You know what game came out not-so-recently that I never hear anyone talking about?

Battle Kid.

A seriously awesome game based on platformers of old.

I know it has been implemented in mainstream Nintendo games like Smash Bros, but I would have to say the earthbound (Mother) series. Highly addictive!

Well, the three most obscure games that I know of are in order of personal opinion:

1. Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2. I love these games. Making a dungeon, training you creatures, killing heroes, and taking over lands. It's good to be bad. (Tag line from the second game.)

2. Bio Menace. You play as Snake Logan, a top CIA operative, who is fighting his way through a city full of mutants with only an M-16 and his wits.

3. Commander Keen 1-6. Need I say more about this series? One of the best Apogee game series ever made.

I think "The Neverhood" would fit in this category nicely. It's a point and click adventure game done entirely with traditional claymation techniques. It's has really a funny and intriguing story, and some of the most quirky yet atmospheric background music that I have ever heard. It also has a sequel (which I have never played) called "Skullmonkeys". I'm seriously considering buying both of them.

Odin Sphere, an epic 2d Action RPG

Bully, basically GTA the schoolyard version

Madworld, a ridiculously awesome beatemup for the Wii

Okami, a great Zelda-like adventure

Not sure what can be considered obscure, 'cause there a lot of stuff that isn't well-known around here (In my city, I mean) but that are relatively popular anywere else... So, I'll go with what I'm almost the only one to like in my city...

- Ace Attorney series

- Professor Layton series

- Fire Emblem series

- HarmoKnight (new game by Gamefreaks, only in the 3DS shop)

- Calling (Wii game, a japanese-style survival horror game)

- Scribblenaut series

- Amazing Island (pretty cool Gamecube game...)

I really like the Etrian Odyssey series, a DS/3DS niche turn based rpg series with a great skill system and map creation tool.

I also love Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, a DS rpg not many seem to know about that mixes Tetris style elements into its system.

I love you.

If anyone else knows of this game, I'll be amazed.  It's called The Ship, and you get it on Steam.  You pretty much have to kill your target while keeping up with basic needs, like the ones you'd see in The Sims, stuff like hunger, hygiene, bladder, etc.  If you need a better understanding of the game, watch this.

Every Wario land/ware/world game ever. Those are usually ignored, but they're hilarious. Possibly Billy Hatcher as well, that's a nice game.

Rhythm Heaven Wii: It's difficult to explain using words... but it's fun and unbelievably awesome!

Custom Robo for the Gamecube: This game took up so much of my childhood and it was a ridiculously fun game with friends. I really want a revival for games like this. It was a fun little RPG with a customizable action element. I didn't like the DS "sequel" though, I didn't like the story or characters nearly as much.

EDIT: oh hey, I posted here before. Oh well, have 2 more games!

When nerds over the age of 20 converse, the topic of 8-bit and 16-bit games invariably arises. Somehow, in the over 9000 discussions I've had with others my age, not a one of them had ever heard of The Magic of Scheherazade. It's the first RPG I ever played, one of the finest games on the NES, and definitely my favorite for the console. Please give this a shot if you're into retro gaming. Why this game didn't get more attention, I have no idea.

I loved Scheherazade. Thanks for reminding me of it. I don't remember where me and my brother got it from but we loved it. The only thing is we never beat it because we couldn't figure out how to beat the final boss. That was at least 15 years ago when we played it so we were quite young. I should really play it again so I can beat it.

EDIT: I just remembered two Nintendo games that I use to love to play. The first is Cobra Triangle. I don't think very many people have heard of it, or at least played it. It's a boat racing type game involving more than just racing. Here, have a video.

The other is Dragon Spirit. Not sure if anyone has heard of this one. Just imagine a vertical scrolling shooter, with dragons. It's an awesome game on the NES. If you kill the serpent at the intro level you get the blue dragon, which is the real way to play the game. If you die at the serpent, you get the gold dragon and you only get play about half the levels, but the game is easier. Here's a video for it.

There was this really neat game for N64 that no one ever seems to have played, much less remembers the existence of, so...Jet Force Gemini. Despite average graphics, average gameplay and forgettable characters, this game had one of THE best soundtracks in the entire N64 library, hooves-down.

No one seems to have played Pandora's Tower, which is a real shame, because it is such a good game! It is both an action adventure game and a wonderful love story. Get it if you have the chance!

My favorite obscure series the Zero's Escape Series for the DS/3DS

Its got some great escape the room puzzle-style gameplay and a twisting conspiracy-laced story that will blow your mind. Its super hard to find though.

2. Virtue's Last Reward

Wish I had seen this before. Clearly one of my most favorite obscure game is The Journeyman Project: Turbo. And practically the other two games as well. Nobody seems to remember how awesome this game was, especially for it's time and age. It may be due to the fact that gaming consoles were more important in that timeframe, and gaming on computers pick up speed until the late 90s. Sadly, The Journeyman Project was overshadowed by other games that came out soon afterwards, due to higher graphics capabilities.

Still love the soundtrack, though. Can't wait for the re-release, Pegasus Prime.

I remember the Journeyman Project Seraphim. I use to play it a lot when I was a kid. Couldn't get too far because I lost the book that had a lot of important information in it that I needed. Another one that I remember was Kings Quest. I either had 4 or 5. Don't remember which one.

One of Epic's earlier works that I use to love to play and enjoyed the music to was Dare to Dream. Another of Epic's earlier works that I loved to play was Jazz Jackrabbit.

Then there was Raptor: Call of the Shadows. A vertical scrolling shooter on DOS.

Anybody remember the Galaxy of Games disks that had a bunch of obscure games on them? I found several games on those that were actually really fun to play.

So many memories coming back to me.

An obscure game to me personally is Ico, this game has not only been underrated for quite a while, but it needs more attention.

Most people tend to forget about this game because of it's simplistic gameplay, very short length, and cover, but this is a game worth trying, especially if you like games with emotion and character bonding.

I mean just look at it's intro, I enjoy the music in this intro.
