I like hip-hop and rap if it's done right, a la Hopsin, OFWGKTA, and Death Grips. I really, really hate dubstep. I can tolerate radio pop for the most part, but not the "rap" that plays on there. Also, I like Justin Timberlake.

With that logic, I'd be a sado-masochistic rapist who burns things down for laughter and the pain and suffering of others while mutilating the living, all the while discovering some ancient secret and decimating the planet and universe at once.

If you enjoy something, why let the lyrics stop you? Just because the song is saying something doesn't mean that you have to agree.

I can like rap too, if it's a good rap song. I don't like all the rap that is on pop radio though. it's pretty stupid.

This is a really great rap song if you haven't heard this before:

I as well am a Death Grips fan, I hate rap but I love Death Grips for some strange reason

Maybe it's because they are Industrial influenced and I love Industrial music

I'm kind of half way on you with Dubstep, some of it's really terrible

But if it's done right it can actually sound quite nice

Death Grips are technically industrial hip-hop, so that might explain why. And like you said, they are really industrial, like on Takyon.

And for me, the sad thing is, some of the only "dubstep" I like is Skrillex. I know he's not really dubstep, so please don't give me a 15 paragraph as to why he sucks, isn't dubstep, and that Deadmau5 is better (That wasn't directed at you, Moog. Just all of those electronic elitists).

Oh god don't get me started on all of those electronic elitists

Even though most people consider me as an electronic elitist

I wouldn't be all like "HUUURR DURRR APHEX TWIN IZ DA BEZT N SKRULLIX SUX DICKS LOLOLOL"

Seriously, even though Skrillex is basic, and he doesn't have too much creativity

He has skill, he can make a very well structured song that gives off energy

But to me, the bass drops that Skrillex has done don't make me feel energetic

As instead they kind of make the track feel a little bit obnoxious and awkward sounding for me

I honestly understand why someone would actually like Skrillex

But it's just his overall style and sound that just doesn't feel right and sets in too well with me

He can produce good, he's not the best producer, but he's definitely not the worst

And I hate it when people compare Skrillex to Deadmau5

It's like comparing Daft Punk to Boards of Canada, there's no similarity between the two at all

I don't really know if theres anything I listen to thats just widely considered bad, or atleast I don't listen to it frequently.

I guess if it counts I don't really dislike any artist to terribly. I'm pretty open minded about all artists for the most part, even if I don't actively love them or anything.

Currently I can't say I listen to anything that I've heard to be terrible or anything though. Then again people have all kinds of different opinions so I'm not sure if theres many bands widely considered bad. Or artists.

Nickelback did make some good songs back when they first came out

But now they just need to retire if you ask me

Nickelback was always complete garbage (imo), although I guess their really early stuff is tolerable.

They need to just go away, I hate them so much, I never wanna have to hear their music ever again...

I've been forced to hear their annoying ass songs so many times cause they were always on the friggin' radio wherever I go...i cant take it anymore, it's torture >_<

Honestly, they are the only band that I just absolutely cannot stand listening to, except for a few slightly decent songs.

I'm fine with Korn, Slipknot and Disturbed. I mean I wouldn't turn them on or anything, but we're cool unless somebody calls them "metal." Then I have to say something.

Also, I love death metal. I don't care if it's growling instead of singing. DM isn't supposed to be a pleasant listening experience. It's supposed to be an aural assault. B)

I'm an extremely huge fan of Disturbed, and a pretty big fan of Slipknot. And actually they are technically metal, just so you know. They are just a different style of metal, than say, death metal or something similar. Although I could see Disturbed being classified as hard rock I guess.

Nickelback have crap songs like Rockstar, Somebody For Me, and Never Gonna Be Alone

But then they have better ones like Too Bad, Leader of Men and Breathe

The only Slipknot song that I liked was Snuff

Korn had Freak On A Leash which is why I give them my respect

And Disturbed are definitely not too bad at all

Down With The Sickness was an epic track

I laugh at people who look for meaningful lyrics in extreme music

But I'll admit that even I have my limits with that kind of stuff

I don't like the songs that are filled with grotesque lyrics

I don't mind lyrics that are dark, violent and filled with mayhem and chaos

But I just don't like all of those guys who go all out describing a blood and gore fest in their songs

It's just plain stupid if you ask me

@Champion RD92:

Actually, some extreme music does have meaningful lyrics. It's not all blood and gore. Check out Benediction sometime.

Bands that scream about violence and death are not advocating those things or trying to gross you out (although that can be fun). They're doing it because it's cathartic, not only for them but for their listeners. In a society where it's not acceptable to gun down people who piss you off, fantasizing about it hurts no one and gives us an outlet for our stress.

I could go on about how extreme music makes a lot more sense than it sounds like, and how it's actually a lot harder to perform than most other genres, but the point is made.

I know, I know

I like extreme music with meaningful lyrics

If I didn't then I wouldn't want a Converge shirt

I understand everything that you just said

But I don't find the grotesque stuff to my preference

Like I said I actually like violent lyrics

If I didn't like violence in my songs then I wouldn't listen to Grindcore

But I just am not a fan of the gore infested stuff

Not because I find it disgusting

But it just doesn't appeal to me too much at all

Even though I usually don't care about lyrics when listening to hardcore material

I still have my limits

@Champion RD92:

Oh I never noticed that comment was directed to RD

So I guess you could just ignore what I had said

Unless you were going for the both of us

Were you directing this post at me? Cause you quoted Dat Moog and then you said @Champion RD92. I never said extreme music couldn't have meaningful lyrics btw. I just said I don't care for lyrics about blood and gore and stuff.

The lyrics part was for him, the blood and gore part was for both of you. I don't know how to edit multiple quotes into an existing post. xD

Time to listen to some Morbid Angel! *headbangs*

Well....even though I already did know and understand everything that you had said before

That was still quite the good explanation, I don't think I could of said it much better at all

And it's impossible to put a quote into an already existing post, believe me I've tried it before

I actually kinda like "Sexy and I Know It." I just think the drop sounds really cool.

Skrillex doesn't suck, he does make some dubstep, and I like both him and Joel. I'm more partial to deadmau5, but still.

I mean, Sonny does have at least SOME musical merit. The melody for Scary Monsters is beautiful, imo. And his earlier electro stuff is kickass.

No, Skrillex doesn't suck but his signature "growl bass" sound just isn't the most appealing

The melody in SMNS was nice, but I didn't really like the actual sound he used for that melody

And yes Slats Slats Slats, My Name Is Skrillex (The original not the stupid remix), Cat Rats etc. were all great songs

I just have to come out and say my guilty pleasure song is Come On Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners.  It earned that title when I heard it for the first time in Tommy Boy, it's just so catchy!

I love crappy pop music.  Taylor Swift is one of my favorite singers out today.  I also enjoy more than a few Miley Cyrus songs, I thought Call Me Maybe was one of the best pop songs in quite a while as well.  Also still love listening to bands like N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, 90s era Britney Spears, and The Spice Girls.

Also, Disturbed is fun to listen to, as long as it's before the album Believe.  After that, they went downhill for me, but everything up to and some songs on that album are good.

I'm a straight dude but I think Varg Vikernes is kinda well... Hey don't judge me he kinda looked like a girl when he had long hair.

tfw my langauge arts teacher wouldn't let me use burzum.org as a source for a research paper

I love most OFWGKTA side projects. Honestly, I think that they are some of the best rappers out right now.

Red and Kiss were solid albums.
