Opinions on stem cell research

Searched and found nothing. I'm interested.

What are your thoughts and/or opinions on the research/overall use of embryonic stem cells. If it's allowed where you live, do you want it to be outlawed? If it's illegal where you live, do you want it to be legalized? Why or why not.

In America, it's been outlawed to research them with funding from the government; so you either have to be super rich, or willing to go to prison. Personally, I feel like this is ridiculous.

Well heres a theory. If we take tge embryo and split it into multiple cells before they become specified, and then allow then allow them to become embryos then wouldnt we have infinate stem cells?

And if taking this one life could save multiple, then isn't it the smart option.

Actually one of the good news things I have found out is they can now create stem cells from a single cell of an adult and copy millions of these cells now. It is kinda cool now the stem cell research is seeming to go away from useing an unborn fetus to themore ethical skin sample. I mean it kinda goes into the idea of keeping some morality or ethics in science.Imean I am glad someone has came up witha better alternitive to a morally darkand grey area one time. Also the new stem cells are less likely to cause cancers and severe sickness too so it is amazing to think about it.

Most people don't seem to have a problem with killing tons of babies, so I don't see why there's any debate over whether or not it's okay to use them for life saving research after the fact.

Although I am very glad that non-embryonic stem cells are becoming viable for the same stuff.

I am 100% in favor of stem cell research. Embryonic, non-embryonic; I don't care. This could save millions of lives, heal the blind, heal the injured and the sick, and even help ordinary people with less severe problems. In fact, we need more stem cell research.

I am not in agreement with stem cell research if it is embryonic, mostly because it's a moral issue for me. If you learn developmental biology like my friends and I have, you'll realize that the embryo is still a living being regardless. Plus, scientists have also found non-embryonic stem cells that can be just as useful for medical treatment. I'm all for that.

i will brohoof and salute this. I am for the progress of science and health. And although dev bio will tell me that the embryo is alive...i still don't consider it a viable human being...that's just me though

The use of fetal stem cells for the advancement of treatment for diseases like neuromuscular issues. I cant really say that its the wrong thing to do, but I cant say its right either. With this kind of research, there is no clearly defined morality. None that I can see. You are saving millions of lives with this research, but at the cost of unborn children. It comes down to which life you value more. Me personally, it's the mother-in-questions choice. If she decides to abort her baby, then I don't think anyone should stop her. Its her baby, at the end of the day. And if she does, use the fetus to advance the research. But never stop looking for alternatives. If you can do it without the need for fetal stem cells, do it. But don't take that choice away from them. And, to get a little graphic, abortion is like guns or drugs, in the sense that if you illegalize it, people will find a way to do it alternatively. So if they are going to do it anyway, at least give them a place to do it properly.
