mega thread Song Stuck in your Head Right Now

I just don't feel that Bohemian Rhapsody should have anything other than "Queen -" before it.

It's a masterpiece.

Well, I agree with that. I also refuse to listen to any other version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" other than Queen's, Weird Al's polka interpretation, and as of recent, the Muppet's homage/parody.

Well yes, but that's not how it's supposed to work.

Like, a cover of Bon Iver says "Bon Iver - Skinny Love (x Cover)", or "Bon Iver - I Can't Make You Love Me (Cover by x )"

-

And also, people who do covers can alter the lyrics and rhythm, that's what a cover is, but it's still "[Writer] - [song Title] (Cover by [x])"

It's actually quite complicated on how it works, Back in the age of vinyl records if you covered a song, You didn't even give credit to the band, just the person who wrote it, I just picked up the closet vinyl record I have next to me to give an example, The album I picked up and it has a cover of "Season of the Witch" on it, It doesn't say (Cover by Vanilla Fudge) it just gives the writers credit, In this case it says (D. Leitch), You don't even have to give the full name, Just the first letter of their name and the surname of the person who wrote it.

Now i'm gonna make things even more confusing (sorry :( ), If an artist has the right to cover a song and changes the lyrics, That particular version becomes partly there property, I'll give an example, "When The Levee Breaks" was recorded in 1929 and the writers credit belongs to Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie, However when Led Zeppelin expanded on the song and changed it around the writers credits became (Page, Plant, Jones, Bonham and Memphis Minnie).

Music ownership is a very complicated thing and I hope I helped make some sense out of it. :)

But I understand what you mean though, "Hi Ho Silver Lining" and "Make You Feel My Love" are two songs I enjoy, but not many people know the original artists. :(

Take care.

Daughter's singer is the greatest vocalist I've ever listened to.

I've been into vocaloids lately, yeah, I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but they are pretty catchy and well done once you get used to it.

My personal favorite so far is a rock vocaloid song by Kagamine Rin.

Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)

I spent exactly one year to the day Antony C and BronyCurious came out with their analysis of "A Canterlot Wedding" trying to track down that song they used in the end credits, unaware that it actually was credited at the end of the video.

"Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof."

I like this song. It sounds like... victory! :yay:

Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary.

Check out A Century of Song if you like music from before this millennium.
