I used to have really mixed feelings about this turn of events, mostly because the episode that introduced wasn't as strong as it could possibly be.

But after a few months of thinking it over...I can dig it. I'm willing to put my faith in the writers on this one.

You're not alone, bro.

I saw the Season 3 finale just today, and even though I knew it was going to happen, I don't like the transformation at all.

And I know you ALL think we non-fans should suck it up and stop overreacting, but we're trying and it's not working.

Now I hope that this abrupt transformation will be counteracted by some big decision that involves her sacrificing her princessdom to rescue her friends.

But if it doesn't happen, so be it.

We do not even know what exactly her becoming a princess even means. It may not be a huge deal down the line. As I said in the past, perhaps they could explore a moral here. Just because someone has a status change, that doesn't mean that everything is different. She is still Twilight despite her being a 'princess' and it would be neat if they would remind the Brony community of this with an episode. I do agree that at the moment it seems like a big change, but I see it as a great character advancement opportunity.

Me, I think the Twilicorn thing is fantastic, for many reasons, they just have to execute it a bit better in season 4.

If you have that opinion, I'm not going to try to change your mind.

I'll accept that some ponies love the Twilicorn thing.

I'm just saying that I don't think it makes sense.

"Faith in the writers", huh? Yeah, I guess I can do that.

I'll admit I don't trust them much right now, but I'm sure I can live with it. I just want to see Season 4.

Lol, where've you been?  There's a million threads against alicorn Twilight.

Personally, I love that she became an alicorn princess!  I don't see why it should change the show for the worse, and I'm very happy for her.  She is my favorite after all.

Actually I hardly touched this part of the forums until after I saw the finale.

But if you want to have that opinion, please do. It's better than EVERYPONY complaining about the transformation. But I still don't like it.

P.S. Nice username!

He/she just finished season 3, according to his/her latest status. They are newer to being active in the forum. Not everyone is always on the same page as most of the fandom. :)

Yes.

As I said, I didn't want to touch this part of the forum until I saw the finale.

And yes, I am new! happy.png

Anyway, I'm still not comfortable with the transformation.

@@True Rarity,

Hello there. Your thread was premised around giving an opinion on Twilight's transformation into an Alicorn and asking for others to do the same. We already had a pinned topic for this exact purpose, so for convenience I have merged your thread with the older one. Please use our search feature before making threads to make sure there aren't duplicates.

And to answer your question, you are in the minority, but you are far from alone. This whole thing feels off to me, as a matter of fact. I think MLP can still be a wonderful show and that they can do many new and interesting things with Twilight as a princess, but I still require a fair amount of convincing. I only hope that future episodes can present Alicorn Twilight in a way that will make me more satisfied with the concept than Magical Mystery Cure did.

Thank you. I'm sure the writers can make this work.

And yes, I'll try to use the search feature from now on. I'm a little sheepish about it, especially since I found a topic on the same thing after I posted it.

I'd watch that. It'd be better than Equestria Girls. (Topical joke! But i seriously think Equestria girls will be okay.) Also, Australia is the luckiest country in the world, with Twilight as their minister. (Does she fall alot wearing heels with hooves?)

Haha, even though I don't like the Twilight transformation, I'd love to see the doodle!

Sorry it took so long. I got rather busy for a bit.  It took me about five minutes, but here. Angst, high-heel wearing, neon pink haired, prime minster of Aussieland, Princess Twilight Sparkle. (Who ate her crown. And dress. )

Twilightstahp_zpsc87b7249.png

The "flag" at the back originally had Twilight's star part of her cutiemark being the red part of the Australian flag, but I couldn't get it right. So, I put a kangaroo there, instead.

I'm personally against this whole Twilicorn thing for reasons that have already been said countless times, but that being said, there's still some hope that this doesn't change things too much. Seeing as how Twilight is now blatantly overpowered, the writers can balance this if they throw challenges at her that are larger in scale and requires the full use of her abilities and analytical skills. The other characters will stay the same so, fortunately, much of the show will probably remain unaffected. Still, this was a bad decision and, I think, hurt the show, and all for the sake of making a little extra cash.

