What Jobs Will Twilight Have as Princess?

As we all know, our dear friend Twilight Sparkle has advanced to another step in her journey of discovering the magic of friendship- becoming Princess Twilight Sparkle (Twilicorn). Everyone has an opinion on the topic, whether supporting it or not.

 

Me personally, I have mixed feelings.

 

Of course we will all miss the unicorn we know and love, but just because she has a new pair of wings doesn't make her any different of a pony! I know this to be true, but I am worried that the story will be taken in the wrong direction and have a totally different feel for the show. Perhaps change is a good thing - if it is done correctly. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

 

So, whilst we wait, let's ponder the possibilities! What are your opinions on the direction of the show? How will this unexpected twist change/effect the plot? What are some of the new royal duties that Twilight must now read up on?

I guess Twilight's royal duties would still be protecting & watching over Ponyville. Or at least, she will able to move on to another duty that she might to learn from her studies.

I don't know what she'll do. Cadence dosen't seem to do much. I'm hoping she'll remain in Ponyville and keep having adventures with her friends. If she must remain an Alicorn, that would be the best fit for me.

 

It would be cool if Tara Strong did an "interview" as Twilight, discussing the changes in the finale and what's ahead for her.

I dunno if I'm as worried it takes away from the specialness of being royalty as it is that its like, well what is it exactly they need another ruler for? Xd.

 

I kinda expected Twilight to become some form of ruler eventually, but not quiet as soon really.

 

As long as Twilight stays herself and her friends and her stick around in Ponyville I don't really care. I still think overall Regular Twilight is a little more adorable then Twilicorn, but I suppose Twilicorn has a sort of.. Majestic look to her.

 

I can't change the show so I might as well adapt though, It doesn't bother me alot seeing as she doesn't seem to have changed her personality much, which is good.

Honestly, do the Princesses in that show do anything more than just laze around and talk or read messages? But this could be giving the viewers a chance to see what they do instead of just that. We've had very few clues as to what they do so far. Best we've seen is Celestia going to "Saddle Arabia" for whatever she was doing there. Time for some across-the-world episodes/montages!

If Equestria really is made up of a few cities, then I would have to agree with @@Zeno, I would LOVE to see a bit more of their world! Traveling outside of Equestria could be an epic season in itself! I would also like to see some faraway lands. For instance, why do some ponies have accents if they are all from Equstria? I know the whole regional difference, but Photo Finish speaks with what seems like a german accent! It would be interesting to see another "country" like Equestria with different cultures and traditions 

 

I don't know, this is probably too advanced for a simple toy franchise, but I think it would be FABULOUS if they expanded it to fit the entire audience (Without making it stupid)

And what about the "zebra" land where Zecora comes from?  Or France?  Remember, Fluttershy specifically mentions "French haute couture" in Suited for Success.  Not to mention how Apple Bloom starts *speaking* French in The Cutie Pox.

 

Though it's kind of funny if you think about it:  You have Equestria, Saddle Arabia, the Changeling Kingdom, whatever Africa-like country Zecora comes from, and... just plain old France  

 

Back to the main point of the thread, though, I'm a little worried because I really can't think of any real changes to Twilight's station in life that wouldn't affect the show's dynamic.  Yeah, Celestia could send her off to other lands/areas to help out with their various issues, but... she sort of already did that in The Crystal Empire, without having any special authority.

Diddly all, actually. There is an assumption that 'Princess' means a lot more than it really does. 'Princess', even in real life, just means someone is of the nobility. That nobility does not in any way mean authority or responsibility.

 

In any case, Twilight was already acting as an extension of Celestia's authority ever since she arrived in Ponyville. That's how Twilight could walk in and take over any task that normally would be run by the local government (as represented by Mayor Mare), and that local government couldn't stop her if they wanted to. This new title just formalizes the arrangement.

 

Likely in the show there will be some minor ceremonial duties that will be foisted off on her, to keep her busy. The Equestrian equivalent of throwing the first pitch of the season and all that. I would bet that in the first episode of Season 4 there will be some bureaucrat-type following her around telling her what she can't do, until she blows a gasket and 'upsets the social order', similar to what Rarity eventually did in Sweet and Elite. All to teach the life lesson that a change in title or status shouldn't change who you are.

Because, if it will be Apple Jack Pinkie Pie etc. I think that would be kind of stupid because they are pretty much the same age, in my mind. and It will just be weird. I fear that they will ruin the My Little Pony universe as well as fans, the TV show and the feel of the show. She must be more responsible. all though she is already. Well, here's the thing that alot of people aren't thinking about.  Twilight and her friends have been learning about the magic of friendship for three seasons.  So now that Twilight has advanced to the next level, they have to apply what they've learned in situations that might not necessarily be as simple as the ones they were in before.  Essentially, now things have to get bigger, and it has to be about more than just learning a simple friendship lesson.  It's essentially the 'escalation factor'.  When someone changes or upgrades, then naturally, the situations need to change or upgrade to remain challenging and interesting.

Perhaps some researchy-thingy ? Going to the Zebrakistan to consult local shamans about magic (saving them from a passing-by villain in the process) ? That would be neat, I'd love to see more backstory on zebras

The show probably won't be all that different. Twilight might not even have duties at first, because she isn't a full-fledged princess yet. She's a princess-in-training. She'll have to learn how to perform various royal tasks here and there, and hopefully do more traveling, but for the most part, the show will probably still be equally focused on the mane six, and Twilight probably won't be away from them all that often.
