So I've recently trained a Blastoise and a Pinsir. Blastoise is pretty good, and its mega is pretty powerful even if it might not be the best one, I bred Aura Sphere onto it anyway which with Mega Launcher it basically gets STAB on. Pinsir though... its mega evolution is just absolutely fantastic, stupidly high attack plus an ability that allows it to turn Normal attacks into Flying, which in turn let's it OHKO Blaziken with Quick Attack? Yes please(if only it got Extremespeed though). :D

Gee, that's a pretty tall order... maybe you could try looking on GTS for a foreign Rogenrolla/Boldore, try to Masuda method breed it for a shiny, and then trade/trade back to evolve it with someone you trust? That'd probably be your best bet at it anyway, not many people are just gonna have a shiny Boldore lying around.

Yeah blastioise has a few choice moves that are awesome on its mega.

It kinda sucks only like a few moves get the boost though. Oh well.

And actually i never though of quick attack on mega pincer. That sounds pretty awesome actually.

Extreme speed would be crazy on it.

And i really need to make a legitment competitive team, i made my team of eeveelutions, which frankly still need items and movesets, but i've yet to get any other stuff.

So basically as far as competitive i've got lots of work to do.

I've been filling up my pokedex mostly, trying to finish the Kalos dex. I have 501 i think in my national dex(Thats seen) my Kalos dex i'm not sure on the exact number, somewhere in the 400''s i think. I'm getting close...

I wanna get that oval charm ;p, and also i need to get hatching power aswell eventually.

Oval Charm, Hatching Power... those could be useful, but I dunno, I find breeding quick enough with Flame Body. I could probably get Hatching Power if I wanted to anyway, I'm pretty sure I have max style in Lumiose but I think I might be missing an O-Power or 2.

Yeah, its already pretty fast, but still i just want them anyways.. ;p

And i have all the Opowers i know, i just need to finish the looker mission, and maybe get some style, not sure.

I think breeding would be pretty crazy fast with oval charm, hatching power, and flame body.. ASsuming they all stack ;p.

I may be getting this game for Christmas, it would be my first Pokemon game!

:)

It may be your first pokemon game. Once pokemon bank comes out on the 27th of december, you're gonna need some of the pokemon that are unobatainable in X/Y such as some legends, and 2nd-5th gen starter pokemon so which means you're gonna need pokemon D/P/Pl/HG/SS and Black/White 1&2.

Anypony know a good pokemon that resists ghost? I used to run a Weavile, or Bisharp at times, buts since I also run a Ferrothorn and Mega Mawile fire types become a problem.

Well, what kind of ghost are you talking? Because we have the Sweeper like Aegislash, Special Sweeper like Mega - Gengar and Chandelure or annoying like Trevanant, Mega - Bannette, Sableye and Dusknoir. (I'm talking about the most popular moveset for these ghost pokemon)

I have seen these are the most popular ghost in the game,  so you must to find the counter who can be useful in your team.

Aegislash: normal moveset, sword dance, king shield, iron head/sacred sword, shadow sneak, you need strong fire or ground (usually Aegislash has Balloon) move, Mega - Charizard Y has both and Drought, also Ninetails has good def and spdef and a great sp attack with Drought, Excadrill, Garchomp or its Mega. Thinking about inmmunity of shadow claw you can choose Pyroar (item focus sash) has a decent defense and a great spatk, it's a good counter for aegledash, Diggersby (focus sash) is useful too or Wigglytuff (item focus sash moves fire blast, thunder bolt, dazzling gleam and thunder bolt) wiggly has good moveset and it's bulky, but it's pretty delicate to iron head, but you have inmunity to ghost and resistence to fight moves of aegledash. Azumarill can help if you used before belly drum and it has bulldoze (I said you pokemon who are type fire or has resistance to it).

Mega - Gengar normal moveset Sludge Bomb, Thunder Bolt/Focus Blast, Shadow ball and Hypnosis/Destinity bond/Substitute  it's pretty easy to KO if you use a physicall and fast move, Aegislash is the perfect counter to Mega Gengar but it's weak against fire, Mega - Charizard Y, Mega Tyranitar, Excadrill, Gliscor, Talon Flame, Snorlax, Azumarill (if you used before belly drum you can use aqua jet) Battom Pass (to counter Shadow Tag)  and Psyshosk are pretty useful. Steel and Ground pokemon with huge attack are pretty good against Mega - Gengar.

