So you've got a unique (well, unique to moderators) view of her. Yeah, in my experience internet-ing, I know the most annoying problem member is one who knows how to stay -just- within the rules.

 

Wish she could've shaped up though, since I do remember her being pretty intelligent. But then again, I've been hardly active for a long time now, so I probably saw the once-in-a-blue-moon things.

 

Unrelated: Know what are oddly entertaining? '90s video game commercials. There's just a certain charm to them. Maybe the '90'sness. Maybe the fact they're 2 seconds of game footage and 28 seconds of cheesy acting. I dunno.

As far as I know, she's only active on Steam, which is something my office computer can't access without shutting down the accounting program, which is you may know as something I need to run 24/7

Well, some people like to act like like that for responses and stuff, even though they know better. Or just think they're being r3b3lz. :/ Which sucks because they could add a lot to a forum otherwise.

It's a common thing in a public forum. Where people gather there will be some crankypants, and in this case the crankypants was a frequenter in this thread

Libby was an interesting specimen, and I can see how she rubbed people the wrong way. I thought she was enjoyable after I got past the blatant attacks. Thick skin begets thick skin, she was just searching for more people like her.

 

 

It is all about perspective.

 

The same situation can impact different people in so many different ways. Sympathizing or holding a bias can flip the tables in the completely opposite directions.

Well, the statement was a bit of an exaggeration and speaking more in terms of the general internet feelings towards certain groups, rather than every single last person.

 

So, not really, but the statement wasn't entirely valid to begin with.

All I'm going to say about Libertina is that she was quite funny but the way she acted around others, i.e her behaviour was consistently outside of anyone's comfort zone should they have encountered her. So much to the point where she became essentially a thorn in the staff's side and she got herself a ban in due time.

 

This just wasn't her domain, is all. Not even close. The majority of the folk here pride themselves with words of encouragement to their friends rather than crude jokes and blunt statements to build relationships, so there's that.

high functioning autism spectrum disorders makes you act completely different from the "norm". it hardwires your brain to go left while everyone else goes right, then they think you're funny/stupid/retarded/ridiculous for not taking the "right" way across the street.

 

there's also the internet-coined term Assburgers, which is people who pretend to be have a mental condition just because they can act like a complete idiot and blame it on their "disease". not sure if that furthers the stigma of autism or not, though.

I used to go to 4chan. And I posted there. A lot. I still kinda do, but much less than I did before.

 

So, here's a tidbit of information for you: The "typical" user you just described is probably the most hated type of user on 4chan. Those types of people stay on /b/, usually. And guess what? Pretty much every single other board on 4chan hates /b/, and considers it to be a containment area for the bullshit that it's users continually spew, so that it doesn't spread to other boards.

 

If you got caught saying "WE R ANONYMOOSE LEEGUN LOL" on any board (and even I'm beginning to think /b/ itself is starting to wean itself from this), you would get laughed out existence.

 

Sadly, most Anons get stereotyped as "those" kinds of posters though, because that's what the media portrays them as. What can you do.

Well, I know what autism does. I'm autistic myself. That's a fact I don't really throw around, so there. But still, it seems odd. I mean, "retard" would be more effective than "autistic" as an insult, since autistic people are more "normal" than the mentally retarded. Insulting a person for such a thing is scumbag behavior either way though.

 

And know of people who pretend to have mental conditions. "omg i did something bad that means i am bipolar and autistic give me attention :( :(" and the like.

 

@bluetrace: Well, even if it is a case of squeaky wheels with the bad anons, they're still a problem. I mean, a discussion site like that without a few rules to prevent such things is a breeding ground for chaos.
