Ok, here goes.

-Pokemon Bank

Pokemon Bank is an online service that allows you to store Pokemon in the cloud. It has 100 boxes, more than what X and Y will offer. It will be availible as a download on eShop and there will be an annual fee.

-Poke Transporter

Poke Transporter is an addon to Bank that allows you to transfer Pokemon from Black, White, Black 2, and White 2. When these cards are inserted in the 3DS, you will be allowed to transfer the Pokemon within to Pokemon Bank, then from there to X and/or Y.

-Starter Choices.

At the begining of the game, you will get the choice of Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie from your friend. However, after you meet the Professor, you'll get the choice of Bulbasuar, Charmander, and Squirtle.

-Mega Evolutions

Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard, and Mega Blastoise were revealed. Mega evolutions can only occur when the Trainer holds a Mega Ring, a Black Bracelet, and the Pokemon is holding the Mega Stone. Further, you have to have a good bond with your Pokemon in order to trigger the evolution in battle. The Pokemon's appearnace changes, and it becomes stronger, but there are many more mysteries surrounding it.

-Special Edition 3DS'

Finally, the Special Edition blue and red 3DS XLs will be coming to North America and Europe on September 27th.

More info can be found on the official Pokemon Website over time.

About the Poke Bank/Transporter... Since the Transporter is connected to the bank, does that mean we now have to pay extra to be able to transfer Pokemon from past games? =/

On the starters, does that mean we actually get a choice between TWO starters pretty early on in the game? If so, I actually really like that.

The Poke Transporter sounds neat. I was wondering how they were going to transfer Pokemon between DS games without the need for another system. Though it probably won't be unlocked until you beat the game for obvious reasons.

My thoughts on the Mega Kanto starters:

MegaCharizard - So he becomes slightly more draconic, slims down a little and gets little arm wings. I guess it's okay...

MegaVenasaur - He gets a pink flower on his head and the bloom on his back gets kinda bigger. That's kind of lame actually.

MegaBlastoise - HOLY SHIT! POKEMON TANK!

The new Mega Evolutions for the Kanto Starters look okay overall. I'm just excoted about beginning a journey with a Charmander again :3

Also, Pokemon Bank sounds really cool. I have so many older games where I've played for hundreds of hours and caught so many Pokemon. I'll be transferring them all :D I'm perfectly happy with the annual fee too. I've heard reports of a free trial period, and $5 yearly thereafter.

Hey guys, have you seen the mega evolutions for the Kanto starters?

http://www.psypokes.com/

While Venusaur is good, and Charizard is acceptable, Blastoise is a real big mess. He's just horrible.

Also, the competitive side is thrown in limbo, AGAIN. I by far prefer battles on Firered/Leafgreen :/

I agree with the Blastoise. Completely terrible design.

I was on the fence about a lot of the Gen 5 designs, but a few really good ones and the revamped and carefully balanced meta kept me going.

These gen 6 designs suck. The only designs that immediately didn't make me cringe were the legendaries and Fennekin. I've never been one to hate on new gens (when Gen III came out, it immediately became my favorite) but these designs just seem lazy, rushed, and sometimes just re-hashes of old designs. While I understand that it's hard to come up with unique designs for over 700 individual 'mons, it's still not a herculean task. That's not even three orders of magnitude. Kinda disappointing.

Also the meta seems in great danger. Instead of adding new tactics and strategies, they're adding whole new levels of complexity, which is just plain unnecessary.

Not to mention the whole french theme was kinda lame from the get-go. Could have easily chosen a better and more substantial backdrop than stereotypes of french design.

I really like the Mega Blastoise design, I don't see why people are ripping on it  I thought the Venasaur one was stupid. All they did was put a flower on his head and little vines under his tree plant from what i can see. Charizard doesn't look that different, aside from the arm wings, different head shape, and slightly different wings... Actually his is pretty decent. But Blastoise actually looks different. Different head shape, a single shell cannon, arm cannons, he looks like a legitimate evolution to Blastoise.

And if you guys think about it, you can three starters from the get-go. A Kalos starter, a Kanto Starter, and the sepcial torchic. I'm getting Chespin, Squirtle, and the Torchic so I have all three starter types.

Aw, this is so mean. Now I have to figure out my team again. I really really REALLY love Charizard, but I (logically) should have Squirtle. On top, I think they get 2 starters in the start! OMG that means...2 TWO AMAZING PO- POKEMON!

Of the mega kanto starters, I think charizard is the most interesting. Drought as an ability and increased special attack is pretty cool (probably more useful than solar power charizard) but I think the double weakness to stealth rock will probably keep ninetales as a viable drought user. I'll probably still pick venusaur anyway, though; I just really like the bulbasaur line :) .

