship with my own father. To see the lengths the main character went, even though Dashie wasn't blood, or even the same species... that just struck close to my heart. I'm honestly tearing up just thinking about it. Though there are a lot of pony-human relationship fics, My Little Dashie is a cut above the rest to me.
  10. You're banned because you are a cupcake. Muffins are better than cupcakes.
  11. I've actually been searching for one myself. A friend recommended Audacity, as it is a free online download, but I haven't used it and so can't comment on its quality. Other suggestions would be welcome, since I need a good program too!
  12. I'm trying my hardest, and I'm actually doing well. Oop, guess what? Apparently, I'm still 'doing nothing' and a completely worthless member of society. Thanks so much, family dearest. I love you all too.

  13. Got to agree with Bob here. It took my boyfriend four months into our relationship to tell me he was a brony. We'd known each other for 4 years. He's a closet brony. You? Not really.
  14. Can I just keep brohoofing this? Please? Because you took the words right out of my mouth. Some bronies annoy the shit out of me too, and I'm quite possibly the most pony-obsessed person I know. While I do disagree with the original poster's opinion of the Derpy change, I completely understand why he feels that way. I am also an "anti-jerk" person. Not all bronies are the same. And to quote a really old book(sorry, 'tis the Twilight in me talking) "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Try not to paint everyone with the same brush, my friend, no matter what the situation.
  15. This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Why imagine when someone else can do it for you? I might ask, in a similar vein, why live when everyone else is already doing it? Do it because the experience makes you a better person! Even books I didn't like, such as Lord of the Flies, The Fountainhead, and The Great Gatsby, gave me more insight into the world at the time it was written as well as making it easier to understand the authors and their other works.
  16. This is an impossible challenge for multiple reasons. One that I see specifically as a vocalist is that you are supposed to lift your face and brighten it while you sing. Therefore, you raise your eyebrows and smile. You, sir, have given me something that I have failed. However, I am proud to fail because it means I am simply a normal brony and a good singer.
  17. What makes me unique? I am a firm believer in the Goddess Nyx, ruler of the Night and the daughter of Chaos. I study the occult in my spare time, when I'm not watching ponies or playing Magic: The Gathering, though I try to stick to the Light. Darkness and its allies wreak havoc on my aura and I cannot concentrate on mundane matters for hours after the fact. Crazy as the above sounds, I'm not joking. That's actually true. I also write quite well, I sing often and I am told that I am very good at it, and I am in college at the moment studying Mandarin Chinese, specializing in education.
  18. Well, my ponysona and my OC's name is Shikari, shortened to Shika. I'm a vocalist by trade in real life, and that is also my OC's special talent. Therefore, she is a singing pony. Naturally, ShikaTheSingingPony was an easy choice. Plus, that's what's on my Twitter, Tumblr, and Youtube channel.
  19. My apologies, Clarity dear. While I do like your Fluttershy impression, I believe it isn't quite exact. Very good, to be sure, but it is quite obviously a fan-made impression, rather than a recording of the actual voice actress.
  20. YES, the cat piano! Anywho, my favorite musician is MicTheMicrophone, followed by a three-way-tie of AcoustiMandoBrony, Glaze, and LivingTombstone.
  21. I can vouch for this, actually. His Wario, Luigi, and Mario are so close to the VA's that it scares me. Guess I have to thank Mario Party 4 and some Saturday night gaming.
  22. My parents weren't exactly accepting. As I'm 19 and in college, they expect me to be more "grown-up" than to watch cartoons for small children. So, when they saw me watching a livestream with my boyfriend... well, it was no Pinkie Pie Party. Finally, I pulled out the foolproof plan. I told them about John DeLancie's documentary. My father, thankfully, remembered DeLancie's role in Star Trek: The Next Generation as Q. He then wanted to see which character John played. I pulled up the Season Two opener from my laptop(I have all the episodes, which further upset my mother) and set it playing at Discord's appearance. We stood there, watching for a while, and we finished the first part of the episode. Mom had left by that point, but Dad was more accepting after seeing the talent there. I also took the opportunity to tell him about Lauren Faust and Tara Strong and their previous accomplishments. Dad still doesn't 'like' that I watch MLP, but he doesn't say anything about it anymore. Mom took more convincing. After the Season Two finale, I went back to her and told her, "I just watched this awesome show. It was a parody of England's royal wedding, but instead of being all happy-happy, there was an attempted governmental takeover and the Princess got her royal butt kicked." She asked what show, and the look on her face was priceless when my response was My Little Pony. That got her listening, so I started singing the praises of the show and its fandom. The lessons learned, the sense of family I feel from the community, the creativity brought out that manifests in art, music, and stories, and the acts of kindness performed for perfect strangers, all because of a little girl's cartoon. It took a while, but she finally got the message that there's more to the show than some bright colors and a moral here and there. Now, she's asking me when Season Three starts. She wants to watch. ...I think I may have converted her to bronyism, and I have never been more proud of myself.
  23. I am able to do quite the Rarity impression. I've been told it is simply marvelous, and I would love to record it for you. Alas, I do not have a suitable microphone for the task. My apologies, darlings.
