I'm assuming you're talking about that Smile HD video. I hate that video. I hate it. Anyone who likes it is just...sick. You have to be really messed up to enjoy seeing the ponies brutally murdered, seriously. When I saw what happened to Dashie... ;_;

If it's not the video that irritates me, it's fans that play it up when you dislike it as if you're in high school. "What you don't like violence? What age are you? Are you a faggot?" and it really burns me up. This is the same "2edgy4u" attitude that emo and goth kids try to pass off as being cool in school and I thought growing up past that I'd see less of that but it seems there are actually people out there that are keen on immediately having a kneejerk response to saying you're 'weak' or whatever else if you merely dislike the video or its portrayal.

I'm not even the kind of guy to go about "I dislike it because of the fans" but on top of the video being awful, yeah I dislike it thanks to its blind fanbase.

I clicked on it, not knowing what to expect.. I saw Pinkie Pie running happily towards her friends.

I then noticed the "HD" in the title, similar to that of "Cupcakes HD".. I then looked below the video and noticed the name of the video's creator.. Then before I knew it, Twilight's head was flying across the screen.

But still, I liked the Cupcakes HD, because I have a weird sense of humour, however this one didn't seem as joyously evil.. That is until I saw Fluttershy going all out on Pinkie Pie.

It was quite strange seeing my two favourite Ponies beating each other senseless, but at the same time, strangely hilarious.

I think I need help.

I'm sorry but, your profile picture is awesome!

My new favorite pony is Fluttershy since I watched that video... :yay:

I can watch something like this and not gain anything from it: what's the point of it?

At the very least, to entertain the viewers I imagine. And probably to troll the other viewers as well.

What's the message?

I'd say something along the lines of "many emotions can be hidden behind a smile". That's the feeling I get when I take the elements of the video into consideration (the big smile on pinkie's face, the smile song, and just when she thinks it's all over the smile begins to fade).

Why do people put effort into animating crap like this?

To express an idea or emotion, I guess. I'm not too sure. Why do animators animate anything? Or better yet, why do people create any kind of art at all?

Even the grimdark fanart I can at least respect when it's done all spooky-like or whatever: I just know it's not made for me but it has passion behind it.

Either this animation took a lot of effort or Mister Davey has god-like animating skill beyond my comprehension.

But because it's gore and violence, it gets shared on my Facebook, I see it on my Tumblr, and I've had to unfollow people or get into arguments with the friends that shared them to 'stop showing me this crap already'. The idea of ANY of the mane 6 getting brutally murdered makes me physically ill.

And this, to me, seems to be the main problem you have with the video. I don't think you really cared whether it had meaning, purpose, passion, etc. at all, you didn't even finish the video (I hope you don't go around advocating "watch it before you hate on it" like many bronies like to do for MLP). It took the ponies and brutally murdered them and that's enough for you to dislike it. Fair enough.

I agree, it sounds a lot more honest if someone simply says "i don't like senseless violence, so i don't like this",
rather than trying to de-credit the piece as an art form or attack it just for existing.

Anyone who likes it is just...sick.

I should probably stay away from videos that have 'HD' in the title from now on...  (I'm going to take a wild guess and say that it doesn't stand for 'High Definition' in this case?)  I was warned about Cupcakes HD ahead of time, so I never saw that, but I had no idea what was coming when I watched this.  I thought that it would be cute and adorable, and it was... right up until Pinkie punched Twilight's head off.  I admit, I stopped watching after that...

The animation looked really nice though from what I saw.  This genre just isn't really my cup of tea.

You know, there's some videos like this that are kinda funny, but the difference that made me dislike this one is how the gore of it wasn't tasteful at all. I saw that it was by the guy that had made the Cupcakes video, so I assumed violence, but what it ended up being was just completely senseless. He's the Michael Bay of gore, and it makes me sad that he's probably proud of that fact. I watched the whole thing (why, I don't know, because it wasn't entertaining in the slightest) and by the end really wasn't impressed and a bit disgusted at the idea that this is something people will actively watch and enjoy. He has the capacity to create excellent animation, and it's a bit upsetting that he spends it making such things as these. :c

I somewhat liked it

Here me out

Yes, it was gorey, bloody, and everypony died, but, it was a very good animation

The only thing that got me mad was Rarity and AppleJack didn't even try to defend themselves

About Fluttershy..

