I really do like your work, and style, it has something I don't see often, and it's just different but I love it!

I wish I could draw like so, it'd be amazing, and your art is just so gorgeous, no I'm not sugar coating this, it just looks beautiful,

Please keep up the good work, no matter what, it's just something that should be shared around. <3

My apologizes to everyone who I failed to reply to on this thread, as I can assure you that I truly appreciate everyone's comments and support on here, which I cannot thank you all enough for.  If anyone thinks of this as being negligent on my part, I would completely understand.  For me, I simply do not feel right posting on here unless I have brought a new sketch or some show of artistic effort on my part.  I am sure this is a silly way of thinking, but it is something I will have to shake off, as it is not right to leave other's comments unattended as I have.

But, I have a question: Do you think if i sent you a picture of my two newest OCs, could you draw them for me please?

I've only just started getting what they look like and stuff, so i haven't actually done much with them, but i would love to see a drawing of them by someone who has talent like yours :D

So if you can, you could message me or whatever you feel like doing :P

I should be offering an apology to you for my delayed response here, and I wish to thank you for such kind words.  As far as drawing your OCs, I would be more than happy to if you are still interested.  Just let me know!

Thank you most sincerely Sapphire, as I truly do appreciate your compliments though I feel I am not fully deserving of them.  I still have a long way to go before I am personally satisfied, but so long as others are finding some sort of joy out of my work, then what more can I ask for?  Thank you again!

I OFFICIALLY LOVE YOUR ART!!! Your expressions are amazing!

Thank you very much Yaya!  Though I still feel expressions are one of my weakest areas, I am still try to improve upon that

Now, onto some new stuff.  Though not much to offer right now, I am trying to work on a few personal projects that I hope I will be able to share soon!  In the meantime, here are a few practice sketches that I would love to hear everyone's opinions on.  And thank you all again!

First, another speed practice attempt, with @Dilarus. @Keponii and @Chigens and Kay as the subjects for this one (the fourth one in the top left corner was simply a random pony; nothing noteworthy.  I do not own any of these OCs and if their respective creators wish for me to remove this image, I will gladly do so).

 post-3181-0-67370000-1396587602_thumb.png

Second, simple expression practice, with Luna being the subject for this little test.  Again, nothing noteworthy but necessary if I am going to strengthen my weak areas in drawing emotions as well as drawing figures and features with some sort of consistency.

post-3181-0-02203600-1396587612_thumb.png

And, finally, another expression/ consistency practice sheet where I was apparently too lazy to draw a dedicated pony.  So, they remained bald (poor things...).

Always good to see more of your stuff.

really not much to say besides (bottom left Luna looks a bit adrogynous, but that could just be me being used to more stylized ponies).

Would love to see a finalized take on Luna's mane.

That's some wonderful talent you have there! I love the fluffle puff and chrysalis one. Your ability to convey emotion is really awesome!

Anyway, thank you very much!

Thank you Silverwisp, as I always truly appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

I still have a lot to work on, but I am glad to see that nothing looks exceptionally awful this time around.  Quite thankful, really.

And considering Luna is one of my favorite characters, I am sure you will see something a bit more finalized sometime in the future.

Awh! Fluffle Puff is so perf! ^^ You should continue drawing. You're good!

Thank you!  I can assure you that I have no intentions of stopping my little drawing habit.

THOSE ARE SO AMAZING!!! :D You are truly a master!!

Master?  No, but I do appreciate the vote of confidence so thank you most sincerely!  Still have a long was to go, but it shall be a fun journey regardless.

Thank you most sincerely!  Fluffle Puff and Chrysalis seem to be quite the favorites and I am glad that you like it.  And as I have said before, I still have a lot to learn and even more to practice, but that is half the fun.

Now, for something new.  This is a WIP (in other words, this will never see completion and nothing really noteworthy overall) so feel free to share your thought, opinions and/or constructive criticism.  And thank you all for your kind words!

Seriously though, it looks awesome. That's some impressive foreshortening going on there.

As for criticism:

-the tower looks a bit floppy

-Twi's posterior looks just a smidgen too wide

Is this based on something specific (fic, scene in the show...)?

@@SkyBound, you're quickly becoming one of my favorite ponies on here, haha.  Awesome person, moderator, and artist from what I've seen.

