Shocked by Luna's official persona?

Personally, I didn't take to her off the bat mostly because I was expecting a shy, timid Luna to appear. But, after my third viewing of the episode, she really grew on me. So much so that she's replaced Rainbow Dash as my third favorite character (Twilight's always best pony, and I just love Pinkie Pie's broken personality).

 

So, what do you guys think of the official Luna?

I loved her from the beginning. At first I didn't realize how much she had changed since her short appearance in S1 ep2 but even after I did, it still didn't affect my opinion of her. They probably hadn't really developed her character back then since she makes such a short appearance so what you see now is how she's really meant to be. I'm just glad they didn't make her sad or depressed like the fandom does.

I didn't expect anything from her personality as I don't really read fanfics or anything. If anything I expected her to be more dominating than that. She was pretty sweet character and I can foresee them team using Luna as plot device more in the future.

I was a bit shocked at first, but now I definitely believe that loud Luna is best Luna.

I wasn't a big fan of the loudness, but it isn't so bad now. I think it was less annoying once we heard her real voice. I also thought at first that the usage of we and us meant that NMM was still a part of her. It was bugging me a lot, but then I watched a second time and heard how it's the royal way or something... Anyway, love this episode, love Luna, it's all good.

The yelling was amazing lol. I loved the whole "booming robot" effect that it carried

 

I loved her from the beginning. At first I didn't realize how much she had changed since her short appearance in S1 ep2 but even after I did, it still didn't affect my opinion of her. Speaking of her appearance, I don't really know why everypony was flipping out over that. I think that it shows how Nightmare had such an overall impact on her. It might change back to that creamy blue if/once she catches up with modern times.

 

I thought the yelling and the use of the royal "we" made more sense than the timid, and shy Luna. That the fanfic like to depict her as.

 

The "we" thing kept making me think of Trixie lol

I really loved her, was a bit shocked in the beginning just taking her in, but by the part she was walking away dissapointed in her first scene i was sold on her :D

 

And everything that came afterwards just made it stick :D

She shows soo much emotion in the episode, happy, sad, feeling rejected, angry, sarcastic, playful, warm and friendly

 

And she turns the spiders alive so they walk into the web, how is that not the best thing ever? Dont get what came over those ponies, but then again i do have a fascination and love for spiders :D

 

and some of her quotes.... "huzzah!" "The fun has now been doubled!"

How can i not just love her character to bits? wanna see more of her soon! :)

Personally, I was surprised at this version of Luna, but not in a bad way. She does really remind me of Trixie at times. I wonder what would happen if the two met. They both wear a mask; Luna the mask of royal authority (She seems to dislike this, but it is all she has ever known. I think that having to distance herself from her subjects and show control and power in part caused her to become Nightmare Moon), Trixie wears the mask of the performer (She is arrogant and adores attention. She makes herself out to be better than everyone and distances herself lest she be found out.)

I for one thought her new personality was adorable but I couldn't tell if she was wearing a costume or not because she usually has glossy blue hair and a lighter colored body. Maybe she recovered some of her magic after returning and that's what made her hair all "Celestia-like" or maybe it's a wig, i dunno but I want to see more of her.

I like this Luna better then any of the fanfic Luna's. Her choice of words however is slightly annoying and though I understand why if/when she comes back in another episode I hope she's gotten used to how everpony else speaks.

I laughed so hard at her archaic vernacular. It was so funny to see her unintentionally scaring everypony. THE TRADITIONAL ROYAL VOICE had me in stitches, as did THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED and HOW MANY POINTS DO I RECIEVE?

It would've been cool if the reason she spoke about herself using we and us meant that NMM still resided in her, and when she learned the joys of the holiday, she left and that's why she got her normal voice back. That'd be pretty sweet!

I was really disappointed at first, actually. The voice was what killed it for me. However, once this scene happened:

 

 

"How is this?"

"A little quieter, Princess."

"How is this?"

"Better!"

"How about now?"

"Now you're getting it!"

"And... how about now?"

 

I completely fell in love with her.

I was surprised at first. I was certainly not expecting "fanon Luna", of course, but I'm really not sure what I expected. However, I loved where they took Luna's personality, and I was so pleased that she was obviously still the product of a bygone age and having trouble adapting to modern pony society.

The eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn.

ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE is new meme.

 

I don't get all this "her appearance is because she's still part NMM" talk. Didn't Faust say outright it's because when she got owned by the EoH it weakened her, but now she's back up to her old strength, which is why she has the normal Alicorn look now? I know Faust isn't technically part of the show anymore, but IIRC she helped write season 2, even if she isn't actually working on the episodes themselves.

Signature now 99% less edgy!