I dont know

But

I basically only enjoyed the animation

The whole plot was... I cant even explain it

But then again... I smiled when Fluttershy beat up Pinkie

Gawd, I dont even know anymore

IMPORTANT PRE-COMMENT DISCLAIMER: If you are one of the people who unironically enjoyed the video in question, I don't think any less of you for it. I don't know you personally and am in no position to judge. HOWEVER...

@@Champion RD92,  and @@MrHaru,  are not being nearly direct or concise enough, so I will.

Buck EVERYTHING about "Smile HD". Every single solitary thing. And all of the numerous redundant splatter-fests that will get uploaded by Youtube shock jocks because this one generated a ton of views? Buck those, too. That's it.

There is something genuinely twisted about this, right to its core. Might as well put these characters in a Saw parody while we're at it, right? In fact, that'd be a MORE worthwhile exercise than this was, because even after those movies turned into redundant splatter-fests, they were still twisted morality plays with an actual story. (Convoluted and little more than an excuse to tie the gore scenes together, sure, but it was THERE, and you could appreciate it for that if you really wanted to.)

This has NOTHING going for it. Other videos have done "unexpected violence for the lulz" much more effectively, and managed to do so without desecrating something as good as FiM. Even the remix of the song really isn't anything special.

I hope in vain, but please let there be a day when... stuff... like this doesn't happen anymore.

I enjoyed this video, I have to admit, it was maybe a little too violent for this show but I actually enjoyed it for multiple reasons, however the main reason is probably the huge DBZ reference.

I can't help myself but think of the ponies as actual DBZ characters in this one. For example Pinkie Pie being Boo, Fluttershy being Gohan and maybe Rarity being Krilin? (You know for getting owned instantly+for that gravestone "Here lies Rarity, she just died.") I cheered for Fluttershy, too bad she lost in the end because cheap Pinkie used the textbox > :(

Overall this video was quite fun to watch, music was excellent, overall really nice. I knew what kind of videos MisterDavie makes, so I did expect something like that to happen.

Is it bad to say that I kind of actually enjoyed it? it was just the over the top fighting that got me, and the beginning where, you knew something bad was going to happen, but you didn't expect something that bad.

I apologize: I see where you are coming from....but I don't see how you can even in the least offer a devil's advocate view on this. There's no hidden message here, there's no point to this other than what's presented. I refuse to believe that there's a point to this video (like the others from this same user) other than what's shown. It's meaningless, vile, and disgusting.

And actually no, I've been telling my friends not to watch it at all and after I tell them what it is, they just shake their head and go "Yeah that's screwed up."

I liked the video I thought the animation was solid. Nothing spectacular, but it was definitely well done. There is no doubt in my mind about that. The song is by Foozogz and I have really liked his/her's work and once again I really enjoyed the song. I think it was a good remix of 'Smile Song'. The content of the video to me is pretty funny. I know that this is a parody and not even close to cannon and don't take it to heart when the ponies die (even though I hold them dear to my heart).

When I first watched It I said to myself "Hmm MisterDavie, that name sounds familiar." As soon as the gore began I just couldn't help but laugh because the reactions were priceless. I still have no idea why Applejack was so happy to see Rarity's head smashed in? How does Pinkie's head not come flying off when Rainbow Dash kicks her in the head with a Sonic Rainboom?

I understand that this kind of content is not for everyone, and this is either something you like or you don't. There really is no middle ground to stand on here. Everyone is allowed their own opinion, just don't take it to heart if someone has a different one than yours.

Lastly I must say that even though this isn't cannon, Fluttershy gained a lot more respect in my book for kicking Pinkie's a**. She was last in my favorites, but now shes in the Top 3.

Well it's easy to do if you actually believe in the view, like I do. I didn't just come up with these ideas from thin air; I took what I was presented with and drew some conclusions. I can understand that everyone may not arrive at the same conclusion I have, though.

And actually no, I've been telling my friends not to watch it at all and after I tell them what it is, they just shake their head and go "Yeah that's screwed up."

I meant that bronies often complain that people hate MLP:FiM when they have never actually watched it. Speaking more generally, I was talking about the saying "don't judge a book by its cover".