Anyways, I love how well proportioned your drawings are, and how they have a pretty solid dimensional feel to them. The gestures come off beautifully too. For related reasons, your characters definitely have a certain life to them that comes with an upper level of ability.  :) I'm sure you still have a large ways to go over time, sure, but where you're at already is impressive and really solid foundation-wise as is.

Also, your expressions on your most recent update make me a bit jealous.  :derp:  But in a way that makes me want to practice more myself.

Anyways, I'm glad to see you're still updating this with new stuff now and then! Keep up the awesome work!  :muffins:

I will agree that the tower is a little lopsided and this is a prime example as to why you use proper guidelines.  I also figured out as to why Twilight's posterior looked wrong and I have fixed it since then (turns out I did not account for the tilt in the hips and thus it looked incorrect).  If nothing else, I can take immense satisfaction that I am always learning from each drawing I post.

And no, this was not inspired by anything in particular or, at least, not to my knowledge.  I considered this merely practice for a couple projects that I am hoping to start on.

As always, thank you most sincerely Silverwisp!

I love your style! You should open a request shop, but make a list though, so you won't get bombarded with requests. ;)

Thank you kindly!  I actually did have a request shop some time ago, but due to a few issues, I have to suspend it indefinitely.  Perhaps I will have to reopen it at some point.

Wow, thank you so much SFyr!  Though I feel I do not fully deserve of such kind words and praise, I sincerely do appreciate them and wish I could think of more to say to show my gratitude than a simply 'thank you.'  The two thing that I have been practicing more of are gesture drawings to help with the flow of not only characters but compositions as well, and expressions/emotions.  I am just glad to see that those efforts are showing forth through my drawings.

The one thing I do love about drawing is that there is always something new to learn, whether you are just beginning or a professional.  Though I do indeed have a long way to go toward accomplishing my goals, I can at least take some solace that there are those who do enjoy my work and for joining my on this little artistic journey; certainly makes the trip a lot more fun and meaningful and wish I could offer everyone more than just a thank you and a brohoof on here, for every comment does mean a lot to me.

Unfortunately, I do not have a lot to show this time around, so have a simple Rarity sketch while you wait for something a bit more...substantial.  Enjoy and, as always, feel free to let me know what you think!

@@SkyBound, even you're simpler sketches are lovely at this point, haha, trust me.  Great work on her; she came out looking quite pretty and elegant as per her character.  :)

Also, I wish you the best with practicing those two topics; I'm sure you're art will benefit for the practice, as they really do seem like very integral things to know how to use.

And that sounds like a great approach to it all. I'll also jump on the bandwagon of loving art as a near-limitless pursuit. I'm not quite to your level, but I still really enjoy the fact that even if I devoted years and years of my life to learning to do better, I would still have a long ways to go regardless. I could pursue it with more passion than I do, but the lack of an end is still something I am extremely fond of.

--And yeah, I'm sure you'll be able to find people happy to look over and enjoy your work as you go about your own path with it all.  :)

And a couple more sketches for everyone's amusement!  Nothing fancy here though, as it is just a few drawings of the CMC as we know them now and what I feel they would look like if they were the same age as the Mane 6.  And I threw Spike in there just for the fun of it, since I had not drawn him before now nor have I tried to draw a dragon in ages.  A few were hits, most were misses, but I will let you decide on which ones are which.  Enjoy!

Wow! I absolutely love how you've drawn Spike! And as always the facial expressions are gorgeous. Absolutely lovely. <3

I swear, you are urging me to buy you a drawing tablet so you can make digital works of art. I would love to see you try your hand at that. :D

Hazzah for actually replying in a decent amount of time!

I have to say, you're take on Spike is actually really awesome.  Seriously. In your style he looks, well, really great.

Anyways, awesome stuff as usual.  :yay:

Thanks a lot SFyr!  I was actually really satisfied with my second attempt in drawing Spike, as it turned out a lot better than I would have expected (escepically compared to the first version).  I may have to draw more of him.

Thank you most sincerely Bronyette!  Truth be told, I actually do own a drawing tablet (an Intuos 4 Medium actually), but my computer is so lagging  and unresponsive when I try to use any sort of drawing programs that it makes it nearly impossible to use.

Unfortunately, I do not have a lot to show this time around, so have a simple Rarity sketch while you wait for something a bit more...substantial.

Long Rarity is looong ^_^ .

Seriously though, love this, especially the mane.

