Sonic Rainboom Discussion

I've noticed something about Sonic Rainbooms, The first one, massive event horizon  It reached from Manehattan to Canterlot, basically all of Equestria. and RD was just a filly. Second one, saved Rarity but didn't have nearly as much environmental impact,(not visible). And the third one, done as a favor to Celestia for Candance and Shining Armor had very little visible impact. I'm thinking some fate or destiny or magic thing affect the Rainbooms. Like the first one gave them their Elements of Harmony, (Applejack stopped lying about who she was and wanted to be and became Honest with herself, Twilight's massive dormant Magic potential was released, Pinkie got her first taste of Laughter and loved it, went as far as to get a Cuite Mark in spreading it, Rarity Generously gave a buttload of gems away for free when she could have sold or kept them, Fluttershy Kindly soothed terrified animals, the race itself was Rainbow Dash's act of Loyalty to Fluttershy) and everyone knows that the Elements are arguably the most powerful thing in Equestria.Second, Rarity's life was massively important, not nearly as much as the Elements though, and its shows in the Rainboom. Third, this was done as a solid to a friend. Not overly important in the long run, just for show.

So what is your take on the Sonic Rainboom's importance and impact.

I have to apologize about the horrendous grammar  I also have to keep this over 100 characters so.

To be fair, the main discussion was already well over one hundred characters. Pretty much two sentences is all you need to reach the limit, which I already have at the end of this sentence.

As for the main topic, I'm not sure. Perhaps she can actually control the power and size of the Rainboom? I'm not sure how she would pull that off, but that's one possible explanation. It doesn't really make that much sense, though, since it's just the effect that happens when she breaks the sound barrier.

So perhaps you're right about the importance of the Rainboom itself having an effect on the power and size of the Rainboom itself.

And I agree, Lauren Rainshy Twijack Parity is best pony.

I believe Sonic Rainbooms can be made, but not controlled, so sometimes they will be larger, other times they wont be as large. Thats really the only way to explain it.

Unless circumstances effect it, so perhaps location may contribute to it...

I never noticed that before, but it makes sense now. It makes me wonder how effective the sonic rainboom could be when used as an offensive weapon, should the Elements not be needed or otherwise not available.

Also, perhaps its impact is being lessened by Rainbow Dash's ability to achieve it more easily. The first time was the hardest, her second time was her trying to replicate it, and by the third time, she's figured it out, and can do it more easily.

I'd attribute it to circumstances more than anything. Rainbow Dash was in a race the first time she did it, so she was flying as fast as she possibly could. The second time she did it, she was trying to save Rarity, but probably wasn't flying as fast as possible. The third time she did it, she knew exactly how fast she needed to be going to achieve a rainboom, so she probably didn't go much faster than she needed to so she wouldn't strain or hurt herself (especially because it was simply for show).

I really think Sonic Rainbooms are sometimes controlled, sometimes happening unintentionally. Because when Rarity's life was in trouble, Rainbow Dash didn't really think about achieving a Sonic Rainboom; she was just trying to save a friend. But when it came to the wedding, she actually was trying to do a Sonic Rainboom.

No offence I think if she were trying to save Rarity she'd go as fast as possible though,

(but it is, you know, Rarity, so you may be right.)

This is just my crazy theory here... but I think the massive burst of magic from the first rainboom was a result of all the magic in the Elements going unused for almost 1000 years, leading to a buildup of magic that was unleashed in one big blast when one of the element holders called on it. They had tapped that magic many times after that, and never let it build up to that level again after that, leading to smaller rainbooms.
