What do you think happened to Chrysalis?

After the blast from Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor, Chrysalis and her Changelings flew into the distance. Currently, there are many theories on what happened next.

1. She died. The fall killed her and she won't be back.

2. She survived (like team rocket). This is where the comic series starts. The only problem is the comics aren't really canon to the story (they are B canon to the A canon of the show).

2 1/2. She survived, but the comic events didn't happen. She will come back in the show and this will override the comic story of her. (maybe she'll crash the Equestria Games for revenge on Cadence and Shining Armor?)

3. Chrysalis was actually Luna in disguise. (A popular fan conspiracy theory). She was actually Luna to get revenge for those long 1000 years on the moon. I don't believe this personally, but its anyone's guess.

4. Like Cell from DBZ, she was not completely destroyed and has another even stronger form. She will gain more power, then attack Canterlot again!

So those are the main theories. Let me know what you think!

Don't you read the comics? She went on to execute her second devious plot, where the Mane Six had to track her and her lair down in order to rescue the Cutie Mark Crusaders :3 Duh.

Canon-wise, probably the equivalent of Team Rocket. Blasted off, power source gone, army spread far and wide. She probably took a while in gathering her forces again, and perhaps hasn't found a way back again because of Canterlot's increased security awareness since then to look out for strange behavior.

Seriously though, I'd just plug in the comics for holes in the show. They're just as awesome, and very believable. They even go out of their way to plug in things never explained or shown before in the show, so.

Umm, yeah I do. But recently I've been debating how realistic it all is. Personally, I don't consider Chrysalis "bad" or "evil". I personally think that (in a nutshell) she is caring and nice, but only for her changelings. Yes, the full-scale Halo type invasion was too much, as well as trapping Twilight and Cadence, but Celestia and others have done "bad" things too. Ex- Celestia turning ponies into stone.

So while the comics are very nice too read, I don't consider them relevant to the rest of the story. Like in the second story arc how the "Nightmare forces" made Luna become NMM, it was said 20 seconds in to the show that it was her "anger and bitterness" that drove her to become Nightmare Moon.

I don't have a problem with the comics, because they are extremely nice. I just don't really put them in the show like the episodes.

She ded.

Probably the writers won't bring her back though because they want to keep the villains fresh and not keep recycling old ones (Discord was brought back because they were able to snag an iconic voice actor for him)

Chrysalis tried up wipe out a whole race of ponies, just to feed her kind. I'm pretty sure if genocide is your answer to feed your kind, then you are 100% evil.

Also who else did Celestia turn into stone? The only one turned to stone was Discord and that was because he was making everyone else miserable. Clesita is not evil and has not turned anyone else into stone.

As for the question I'm going with the comics on this one. It seems like something you would do after losing and it works.

I'm not so sure. She might come back because their is so much more with her. She didn't really "teach a lesson" like Gilda, Trixie, or Discord did. She was just a Queen who needed some food for her people. They could also go with the 'Reformed' storyline and try to use her powers for good. (Maybe she could make out a work in exchange for love deal?). But something tells me we might be seeing her again, maybe even with Sombra?

Discord is the only one one we've known turned to stone. Take 'I don't turn ponies into stone' whichever way you'd like, but I think assuming Celestia has done it to others is trying to see evil where there isn't. IMO, Discord used 'ponies' as an ambiguous term referring to creatures in general, just as how we would say the sentence as, 'I don't turn other people to stone'. But, as he was being a smart-ass, he was just referring to himself, and using sarcasm. It's my opinion that you're trying to see good in Chrysalis where there isn't any at all, as well :3 As I explained in another post, she's a die-hard classic villain.

Chrysalis was a manipulative bitch and enjoyed every last second of what she was doing. That's cruel, pure and simple tongue.png Unless she somehow has some complicated and good reason for doing what she did other than 'I gotz feed my species, and that required me to cause as much misery and suffering as possible while I accomplished that', then I don't see how she has any sort of platform to stand on for being anything but pure evil.

She might have a warped parental love for her children, but that doesn't make her not evil. All beings are passionate about something, even the evil ones :3 A character without something they don't love would be a bland character that would have no alignment, and sit there, not doing anything, ever. Villains are either selfish and love themselves or their own desires for power, or whatever. In this case, Chrysalis wants to rule everything and have her and her babies sit at the top of food chain. Of course she'd loved them wink.png

Ha. I knew this would come up! Celestia did turn ponies to stone for unknown reasons. Discord himself said "Because I don't turn ponies into stone". It should be noted that Discord is a Dreyconiquos and NOT a pony. So their's my proof.