Trevenant, this is the most annoying ghost pokemon ever, its ability Harvest and sitrus berry/Lum Berry can be kinda hard sometimes, normal moveset Will o Wisp, Leech Seed, Giga Drain/Shadow Claw/Curse, Substitute, the perfect counter it's a prankster like Klefki (has foul play) or Liepard (you use taunt, then a fast and effective counter attack), Tyranitar with Lum Berry, Talonflame, Breloom or Gliscor (Poison Heal is pretty useful and your op can't use Leech Seed on Breloom) Clefable (with Magic Guard) Audino (ab. regeneration) or Blissey (ab. Natural cure) (if it has Harvest with Sitrus Berry you can use toxic, both are bulkies and has good abilities)

Mega - Banette is Prankster, normal moveset is Destinity Bond, Taunt, Shadow Sneak/Shadow Claw/Will o Wisp, Knock off Against Bannette you need a KO or try to guess when it will use Destinity Bond, Great counter against it are Liepard and Klefki (Pranksters both), Talonflame, Audino, Blissey, Mega - Charizard Y, Breloom, Sylveon, Azumarril, Mega - Gardevoir sometimes

Chandelure (item balloon) normal moveset Shadow Ball, Energy Ball, Curse/Substitute,  Overheat/Flamethrower/Toxic, this pokemon has an awful def so you need supereffective physical attacks, Azumarril is the best counter, because can resist its energy ball and can KO with Aqua Jet, Gyarados or its Mega have an awful def and PS so you need a KO Aqua Jet before Chandelure use Energy Ball, Tyranitar or its Mega can resist Energy Ball, Liepard, Gliscor, Excadrill, Blissey. The problem with Chandelure is his ability Flame Body, because your pokemon may result burned

Sableye is Prankster and ghost/dark has good def but awful spdef, normal moveset Taunt, Will o Wisp/Confuse Ray, Recover, Shadow Claw any fairy is its counter, the best counter is Clefable thanks Magic Guard you just need Moonblast or Dazzling Gleam to KO, Wigglytuff, Mega - Gardevoir, Sylveon, Azumarril (You need 2 Play Rough to KO), Florges, Audino, Espeon sometimes

Dusknoir normal moveset Panic Split, Confuse Ray, Toxic/Taunt, Shadow Sneak/Rock Slide/Eartquake has great def and spdef, it's not pretty problematic but you need a huge move and a pokemon with big PS to fainted it Vaporeon, Sylveon, Audino, Blissey, Wigglituff, Mega Charizard Y, Ninetails, Azumarill, Excadrill is useful, Dragonite, Snorlax, Liepard is useful too, Aegislash but it's weak against Fire.

I think the must useful are Mega Charizard Y, Ninetails, Liepard, Klefki (weak to fire), Talonflame, Azumarill, Tyranitar and its Mega, Garchomp and its Mega, Aegislash (weak to fire), Gliscor, Breloom (except against  Aegislash and Mega - Gengar also it's weak to fire), Wigglytuff (except against Mega-Gengar), Blissey and Audino (except against Aegislash and Mega - Gengar), Pyroar, Diggersby, Excadrill (but it's weak to fire).

I'm not too worried about Gengar since gengarite got banned but I will give T-tar a try. I also try to make some adjustments on my team to take on the others. Thanks

Gengarite got banned? I might be guessing that's more of a smogon's work to me. I dunno why it was banned banned though. A Proof on how gengarite got banned should convince me even though I like to know why.

Gengarite and Blaziken was, I read it was because are OP

Honestly I see pretty OP to Mega - Kangaskhan, and it's still there lol

Well They said that Speed Boost Blaziken & Mega Blaziken was banned, but they didn't blaze blaziken was banned so Apparently Blaze Blaziken can be used as an exception, but the blazikenite can't be used. I still Don't get why Gengarite was banned, but yeah, It's more of smogon's work I believe. I think I need more or further proof on how Gengarite was banned for a reason other than a simple explanation that mega gengar is OP'd.

Mega Gngar was pretty hard to destroy to me but only because I have a Fairly team. If you see the stats of Mega Gengar maybe you can imagine an idea the reson to be banned. Actually I don't have peolem with it.

Regarding  to Blaziken, I read was banned also Blaze-Blazinken, you can check out here or googling http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/696959-pokemon-x/67808753

Well Any Particular Idea what Moves this mega gengar have or what you saw so far? Perhaps a Battle video would be nice if it's ok enough for me.

