Yes my parents know. I considered telling my dad first because I was more comfortable with him and he probably wouldn't mind anyway. It was a Saturday with the second to last episode of season 3, and I was helping him clean off snow from his and my mom's car. At the time, I really didn't know the term brony, but I just simply told him that "I'm going to miss the new episode of My Little Pony". I don't remember how he reacted, but it wasn't a bad one (although I really felt offended when he decided to call MLP stupid this morning). I told my mom months later. We were just sitting at the kitchen table, and I decided to show her my new MLP wallet. I told her everything and what the fandom consisted of.That also wasn't a bad reaction. It was a week for my dad and 5 months for my mom from the time I became a brony.

Just as the title says, my dad finally realizes that I'm a brony. Some of you might be wondering, "Well how did he find out?" Welp, he went online, his homepage is Fox news or MSN or something, and he saw one the front page "What its like to be a brony" or sometjing like that. So I'm lying down on the couch watching the news because my dad wanted to, and he said, "So you're a brony,' it kinda took me by suprise a little, but I said, "Yup," and he continued, "That's a male fan of the show My Little Pony? You know thats intended for girls?" and I said, "I know dad" then he asked if my brother was because he watches the show, but he's younger thanme. He goes on to ask me if I have any other friends who are bronies and I say just one in real life, Cody. After that the conversation dies and we go bck to watching the news. I thought to myself, "You should've known I was a brony by now with all the pony mini figures, plushies, and puzzles I have. But I guess he did'nt know what the term was.

Anyways thanks for reading my epic story, if you did? Let me know if your parents know that you're brony or not?

Hey, Gemini Eclipsed! Looks like there was an existing thread about the same topic, so I merged yours with that one. Next time, it'd be awesome if you ran a search before creating a new thread. Thanks, and have a great day! :)

I currently live with at least one of my parents, so they know. When you have as much pony merch that I do... there's really no possible way to hide it away from the co-owner of the place.

They accept it to a degree I think. Even though sometimes they tease me about it or sometimes complain whenever I buy something pony-related. That annoys me, but whatever. It's my money at the end of the day and I pay my bills on time along with any fees that are due. So yeah, whatever.

My parents know and they call me "immature". I hate it. They tell me to "grow up" and that just gets me on my royal nerves.

I agree. I hate this notion that being mature requires you having certain tastes.

Back on topic, yes. My mother is fully aware of my affinity of the show. She even let me and my sister force her to watch two episodes.

Exactly. I know some 20+ year old guys and girls who are still into pokemon and all of that stuff. To get back on topic, parents need to stop stereotyping because this is what they're doing.

I have a family of 6 people, two dogs, and a lizard. (not kidding about the lizard, whoovians)

My mom knows, she is completely fine with it. she said when she found out she said "it's no different from your sister liking anime" which is true. My sister is 11 and watches Highschool of the dead, which I find to be almost as disturbing as watching porn with your family while you eat dinner.

My dad despises the show. IDK if we watched FOX, but he once told me "I'd honestly rather have a gay son than a brony son."

My sister was there when I told her my friends dared me to watch the first episode, since then I watched it in secret, so she may know, but shes quiet about it.

My brother, whom I share a room with, said he doesn't like the show, because of what he knows about the fandom (I showed him SMILE HD after he said that and he said his opinion still stands) and We've argued about it before.

My other brother is in Collage and I once showed him something MLP related, but he didn't mind it.

I've told my mom and she kinda thought it was stupid it wasn't until I asked if I could go to Everfree Northwest and she freaked saying that some of the guys could be pedofiles and that they might try to get to me... Haven't told my father though just because he already has issues with me playing so many video games, and it seems as if he thinks I shouldn't become a video game developer so I don't want him to be disappointed in me. My Brother and my Sister know they are both fine with it except my Brother thinks that its wrong that mean older than 21 watch and enjoy the show. So most of my family knows, I've told my friends half of them refer to it as gay pony crap, and the other don't care, are fine with it, or are Brony's themselves although that's only like 4 of them. It did seem to distance my best friend from me though which saddens me but if that's how it is then that's how it is.

Nope. It's not that I'm a "closet brony," it's just that they haven't asked.

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

Yes, my parents do know and I'm very open about it.

I'd say that they actually love that I am one ^^

I am the #1 Apple Bloom fan. Time to find a signature of her...

Mine do, but I never discuss it with my dad. He's walked in my room and seen my walls covered with pony, but it's more of a disappointment thing to him. My mom doesn't really seem to care, though. I talk to her about it occasionally. ^^

Do you have any sisters/brothers who'd be interested in MLP?