I don't think so, they generally save major villains for season premieres or season finales, I don't see them burning another major story arc on her.  Appearing with Sombra would make even less sense, as there is no real connection between the two, and they clearly had no intention of developing Sombra as anything other than a caricature.  Also, don't have sauce on this but I'm pretty sure someone involved in the show said Sombra isn't coming back

I think even though in the show she flew out with her Changeling army spread out like Team Rocket, blasting off again. But in the comics, we definitely see her alive & well where she kidnaps the Cutie Mark Crusaders like what ~CD~ said.

So, I guess that answers it.

I'd go with the comics moreso, as it fits how things usually end up in the world of Equestria.

it was said 20 seconds in to the show that it was her "anger and bitterness" that drove her to become Nightmare Moon.

Given the lack of background its hard to say 100%

I mean, it COULD be said that Rarity's insecurities and fear of being replaced by her friends is what drove her to it if you break it down to the basics.

In the comic it was made clear Luna was keeping things secret in regard to what happened when she turned, and history (especially when its 1000 years old) likes to get "simplified"

Chances are no one knew the full story, so it was just broken down to what made it possible for the nightmare forces to turn her so easily.

Chrysalis is the perfect villain for Equestria. She jeopardizes friendship and love through deception and selfishness. I not only expect her to be back, but expect her to be enemy #1. Her character - and the Changeling property of being able to take the form of other ponies - allows for too much opportunity to just toss away after two episodes.

I think she returns in the guise of a pony who becomes trusted until she reveals herself again. She could surprise Twilight as Starswirl the Bearded, for instance, and make her question the motives of Celestia by telling her some "unofficial history" or something.

That's not proof.

What Discord was most likely saying was, he may torment ponies and make their live miserable, but he would not go as fare as to turn them into stone for a thousand years. So he was not talking about himself as a pony, but say he would not go with the turning to stone.

I think she died. There's really no real information. If you read the comics it gives you suggestions but, not a real answer. The writers won't bring Chrysalis back because, they don't won't people to think that they are lameo's. Maybe she has a sister and she will make a stand to revenge her sister.

I personally take the comics as semi-canon. If there's a conflict in continuity, then I'll take the show over the comic. Until we see Chrysalis appear in the show and if her re-appearance DOESN'T conflict with what we've seen in the comics, we can still take the comic story as canon.

Any of the most heinous villains in history can be said to be "caring and nice, but only for X".  That doesn't make them any less evil.

And you're reading way too much into Discord's comment there.  He's just saying that while he may torment ponies, he wouldn't go as far as turning them into stone.  What he's saying is "I don't go as far on my targets/enemies as you do."

There's no way she was Luna. Luna was redeemed, and I couldn't see her becoming evil again. My guess is number 2.5, and she's just taking a break.

Any theory is as credible as the other. My headcanon is that she used magic to safely descend such as slowly levitating herself down, teleporting when she was close enough to the ground, or using the spell the changelings used when attacking Canterlot which shot themselves down like meteors (they seemed fine afterwards). It would seem lame if she just went splat or survived team rocket style.

She died by falling damage, taking three points of damage to her hp and passing away in the act.

Doesn't sound so epic, eh?

Of course she didn't die. That was the mandatory crappy ending for her, due the chapter's time limitations. I would like to think she landed on something, or just simply glided to the ground, you know, with those wings she has.

I would like her to come back. Besides, the enemies involved with those kind of "endings" usually have tendency to comeback.

Apologies for my english.

She would decide to capture the Mane6 so that the elements of harmony won't work, and then she would threaten to kill them painfully, and then she would demand that all ponies are exiled out of Equestria trough the Everfree forest as a ransom, and then she still kills them and kills all ponies, thus being a successful antagonist.

More than likely she's still alive. She must be severely injured though and needs to tend to her other changelings who are in the same boat as she is.

Ignoring the events of the comics because they are a different type of canon. I'm confident enough to think we will see more out of the Changeling's in season four. No need to bring them c in exclusively for one episode right?

Also I'm not sure If I heard right but I remember seeing a Q&A panel about season four and someone asked a question about changelings appearing in season four. The response was "Everypony is a changeling" so this may or may not inspire confidence that changelings will be returning.