I think the designs for the three aren't too shabby (though Blastoise looked a little funky at first).

I'm wondering about that too. Call me cheap, but I don't want to have to pay to transfer my old pokemon especially since I've been able to do so for free for quite a while now.

Guys, relax. Don't be so afraid of change. As always, the metagame will adapt and evolve with all the changes that are introduced. We just have to see how everything plays out.

I know what you mean. I just think that the metagame is more than being changed with this update. It feels like it's being forced into a type of gameplay it may not have ever been made for to begin with.

But yes, no one can say for sure until even a while after the game has already been out, since stats and strats will have to be ironed out by the community.

I really can't wait for this game, that's pretty much it. There is two thing that confuses me, one from that Nintendo direct is the pokemon bank thing and since they added the new fairy type, how much different will the weakness match-up types be?

The bank is to go from Gen 5 to Gen 6 when transferring, so that way you only are using one device instead of the previous two. Why they didn't do this before really bugs me.

The fairy type will only affect dragon types (2x effective) and fire types (0.5x effective) as far as we know.

o . o new mega forms. there's still a notable lack of mega-chandy /=|

anyway, these new megas are interesting and all but what happened to showing off new pokemon? is the mega evolution such a big part of the story this time around that it overshadows the new pokemon?

Well, pokemon bank sounds cool, of course it being what seems the only way for transfers between games is kinda eh, but as long as it isn't ultra expensive I won't mind, heck I might use it, I've been slightly worried if I play and transfer to much I won't have enough box space, and well 100 boxes sounds sufficient xD. Especially added to ingame storage.

Double starters? Sounds interesting, Im not sure if I'll want two starters in one game, but I think I'll try it Atleast, never hurts to try something new :P.

The new starter mega evolutions look good overall, they are already complex designs, and thus it's hard to add on, but I'm sure game freak is aware people want it, so they tried, and I will say they all look pretty decent, nothing amazing, but I don't dislike any of them.

And the fact the trainer will need those items (forget their names, like mega bracelet or something) probaly means that online mega evolutions may not work, or else be restricted to another mode.

I'm happy for that, because I wanna have an opportunity to play with no mega Pokemon online, I like them, just I'd rather segregate them from normal Pokemon in competitive play.

And I think thats it right..?

Overall I'm still excited, a little change doesn't bother me much frankly.

On a random side note, I wonder if that train station on the map leads to kanto? Oooo speculation :P

I don't know about that one. It might be like the Kyurem White and Kyurem Black situation where you just need the item in your possession for one reason or another(in the Kyurem case, to switch the form) but could still use the pokemon online. I'd guess you just need to have the certain item in your possession to unlock the ability for it to happen, since it is story related.

If I had my way, I would allow them to be used in online play like normal. I'd leave the segregating to the players, having them file the pokemon into different tiers according to pokemon's effectiveness as usual. Gamefreak could put a rule that you can adjust if you want mega evolutions to be possible in the battle or not, though; I wouldn't mind that.

I guess I'm one of the few that's excited about the splash the mega evolutions and fairy type can make on the competitive scene.

I guess its possible, however mega evolutions happen inside battle purely and don't retain after, so idk.

Its possible though who knows.

And i have nothing against them being able to be used necessarily in normal battles, just i'd like a way to restrict them not to be used, so i don't have to use them in random online battles.

But i'm cool with them, so as long as some type of rule or something is able to be allowed to not let them be used, them i'm cool with them competitively.

And i have nothing against fairy type at all, besides well the fact i think I might like Light type slightly more ;p, but thats a very minor and negligible complaint.

So I did some more looking into it and it definitely looks like you have to literally "use" the bracelet (mega ring) to activate the evolution. A command appears in addition to the possible attacks for that pokemon; click it and boom, mega evolution. Looks online viable to me. Here's the link to the video where I saw it Possible Spoilers: link

And here's the generation 1 starters mega evolution trailer, since no one posted it (I think...)

I don't know about you guys but I hated the gen 5 metagame, gen 4 had it down, simple and nothing was really overly ridiculous. I really hated gen 5's competitive atmosphere because there was far much more luck involved, and I have awful luck. The new moves seem like they could really flip the competitive scene and that's what I think it needs, keldeo and scizor have been running rampage for far too long and the new mechanics look like they could balance out the annoyance in the game.

As far as the new mega evolutions I really dislike venasaur, a flower, vines and extra palm trees, too good. I think charizard looks decent, it looks more like a dragon now at least. I think blastoise got the best look though, the triple arm cannons make it look like its a evolution instead of a upgrade.

For anyone interested, the official press release is in the Spoiler below.

