gaming That Game you Love, That Everypony Else Hates?

So I am sure we all have that one video game that we obsessively love and play constantly, but everybody else seems to have either never played, or just can't stand. What are yours guys? Post said games and why you love them, maybe you will get somepony else to agree!

For me it is a tie between

A) Advent Rising: I know this game got a ton of flak for whatever reason, but I thought that the combat was fluid and fun, and the story was great.

B) Kirby Air Ride: One of the best racing games I have ever played, Need a DS port of this instead of Mario Kart # 50 hyperbillion

Hm, I can't say i've been playing any unpopular games lately..

Oh and OMG I had a kirby's air ride disk somewhere, I played it for a while, its actually pretty darn good, I don't see the problem with it o-o.

I think i lost the disk though :/.

But I haven't really been playing anything outta the ordinary, or can remember anything I've played that I liked that was considered bad by others.

I used to play Frontlines: Fuel of War on the Xbox, but the multiplayer servers died a long time ago. It was the best part of the game, because the maps were huge, player counts were huge (at least when it was still kinda popular), and the game itself was incredibly glitchy and fun to mess around with.

It got horrid reviews. I even kinda liked the campaign, despite it being kinda stale, even at the time it came out.

I play Company of Heroes a lot but it seems that most people are more interested in the other THQ titles like Warhammer40K and Saints Row. I haven't actually met another person on the forums that plays CoH actively so yeah, I'd reckon it ain't very popular.. =/

I dunno, I like it cuz I'm really into history and military stuff, so I guess it strikes a chord with me.;

Sonic Adventure 2. I know It's from Sonic's terrible 3D era, but it's just lightyears ahead of Sonic Adventure 1. I was also in 8th grade when I played it, so my taste in games was not quite as refined as it is today.

The Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney series. I have played every case so much that I know the evidence and court record for each of them off the top of my head, but I keep playing them because I love the dialogue, the music, the characters and the court scenes. While the second and fourth games aren't as good, they are still quite enjoyable. I just really hate Moe the clown.

While the series is recognized by internet culture and game reviewers, I have yet to meet another in real life that has played through the series as much as I have or if at all. Everyone I show it to gets bored of it, even in the interesting/exciting sections.

Wait, you mean to say there are people who don't love Kirby Air Ride? How is that even possible?

Oh, and I really like Too Human, even though it gets really frustrating and the death scene with the valkyrie is permanently burned into my retinas now.

I loved the PW:AA series! I only played the first two games though (the original and Justice For All). I too find Moe the clown really irritating, in fact, I hated the entire episode involving the circus. The music for that one really got on my nerves for some reason. I'm hoping one day I'll be able to find the time to finish the third game. :)

Postal 2 and 3. super violent game thats been banned in several countries. i played this game with some friends and posted game footage on facebook and alot of people hated the game due to the violence and even judged me for it. I personally think its the perfect stress reliever for college students frustrated by the daily grind of 3 hour classes

Super Paper Mario, so many people hate this game due to it being different and although it is, and the earlier games were better, this game is fantastic and has the best story of any Mario game ever. Fantastic and very complete game

Hmm so the game that I don't think many have played I believe is also Company of Heroes. I usually never hear anyone say anything about it and most people usually ask me what it is if I bring it up. The one game that everyone utterly hates that I love, well I know i'll get flak for this but, Diablo 3. I don't care what people think of the game, to me it's utterly brilliant. Sure the gameplay can get a bit repetitive after awhile, but the cinematics (not sure if I spelled that right) and art style are just top notch.

Not sure if Dark Souls counts. It's infamous for it's difficulty, but others praise it for it's difficulty.

Other than that I got nothing. I don't have too many games around.

A lot of games that people keep posting in this have actually had very positive reviews and whatnot. I don't think those fall under the category of "Games That Everypony Else Hates."

For me, I think Double Dragon: Neon would be the closest thing I have to a game that I love that most people don't.

Anyway I love the Monster Hunter Series  Which many people dislike because of Its "Difficult game play" or something like that.

And Dark souls, Dark souls is good.

Most people I knew grew up with Doom. A bit after that time i played Rise of the Triad instead (never even played Doom until like 2003).  I actually sampled a few bronies all of them recognized Doom, only one was aware of ROTT (and surprised I played it on actual hardware).

Of course ROTT's reviews are in the middle between being a Doom clone and running on an expanded Wolf3D engine.

Shadow the hedgehog for the PS2. That game was/is epic, but it gets hot down in reviews, everyone hates it, people give it away if they have it, etc. I found it brilliant fun, multiplayer was pretty crappy though.