As for Blaziken, That was smogon's work as well. I read about it from other people, but the mistake that they made is that they didn't specifically say that speed boost blaziken and mega blaziken was banned. If they did ban speed boost blaziken and mega blaziken, then Blaze Blaziken would've been used, but Blazikenite would've been banned so the other hold item choices for blaze blaziken are exceptional except blazikenite. 1 person agreed with me and said that blaze blaziken's speed can't keep up with infernape's speed.

I don't know so much about Gengarite's banned, but it was 1 month ago, I guess, I don't use Gengar so I don't investigated thoroughly. I just read it sometimes, Smogon think about it and said that.

I actually thought Blaziken was banned, so anyone used it because that reason? lol Well, I don't see Blaziken since so long time.

So gangarite is banned in online? Or just on smogon? Because there is a difference.

I wouldn't be surprised if its banned though, The fact that it has quite amazing Special attack, aswell as some pretty good speed, combined with shadow tag making it so anything that goes against it is forced to stay, makes it quite the force to be reckoned with.

Blazikenite is actually not that bad, as Life orb blaziken is actually stronger attack wise, but mega blaziken is better as far as defenses go, so idk maybe it is good especially if it can survive stuff like EQ.

The fact blaziken with speed boost is already banned anyways makes it no surprise mega blaziken is banned though.

Another i think should be banned is Mega khangasgan, because honestly that thing is ridiculous, double attacks on everything, meaning damage potential is insane, not to mention stuff like power up punch being like a damaging swords dance.

And it only has 1 weakness.

So yeah, but other than those all the other megas can be dealt with, those three can be pretty ridiculous though. Atleast in my eyes.

But they're not banned online are they? Just on smogon. So i guess it doesn't make much of a difference.

it's ridiculous and insane, totally, when you find one Mega - Kangaskhan if you don't have a ghost it use Power up Punch, but anyways,  it also have crunch or sucker punch lol, always its evs are on def or spdef, so it's pretty hard to fainted.

Gengarite must banned on both, I guess., I just see Mega - Gengar in ubers battles.

To be fair, the ban was more about mega gengar's potential uses rather than its raw strength. If it was about that, mega mawile would be the first to go. (210 base power + sucker punch and a great type coverage. Easily my favourite mega.)

Some pokemon like terrakion and genesect almost need a dedicated pokemon to switch in to save your team. Mega gengar can pretty much trap and neutralize any counter very efficiently with its massive movepool and decent bulk. After the counter is removed almost guaranteed, those stronger pokemon can return and ravage the rest of the team, left with nothing adequate to defend itself. That's pretty scary if you ask me.

Gengarite is just banned on smogon. M-Gar was mostly banned because of perish trapping. Come in on a wall or sleeping poke (which it can do itself with hypnosis) set up a perish song then protect and substitute until the last turn and switch out and boom the opponents poke is gone and you still have a M-Gar to perish song with. Priority moves would wreck gengar but since the opponent can choose what to trap knocking out gengar became even harder.

Well you are talking about ubers, honestly I don't see so much problem there lol

Genesect has bad sp def, any flamethrower is suppereffective, also Terrakion you can fainted pretty easy with Azumarril I think is its best counter, talking about ubers Sky Shaymin, Shaymin, Mewtwo X or Y, Kyogre, etc are pretty useful. Also you know, one Xerneas can destroy it in one second lol

Yeah, its a bit ridiculous, not impossible to kill, but its got pretty crazy potential.

And i'd be surprised if nintendo themselves somehow banned gengarite on ingame online play. I don't think they've ever done that, besides maybe with ubers.

On smogon though its different.

Yeah, while some people may have counters, the fact they can be so small in numbers, or simply just be so versitile that its incredibly hard to counter at all can be a reason for it to get banned.

Oh yeah thats true, it would make quite the nasty perish song user. Never thought of that.

And thank you for clearing it up.

There might be some strategies that can nullify perish song and bypassing the Mega Gengar's shadow tag. Usually Taunt and Gastro Acid works for nullifying them, but If you use the sacrificial strategy, you may be able to take out the pokemon that uses perish song however this strategy can only work on double and triple battles.

I'm still not yet convinced on how mega gengar is still banned. I just need proof so I can spread the word about it.

@Fabien - According to your post on your "fairly team", any idea what team you used? if you don't want to tell, then we understand in keeping your team a secret.