CHOOSE BULBASAUR, CHARMANDER OR SQUIRTLE AND BATTLE WITH THEIR MEGA-EVOLVED FORMS IN POKÉMON X AND Y

Two Limited Edition Pokémon-themed Nintendo 3DS XL Systems Launching on September 27

BELLEVUE, WA—September 4, 2013—In a surprising twist announced this morning during a special Nintendo Direct presentation, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y players do not receive Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie from Professor Sycamore but are in fact given the choice of a classic partner Pokémon—Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle—from the very first Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue! Adding to the excitement, once a player has evolved this Pokémon into Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise and obtained its unique Mega Stone, the Pokémon will be able to Mega Evolve while in battle. Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard, and Mega Blastoise will possess overwhelming powers never before seen in a Pokémon game. Players can choose fan favorite Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle when Pokémon X and Pokémon Y launch worldwide October 12, 2013, for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

More secrets about Mega Evolution were also revealed today. It was previously announced that certain Pokémon needed to hold a unique Mega Stone in order to Mega Evolve, but now it's known that there is a second requirement players must fulfill for Mega Evolution to occur. Trainers must also obtain a bracelet called the Mega Ring that holds a mysterious stone called a Key Stone. The Trainer's Key Stone resonates with the Mega Stone held by his or her Pokémon, and together they trigger the Evolution that is normally impossible—Mega Evolution.

Director from GAME FREAK inc., Mr. Junichi Masuda, also announced Pokémon Bank—a new Nintendo 3DS application and service that allows Pokémon X and Pokémon Y players to conveniently store up to 3,000 of their beloved Pokémon on the Internet. Pokémon Bank gives players the flexibility to store and deposit 100 Boxes worth of Pokémon. This is in addition to the Boxes found within Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, just like in previous Pokémon titles.

Additional features of Pokémon Bank include the ability to deposit and withdraw Pokémon from multiple copies of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Once a Pokémon X or Pokémon Y Game Card is inserted into a Nintendo 3DS system or the downloadable version of the game is opened, the Pokémon Bank software can be turned on for use. Players can then transfer Pokémon from multiple copies of the game via Pokémon Bank to one copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y

Pokémon Bank software is activated upon payment of an annual service fee. This charge will support maintenance of the online server that allows players to store up to 3,000 Pokémon conveniently, and will provide the application's support for future Pokémon titles.

Players who activate Pokémon Bank, will be able to use its linked application, Poké Transporter, which makes transferring many Pokémon caught in other Pokémon games easy. What used to be a lengthy process to transfer Pokémon from a previous Pokémon game to the latest titles is now a breeze with Poké Transporter—just insert Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 into your Nintendo 3DS system and use Poké Transporter to transfer Pokémon from those games into Pokémon Bank.

Pokémon Bank will be available in North America on Nintendo eShop. More details about this software, including a free trial period, will be added to Pokemon.com in the near future.

Also announced in this morning's Nintendo Direct presentation were details for the North American release of two special Nintendo 3DS XL hardware designs featuring imagery from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. These systems come in Red or Blue and feature brand new Legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal. The systems will launch on September 27 at a suggested retail price of $199.99 each.

Now for my opinions. I'm still sticking with Chespin, will prbably get Squirtle but won't end up using him for the main game. I'm still pretty meh about the whole Mega thing, but who knows, that might change as I play through the game.

I will definately be getting Bank, I have a lot of Pokemon I want to transfer from Black 2, and it would be useful for keeping the Pokemon I really like safe. You never know what will happen to the game cards or the 3DS itself!

EDIT: I should note that the Limited Edition 3DS' DO NOT come with X or Y. You will still have to buy them seperately.

Oh gosh, I just have to go with bulbasaur now. Bulbasaur was the very first starter I ever picked: nostalgia wave here I come. I'm still not very impressed with mega venusaur: the defense boosts and thick fat ability may allow him to be more of a bulky set up sweeper, like bulk-up Conkeldurr, but giga drains grass typing may limit it's usefulness. But who cares, it's nostalgia!

From Serebii:

"The episode of Pokemon Smash due to air on September 15th has been revealed to showcase Mega Evolutions, as shown by Junichi Masuda, in what they are calling an XY Institute Special. In addition to that, this episode will reveal more new information about the Pokemon XY anime that is due to begin on October 17th. We'll provide all the new information as and when it comes. This information is very likely to be revealed in CoroCoro prior to this episode at some point next week."

More info on the horizon, mega evolution info. They sure know how to keep people talking about their game, huh. I probably won't watch Pokemon Smash but I'll keep my eyes peeled for any info that might pop up in the coming days.

They're really pushing evolutions though, aren't they? They must have a pretty good amount of mega evolutions in store for us. I'm already pretty sold on the idea, but I can't say I wouldn't like to know more about the pokemon that can mega evolve.