SADX. I. LOVE. THAT. GAME. All anyone ever says about, or even plays any more is SA2B...I just loved SADX- It's awful expressions, moderate VA, ridiculous map layout, the chao garden which was pretty much useless...Yup, loved it.

And finally, Quake 4. Everyone reviewed it with 'Oh, too boring, too much linear hand-holding, etc.' I found it fun. A nice storyline, a fairly brutal campaign, Quake 3-style MP. Yeah, what was to hate?

I sware some pony out there is going to say World of warcraft or how I like to pronunce it Would of War-Crap. Its the game ever one hates.. yet it seems like ever one plays it..

really some pony is going to spend 9-15$ a month on that bs?  thoses ponies arn't gamers ... their mindless clickers...

Game play > click, click, click, click, click, click, click,

Oh I have a job to get to.. ok in a sec. click click click (4 hours later) click click click.

I have a child? I'm legally responsible for. ok I attended to that in a sec.... click click click click click click

its like the only game that makes people lose IQ, jobs, some caes  there special somepony, and in a few caes there kids.

Other games ponies like that I abusoulty hate are

rise of nation, warcraft, age of empires, age of mythogly.

Did you hear Blizzard annoused there new War-crap game.. its the epic sega of the guy that cuts down the tree, gather gold and hmmmmmm stuff...sigh their totaly out of ideas

Don't get me started on FaceBook games... OMG. GTFO.. Flash/htm5 games are not games. there not even considered time wasters, Really people spend money on this Sh1T just to build or get something faster then having to wait the 1 Hour or how ever long it is....

I hate facebook apps in genreal, I hate people even more that spend countless hours on them clicking there life away.

Mobile Phone games.. these are not games.. do people acutally buy a cellphone or andriod/ios tablet just to game on? Really? Angery Birds is a epic example on what is NOT CONISDERED a real game. First of all if you want to game get a PC, Console or  Nindendo/Sony HandHeld (yes there is a diffrence between the these and a Mobile comunication device) and second get a real game to waste your life on. Like BF3/COD or SC2, Mario? Zelda? any thing that is not 2-50mb large and brian dead as Angery Birds.

No wonder why the global IQ avrage is droping at a ridiculous rate, Phone are getting smarter were people are getting dummer. /rant over

For the OP question I have to say Cryostsis: The Sleep of Reason.

ever one seemed to hate it for some reason? I enjoyed the cuss out of it.. story line was epic.

this, while i dont necesarily LOVE SADX (hell, i dont really love any sonic game) i still find it some good fun.

Sa2b on the other hand in my opinion, is so overrated, i could never find myself enjoying that game... The controls felt clunky, the level design was frustrating, the rank system was broken, piss poor graphics (even at the time of release) and i hated how you cant spindash in sa2 quite as fast as in sa1, after playing SG, i sure see how badly sa2 has aged IMO.

Now, for a game i like but people hate, well. Street fighter the movie the game (arcade) is the only on that come to mind for me

Twilight Princess. If you spent even five minutes at a Zelda-centric forum, you'd understand why I consider the game "hated". It's probably my favorite Zelda aside from Majora's Mask. So I have never understood the hate. Especially not that now we have Skyward Sword, which was from how I saw it, a very obviously flawed game. (although I would never say I hate it)

I disagree with SS being flawed (It's actually my fav, recently toppling the mightly Majora's Mask), but I freakin' LOVED Twilight Princess.

Strangely though, only forumgoers seem to hate on that game, and every criticism of TP I've ever seen really just might as well be "Look at me, I'm an extremely biased try-hard who can't stand any change in the 'Zelda game flow' and nothing will come close to the holy eternal majesty that is A Link to the Past in my eyes". The vast majority of gamers that played it also liked it.

There is a few games that I really like, that most people seem to hate/find boring, here is a few examples:

- Squad leader

- Might and Magic IX

- Tzar: Burden of the crown

- Robin hood for NES

I play Company of Heroes every day. It's awesome, especially if you have all the addons.

On SS, I am not one to notice flaws on the first play-through of a game. Especially not a Zelda game. Usually I enjoy them completely. However, Skyward Sword felt like a total drag at times. I enjoyed the motion control (much to my surprise) and some of the environments were really cool. However, in the end the game felt repetitive... The environments did end up feeling too similar, like we spent too much of the time in dry wastelands. There was very little variety in the enemies. Fighting a non-story related boss more than once, and going back through a dungeon more than once... Annoying tasks like going underwater and collecting the tadpole notes. In the end, the game felt more like a chore to me.

And it's actually not ALTTP elitists that always hate on TP. It's pretty much any fan of other games. For example, there was always tons of comparison of the Wind Waker to it.
