The day I find out about Bronycon is the year they host it in Baltimore instead of New York :/

 

I was probably going to go if it was in new york but Baltimore seems a bit too far for just one train ride there...

 

I drove 6.5 hours to get to BronyCon in Secaucus, New Jersey last year. The con and the people there were worth every minute of it. If there's any way you can make it, I would encourage you to do so.

Except for one year when it was held in Providence, BotCon, the premiere Transformers convention, has always been held in cities far away from where I live.  That required expensive train or airfares and extra hotel nights.  Having moved twice in the last three years, I don't have cash for an expedition like that in 2013. 

 

Luckily, I don't have that problem with BronyCon.  I should have gone last year but I wasn't as into MLP:FiM then as I am now.  I've been to Baltimore several times and I know my way around so this will be a piece of cake for me.  The only shame is that the people I talk to the most here are either too young to go or they live too far away to attend.  That's OK.  I have plenty of time between now and August to familiarize myself with the people who will be there.

Sorry about that everypony, just suffered a massive "awesome attack" and my body simply couldn't handle it all at once.  Spent the last few hours in a catatonic state babbling on about the forums, Bronycon, and for some strange reason goats.    LOL, IDK! 

 

Anyways, this sounds amazing!!!  I'm really going to have to try to get out to Baltimore now, and while I certainly can't say whether or not I'll be able to, since I really don't know what I'll be doing this summer yet, this bit of news is the largest incentive I've had yet for at least making the effort to get out there somehow.  In addition, the developments that are just around the corner sound A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, AMAZING!!!!!!  Feld0, you've outdone yourself this time; once these developments take place, there's real, solid reason to believe that our forums, and the Poniverse as a whole, could actually become the new global center on the Internet for Bronydom in general.  I'm not exaggerating, that's straight from the heart dead serious right there!  This continual effort from our amazing team of moderators, and especially our beloved Feldian Overlord, at constantly finding new ways to not just improve bronies' experiences in the fandom, but innovate it as well, is why I've always held such high respect and love in my heart for the forums, as well as why that love continues to grow by the day.  Once again, my hat's off to each and every moderator, administrator, technician, and community steward that has made all of this possible.  YOU GUYS ROCK, and don't you ever forget that!!!

MLP Forums' official presence will be limited to a panel and booth. However, If everything goes well, we will organize a meetup group for members as well. There is already a thread here for meetup planning.

You may have noticed the little BronyCon banner that went up on the front page. Its placement is no accident.

 

Today, I'm proud to announce that MLP Forums has been invited to BronyCon!

 

For those of you not in the loop, BronyCon is the world's largest brony convention (hence, the name). After four successful events in New York, it has moved to Baltimore for the summer of 2013, where the con will be held at its largest venue yet.

 

We've been approached by the BronyCon team with an opportunity to get on stage and show the world what the biggest forum on the ponynet is all about. To say that we're excited for this opportunity is an understatement - with a panel, booth, and over ten staff members in attendance, we'll have a lot to show.

 

Those of you who were with us to celebrate our first anniversary as a forum community may recall the mission statement I posted:

 

 

Many members have contacted me and the other forum staff to express their thanks for upholding the first two of those goals. Each has had a touching story to tell about how they found MLP Forums, settled into the community, and found new places to hang out in, conversations to chat in, and people to bond with.

 

But as our third goal shows, MLP Forums is only the beginning. Those of you who have been following Pony.fm will be aware that every MLP Forums account doubles as a Pony.fm account. Go ahead - try logging in over there and looking around.

 

This August, at BronyCon, we will present six full-scale projects, each serving a specific need in the fandom. Created by bronies, for bronies, all of these projects and more will be part of an integrated "supercommunity"...

 

Welcome to Poniverse.

 

 

I'm thrilled to finally announce what our internal teams been working on largely in secret for the past few months. Poniverse is the name of the network that will unite MLP Forums, Pony.fm, and every future pony project we make, and it will take the community you already know and love to the next level.

 

More information on what exactly Poniverse is and what it means for MLP Forums moving forward will be released in the next four months leading up to BronyCon. Poniverse will bring bronies together in unprecedented new ways, and will truly be something the whole fandom can enjoy.

This is great news. The whole Poniverse thing is kinda exciting too, and I can't wait to see what projects we will undergo soon.

 

I still remember the day I joined the forum, when we weren't as big as we are now, with only a few thousand members. I still can't believe we've grown so much in only a few years.

 

I know I've been incredibly inactive, but still, I hope to be able to rebuild my name in the community as it continues to grow.

I would love to go having just come and finally managed to get some sleep from the first Ponyconvention in Australia (PonyconAU), but the price to fly to the US would be my biggest barrier. Would be nice to go just a guest though and enjoy the con myself instead of being a volunteer, but that's just part of the sacrifice you have to make and I can say I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Okay I am convinced on going actually YES I am going to come hell or high water. I could just basically drive up there from where I am at! It is only 4 and 1/2 hours from where I live which is nothing for me. I just bookmarked the website and some planning will have to be done on my part but shoot this actually seems possible :3 I am freaking excited !!!!
