I felt extreme sympathy for Twilight's pain, being abandoned is a horrible thing. Being rejected by family, your peers, and even your mentor must have unbearable pain associated with it.

Sad ponies always break my heart. happy.png

Well, I understood the other characters reasons to act like that, but if I was Twilight there'd be a big "I told you so" moment in the end.

For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out.

And I'm just getting started.

1st scene- surprised me how over-dramatic Twilight was being.  I mean the six and her brother were bearable, but then came Celestia.  Holy cow, I felt so bad for Twilight.

2nd scene- This is one of the darkest things in the series.  I first thought she was condemning Twilight to the depths of Tartarus.

3rd scene- It was crazy

The first scene I'm not really sure. Part of me was angry, and another part felt embarrassed for Twilight. I just couldn't help but wonder why A) Twilight was the only one to suspect her and  her friends didn't believe her to the point of taking the side of Cadence and Shining Armor whom they don't actually know. Twilight has never shown to be extremely possessive like that over anyone, so it should have been a red flag that she was so distressed. If I know my friend is a fairly reliable person and they start saying how much someone I don't know has changed, of course I'm going to believe them! Given that Twilight has never proven to be much of an outright liar, she should have been given some leeway. If her friends had given her the time of day, Twilight may not have escalated to such extremes... which apparently they don't learn in this go around and need a whole episode about not being crappers that ignore their friends (Lesson Zero... the very next episode -_-')

The second scene I wasn't so surprised at, I knew she was evil and usually villains will attack you if you try to interfere with their plans.

Now the third scene really surprised me, I've always thought that changlings were really disturbing in appearance.

It ticked me off that even her best friends were so readily willing to go with Cadence and leave her, even though they only spent a couple days with her.

@@Mint_Melody, in my opinion, I don't think that anyone is implying anything that said that Twiley is a liar -- there were no signs in the show that the other five Mane 6 ponies or the Princess herself thought Twiley was lying.

Liar may be a bit strong of a word, but the point is you have a friend that usually tells the truth. She may over react sometimes, but not to the point where they shouldn't have believed her. I mean, it's not like they knew Cadence. Why do you believe someone who has been a jerk to you over your honest friend? I just thought it was foolish.

I was wondering how they were going to fix the heartache they just made about a million people feel. It hurt me down in my feels until they remedied the situation.

To be quite honest i was already tearing up in that scene. It fell the same way when you had a huge fight with your friends and they didn't believe a single thing you said. At that point I wanted to hug Twilight badly.

It's easy to think "Oh, Poor Twilight, all the others HISS HISS!" But that's because people get emotional and subjective when they watch it. People forget that it only happened because Twilight handled the situation in the WORST. WAY. POSSIBLE! You can't just go accusing a member of the Royal family without absolutely no evidence and as viciously as you can. It's not like "I have reason to believe you're hiding someone and I want some answers," No, it was basically, "EVIL, EVIL, EVIL!!!" at the top of her lungs like some spoiled brat.

Wouldn't YOU have been a little peeved if you were in SA's position? Seriously, people don't cut the guy, or the others any slack when it comes to this scene.

Do you have a brother or other sibling?  Put yourself in Twilight's position.  Your brother/sister is marrying someone you think is extremely dangerous and could potentially harm and/or KILL your sibling.  Are you honestly saying you wouldn't bat an eye at it?

As far as the Celestia is concerned, it wasn't the initial reaction everyone had that irritated me.  That was understandable.  It was for dramatic effect.  So as far as that scene is concerned, I actually expected it.  In fact, I thought it was a really well done scene, with alot of dramatic tension, more than you usually see in a show like this.

No, what irritated me about the 2-parter (and was borderline offensive to me) was at the end with how she (Celestia) brushed off the fact that none of them could trust Twilight (someone that they've known far longer than the other two, especially compared to Shining Armour) and acted so nonchalant about it.  The others knew Shining Armour and Cadance for all of two days, and they've known Twilight for TWO YEARS!  Think about the math there.  She didn't even apologize about the fact that she didn't trust her own student, who's been under her wing since she was a filly!  All she did was turn it into a lesson about 'following your instincts' instead of apologizing and turning it into a lesson about 'trust' (a lesson that has way more relevance to friendship than the moral we got).

Understand that I am making this post and still holding fast to my opinion that this was overall an excellent two parter.

I can see that what the show was trying to tell us was that a princess, to some extent, has an ego more than anypony else. So, an apology is something that might lower her standards or status in front of others, that's why she said about a lesson to be learned instead.

Yes, but is bursting into the rehearsal screaming that the bride is 'evil' really the best way to go about it?  Perhaps a more acceptable tactic would be to calmly talk to Shining Armor, or better yet, Princess Celestia/Luna about her concerns.  Then maybe they would have had time to think about it logically and connected it to the threat against Canterlot and the mass chaos could have been avoided.  I can also say that based on the evidence that Twilight was providing, if I was one of her friends, I would have thought it was an issue of jealousy as well.

Of course I'm not saying that. Yes, Twilight was right in trying to warn everyone and wanting to protect her brother, that's admirable of her and I totally understand her perspective. But the problem is that she handled it in the worst way possible. It's not what she tried to do, rather HOW she tried to do it.

As for the rest, yes, I am a little mift that the matter was never really given a sense of closure, if by a little more interaction between Twilight, her friends and brother and reconciliation. But I suppose one big problem is the time length and they had to wrap everything up.

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN that must have hurt dayumm boy.

I was just wide open mouthed when I first saw this scene. I knew somewhere in my mind that Twilight was ofcourse right about everything but the tone in Shinings words was sooooooo filled with hate. I think this scene is a bit like the scene in "the crystal empire" where twilight goes through Sombra's magic black magic door thingy.

My heart completely dropped when I saw that scene. I was completely...I don't know how to describe it, but it felt as if time just froze and I was just there looking at what happened.

I knew she had it all wrong when I saw how Cadence reacted, but the surprising thing was, Celestia didn't correct her after all the rest of her friends, including Shining Armor abandoned her. All she was just add on to the already painful double-whammy.

I didn't cry but I felt terrible for Twilight. I knew she was right, but her friends were hanging her out to dry. And Celestia's critical non sequitur "you have a lot to learn, Twilight Sparkle," just made me mad. Really? She, in all her wisdom, doesn't try to understand why Twi's behaving like this? Doesn't respect that she's risking alienation from her family, surrogate family and the whole city to say something she honestly believes? Some teacher!

Speaking of that, I'm still waiting for her to apologize to Twilight. It really would've been the right thing to do, don't you think?