-The curve of the neck seems a bit extreme

-the hooves look a bit simplistic compared to the rest of the piece

-the shading on the right legs seems a bit dark, especially with mane being pretty light

a few drawings of the CMC

Awww, young Applebloom is sooo cute.

-something appears to be going on with grown up Sweetie's eyes

-young Scoots' neck seems a bit thick

And I threw Spike in there just for the fun of it

I don't really like the left versiion; the snout makes him look thuggish to me.

That being said, oh sweet Celestia I lovlovelove the right one istheregonnabeaSparitypiece?

Er... I mean, very nice. Have you tried extended the crest so the foremost spikes point forwards?

Wow, I did not realize that it has been so long since I last posted something here.  Certainly feels like ages, but still...need to post more!

Anyway, not much to show this time around, just a few bust sketches of the Apple Family (and Pinkie, of course).  Still much to be desired, but I think they turned out decently enough though despite how messy it looks.

As always, feel free to share your thoughts and advice.  I know these are not perfect, so don't be shy!

It hasn't yet ceased to be interesting, seeing characters through your art style.

I also like the character captured in the renderings of each, well, character. Though, I love some of the added charm, for example, AJ has more of a beauty look to her rather than tomboyish, and Mac has some masculine charm on top of still seeming like a quiet/good pony. Babs is just awesome; devious, but endearing in a way. Granny Smith lost some extremes of her aged appearance, but definitely looks like an old/wise/gentle soul--It's quiet pretty to see.

*coughnotsurewhattomakeofthetoprightponycough* ...Kinda thought it was Sweetie Bell at first, but I guess that's because her hair comes off more as very curly, than Pinkie's extreme messy-poof, haha. Still looks awesome though, and it's pretty cool you included her in the apple family~♪

Applebloom on the bottom right, while still adorable and captures an innocent and youthful personality... I feel drawing-wise her head is a little skewed? Like, her ears and bow are a bit twisted, so that it's turned more at the top than the sliiight turn at the bottom (eyes and muzzle).

--The only other potential flaw I could see is that maaaybe Babs' muzzle/face is a little smaller proportionally to her head when compared to the other characters. The faces in your ponies seem to almost take up the entire head size wise--it works well of course--but Babs has more like, relatively blank space around her face, and her eyes/cheeks seem a little more pushed toward the muzzle.

Anyways, end of random thoughts.

Really awesome work on these, Skybound.  :)

Oh my stars x3 youre definitely on my list of people to watch and study from x33. Loooove those expressions!

SW is right on some points though, but sketches are bow we learn, these arent meant to be spot on.

sweetie belles eyes seem focused on the tip of her nose rather than the mic, scoots neck does seem thick, but I think its more her shoulders and ribcage are smallish looking. I think rarity's feet are fine if you colour them with more detailing. You already have more pronounced bone structure than the show, so some fetlock marks, or hoof shading would sell it.

As always, feel free to share your thoughts and advice.

Have I ever told you that I adore the way you draw Pinkie's mane?

Also loving AJ, Mac and Babs (that expression is sooo good :o ).

-Granny Smith's neck seems a bit too thick to me, a bit at oddds with the face in terms of age

-Appleblloom looks a bit off, mainly due to some unfortunate tangents (bow/ears, mane/forehead), I think the upper part oif the mane being a bit bigger would help a whole bunch.

-Lastly (and in this case) leastly, Mac looks a bit canine to me.

So, it was suggested to me that I should throw all of my sketches and such into a single thread rather than creating several for each piece.  This certainly makes sense and I am not quite sure why I did not do this from the beginning.

Anyway, this is where I will be placing all of my 'artwork' for all to see and criticize (which I strongly encourage; go nuts).  To be honest, most of what I will be posting here will probably be nothing more than unfinished sketches and other such garbage, though I do hope this will not be the case all the time.  Either way, if anyone has any thoughts or ways something can be improved, please do not hesitate to say so!

Random sketches

More random sketches!

Head angle and expressions practice (oh, the horror)

Some random pony (Yay color!)

And lastly for now, Flufflepuff and Chrysalis (though this was already posted)

As I said before, it anyone has any critiques or advice, I will greatly appreciate it.  Thank you!

Last on for tonight (wow, I am actually productive today).  These last ones are still quite rough and need a lot of work, with expressions and refinement on the facial structure on top of the list.  But, I feel as though I am making strides forward, even if they are baby steps.

I also need to stop drawing them bald.

awesome art keep up the good work!