Good job, that's just plain funny!

Keep up the good work!

Well I found out that the Season 3 finale WAS going to be the series finale until they decided to make more. That would be why they did what they did.

It did hurt the show though, but I'm trusting in the writers to make it work.

You have a sauce on that?

Even if this was meant to be the end of the show, it still seems like turning Twilight into an alicorn is unjustified and uncalled for. She never asked for this (insert Adam Jensen face here) and there was no news of Twilight's transformation until literally right before it happened. That fact alone shows that it probably wasn't intended until much later on and it definitely wasn't what the writers wanted.

You have a point there.

That's another reason I don't think they should have made Twilight become a princess. It's just completely out of the blue.

And even if it was supposed to be the series finale it wasn't as magnificent as it should have been.

Well I didn't really like it BECAUSE (here we go again)...

  • The transformation was so sudden.
  • The writers acted as if a change in Twilight was something they could get away with WHILE CONTINUING THE SHOW.
  • Her power is being emphasized way too much.
  • It may be impossible for her to continue her studies.

There, now you have four of my reasons.

I have to admit I am fully supporting Twilicorn. The execution of the finale was not perfect, I get it. But I think there are so much great ideas that can be exploited with this change, as much as there are bad ideas popping up everywhere from detractors. Problem is that the writers are smart, and will not do something that is out-of-character for Twilight and uncharacteristic of the show, like most apocalyptical ideas are. (Twilight will turn into a higher-class bourgeois snobby bitch)

The cliff-hanger actually makes me look forward to S4, and that's exactly what I think the cast wanted to do: Create anticipation for the next season. In my opinion, they did just that, to the disarray of people who feel that made the last episode feel too rushed.

I don't really like Twilight being an Alicorn. It doesn't suit her, she should've just had the ability to create powerful magic, not become a princess when she has no blood line to the throne. (not counting her brother with Cadance.)

But if Equestria works by you picking your princesses, I have no idea who'll be next.

See, that's another good point.

I understand that some of us like the princess transition.

But the rest of us, like Azaxx and I, think it doesn't make sense.

It came out of nowhere.

Again, I repeat: What are they going to do with the rest of the show?

It really doesn't fit to her humble chaotic bookworm-character. It also came - like already mentioned - out of nowhere and gives me the feel as if I'm watching a regular girl's show.

Yes. Yes.

You understand as well.

Sometimes, it seems as if this extraordinary change in the show made the show... more ordinary. More like what a little girl would expect and be happy with.

But I'm NOT a little girl.

No, it hasn't changed. I'm looking forward to seeing where this new development in her character takes her. I hope the writers have something big planned for the season four premiere. I'm hoping it'll be worth the wait.

It didn't come out of nowhere. I have posted a thread explaining WHY this works and HOW the series was building up to it. Her brother is one of the Royal Guards for crying out loud, with the task of protecting Princess Celestia herself.

I'm not saying I don't want to see the rest of the show.

I'm also willing to see what they do with her.

But I'm not sure her princesshood is a good change to the show.

And I understand your facts, but what I'm saying is that they put the princesshood smack in the middle of the series. Doesn't that confuse you a little bit?

As someone else has already pointed out, the writers thought that the third season was going to be their last, so they decided to end the series there, but Hasbro alerted them that they were up for a new season, so we're pretty much stuck with her this way. I'm holding out hope that they won't just focus on Twilight and we get some character development on Scootaloo (we'd better) and Rainbow Dash, as well as the others. I hope that the show won't be wrapped up until all the characters' story arcs are wrapped up.

Yes, you're right.

All the focus on Twilight has made me uncomfortable.

If Twilight becomes more important than she has even now, what will happen to the others of the Mane 6?

I'm just saying that it won't be the same.

But I'm willing to see what the writers have in mind.

I'm sure they won't boot the others to the backseat while Twilight takes the wheel. The series has always been about these characters being a family and the bond that they have with each other overcoming all kinds of adversaries. While Twilight won't be the same, I hope that the others will remain the same as they grow and develop throughout the season. As for Spike, I could care less about him at the moment. He got two episodes this season. I hope they only give him one next season. Two is too much.