I really, REALLY hated this video. I mean, I can handle gore. Even in the case of Cupcakes (which I admittedly skimmed) I wasn't THAT surprised because I knew what was written on the pages.

I click on this video expecting a fun little fanimation for the Smile song. It starts off all fun and happy and cute. Pinkie's running to her friends, Twilight waves pleasantly, and OH MY- WHAT. WHAT.

I'm not kidding, that twist in tone genuinely terrified me. Like, I genuinely jumped when it happened, and was actually still shaking from it afterward. I told my friends that I hope the guy walks on an interstate of unconnected legos, and I admit that's too much... a simple sidewalk should do.

I hated Cupcakes, I DESPISE this video, and I absolutely loathe the fact that anyone would think it would be okay to make a genuinely innocent looking video that would probably get a lot of views, from all kinds of people, and make it an absolute bloodbath.

I didn't get past the start of Rarity's beating, and I never intend to. The video belongs in hell, and I look forward to seeing it there.

(No offense to those who liked the video. To each their own and all that. And I am a pretty weak-willed person anyhow.)

I found the video to be disgusting and CREEPY as #$%* The smile on Pinkie's face is so creepy i swear. At first i thought it was going to be a happy video but boy was i wrong! Although i was cheering on for Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy when they were kicking Pinkie's ass but then they got killed. I cant bear to watch the video again

I was not a fan of it in the least. I don't really like seeing the characters I love being brutally murdered by another character I love. But that's just me.

Plus I'm not huge on the whole super gore thing,

My friend showed it to me the other day and when I saw it and I got kind of scared by it. It kind it was like re reading and re watching cupcakes, but on a new style of fighting instead of cutting up other ponies and eating them.

Overall I think the animation is amazing, it's just the way the Pinkie Pie is beating up all her friends that kinda of scares me.

It's not even just the pure violence that disturbs me the most. It's the way it's so unrelenting in such a cutesy and peaceful setting.

It's like, who cares if you get Bloody Mess in Fallout 3 and gib enemies constantly. The setting is already so bleak and the media, with or without the perk, is already endlessly violent and full of black comedy, so it's not even disturbing to me, especially considering how uncanny valley the characters appear.

There's a big difference when the source media is a kid's show with cute and interesting characters we all know and love, that has no real violence whatsoever, and has a very lighthearted and lovely tone.

I've watched the video multiple times to really try and understand what I feel about it and it actually comes down to the first impression I had, which is; it's animated stupidly well and the song is freaking great (of course, it was made separately, so I at least get to enjoy it without the accursed video) but that doesn't change that the acts and theme are disgusting and worthy of a trash-bin. Just a waste of space on a youtube server hard drive somewhere, to be honest, even if that sounds rude, and it's also a waste of the creator's talent that he could spend making actual art or at the very least things that are humorous without such gross violence.

(I tried re-watching PONY.MOV today to get a feel as for why I don't hate it like I hate Smile HD, and it really boils down to that PONY.MOV has a disparate animation style, absolutely over-the-top voice-acting, and actual humor aside from violence, along with somewhat literary references, so the violence really isn't as disturbing as Smile HD, which has only Pinkie's in-show singing, the same animation style, and the only references being to DBZ which really wasn't anywhere near as violent as Smile.)

Smile HD compared to PONY.MOV is rubbish. It's just shock value at its worst, not even interesting in the juxtaposition it could present between the way we react to violence around things we would normally find endearing.

I didn't much care for it. Didn't suit my tastes.

I'm not denying that it was very well done, that it was. The animations were smooth and flowed with the music nicely, and yadda yadda yadda.

But considering I don't have much of a stomach for things like Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory, Smile HD, with Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory, were shoved into my NOPE NOPE NOPE category.

Rainbow Fun Factory by FiMFlamFilosophy is much better. Really catchy song, and the video isn't violent at all, although the lyrics reference the original.

I sorta like FiMFlamFilosophy, although I don't watch a lot of their stuff, honestly.

...

I looked up the video. I like how Surprise is in it, and I really like the song itself, although I'm not a big fan of Dash's vocalist. Which, as I remind myself, is probably the reason I'm not big on their stuff. I know it's no one's fault, but still. :/