Nope, I was an only child. Some would say a good thing, but I would have preferred to have a sibling. ^^"

I'm glad I have 1 sibling, though it's a girl we can bond very well :3

HELL no. My step Dad has very strict views on gender roles and my mum would probably take the piss out of me a bit or perhaps speak to me about it in a condescending manner. Also, they don't need to know :P In fact, only one person I know irl knows I watch MLP.

As far as I know, they don't. My mom would probably be fine with it, a little taken back at first, but fine with it. My dad is a completely different story. He's very conservative in his tradition and I'd probably be in some hot water if he ever found out. I really want to tell them so badly, to get it off of my chest, but the thought of the tension that would follow kinda stops me from doing so. I also want pony merch and to attend a con so badly, but I don't feel like sharing that with my parents anytime soon. Maybe someday I'll gather the courage though.

My Dad knows, he found it a little bizarre, but didn't seem bothered by it.

I tried showing him the first two episodes to get him interested, I even made him promise to watch episodes of the show (on Netflix) with me on my birthday last year.

I had.. somewhat mixed results, though he cheated somewhat when he pulled out his laptop and started playing Solitaire (I think) during the first fourth of the first episode, he kept saying he was watching the episode, but thanks to the fact he had that laptop around, I couldn't tell for certain.

He did sort of make up for it by putting his laptop away when we got to the second episode, and made it clear he was genuinely watching the episode, he even chuckled at most of the scenes with Pinkie Pie.

Unfortunately, the first two episodes weren't enough and my attempt at getting him interested failed, but then, my dear ol' Dad is the sort of person who's interests range from sitcoms (ala Two and a Half Men and Modern Family), Crime shows (ala Heat of the Night and Law and Order), or certain movies (Scorpion King, Armageddon, Taken, and the Iron Man movies to name afew).

As for the rest of my family, my second-youngest sister (age 20) got interested in the show I think around the same time I did, but decided to more or less leave the fandom because she caught the.... more unpleasent side to us. She still likes the show to some extent and is cool with talking about show with me, but she isn't really a major in the fandom anymore.

My youngest sister (age 8) loves the show and has quite a good amount of MLP toys, I even got her some of those said toys (like a certain talking Princess Cadance, for example). She knows about the Periphery Demographic and even knows I'm a brony. I even showed her a good chuck of some MLP fan works, I read her some one-shot fanfics, showed her some pics from Beavernator (which she found strange, but also cute), I even showed her some fan videos, like Snowdrop, Double Rainboom, and even Adventures of Button Mash (along with the Don't Mine At Night Parody).

She even has some friends that know I'm a brony, but they don't think bad of me for it, my youngest sister did tell me one of her friends thought I was weird, but that's it.

But then, I made no effort to hide that I was a brony, when I borrowed some MLP comics from my public library, I balantly admitted to the librarians that I was a brony, they only reacted by saying 'there's nothing wrong with that', heck I admitted to a cashier at Fred Meyer that I was a Brony when I came here to buy a birthday present for my youngest sister (which happened to be an MLP toy, that miniset with figures of Applebloom, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon to be exact), the cashier looked surprised, but didn't seem bothered either.

Seems the city of Spokane, Washington might be somewhat brony and pegasister friendly, but I don't know, I don't get out often enough know for certain. Does anyone else live in this city that know for certain?

I've been there for Robotics competitions and it seemed nice enough though I never brought up that I was a Brony due to most of my team mates believing it to be stupid and I wasn't to eager to bring it up for that reason. So I don't know but I know most people in Seattle are fine with it.

Yup, and they don't even care much, they love to see my sculptures when they're done, and hell they're even paying for the entry fee of everfree for me, because it was set on my birthday

Awww :( I really really really want to go to everfree but my mom will probably just say that she doesn't just want my friend and I going because there could be pedophiles even though I'm 17

I know its because she cares about me but shes way to overprotective sometimes.

Aye, they know, just as my friends, and probably anyone who met me even once...

I don't have a reason to hide with this. I collect stuff like plushies, mugs, t-shirts and so on, and no-once cares... Sometimes someone tell a joke 'bout my pony-loving, but it's all in jokes :v

My parent didn't care to much. They're probably happy that I choose ponies instead of drugs x]

Also, they buyed me a big poster for christmass.

My dad probably wouldn't care if he knew and my mom doesn't even know what a brony even is (at least I don't think she does). She's seen me watching the show, I have a few pictures on my computer and iPod, and I've mentioned it a few times but they haven't caught on or asked...so let's leave it at that. :)

They know, though they probably don't know what exactly ''brony'' or ''pegasister" means XD They don't care and I openly talk about things I like in my house, so they're aware that I watch My Little Pony and have friends, who also like this. I once even sent links to first two episodes to my dad to watch. His English is rather weak and for me watching cartoons was always a good way to practice my language, so I thought it would also work for him.
