What is your opinion on the MLP toys?

We should all be glad that Lauren Fause didn't make the show towards advertising. It almost feels as though the show itself has nothing to do with hasbro and its toys, as the quality of MLP: FiM exceeds that of the toys which hasbro makes. Also, why can't Celestia AT LEAST be white? It's a simple color change. They actually believed that the pink would attract more little girls, but the truth is that it won't. Pink is often described as a girls color, but in truth it is really just a bright color.

i have 2 keychain figurines "crystal edition" (pinkie pie and dashie) i agree it's not the best i've ever seen concerning this, i think hasbro could put abit more time into this, but as seen so many times now, im pretty sure they didn't see this huge fandom comming. but im still glad that i got my toys, they're still kind of pretty epic in my own opinion :P

I'm not especially into toys. Collecting them takes so much space, and frankly, I don't have it. I do have some G1/2 ponies that I got when I was little, and I love them.

And I like the Pinkie Pie crystal keychain I have... It's wonderful, tho the mane is nothing close to Pinkie's in the show.

OK, guys ... here's a great reason why the toy Celestias shouldn't be pink. Are you ready for this?

I have a four-year-old daughter. (Yes, I'm older than a lot of you.) I got her the Celestia/Spike/Twilight toy set because she loves the show. (She and I watch it together. LOL.) Anyway, I had never said anything to her about toy Celestia being pink and cartoon Celestia being white. Never mentioned it to her, not one time.

Yesterday, she was looking at her toy Celestia and frowned, and said "Why is she pink? Why is she not white?" !!!!!!!! Yes, even a 4-year-old can tell the difference between pink and white, and she was actually disappointed that toy Celestia wasn't the same color she is on the show!

Apparently, Hasbro thinks that only adults notice these things. Wrong.

Although they're waaaay late, Hasbro is beginning to make Celestia white. This one is a Toys R Us exclusive that's going to be released later this year. The blindbag Celestia is white. White fashion style Celestias were on TaoBao for a while (probably still are), and I see those on ebay quite a bit.

It took a lot of complaining, but they're starting to correct their mistakes.

Yeah, it's like that everywhere including stores like Wal-Mart and Toys'R'Us.

They had Rainbow dash with a weird turtle/flower like animal instead of Tank the turtle and Applejack had some weird other thing as opposed to Wynona.

I had a lot o negative things to say when I bought my first toys but whatever. I still got Pony toys so I'm fairly content.

Eh, I don't have any interest in purchasing any toys, so if Hasbro wants to not give a crap, fine. Sorry if I sound a little harsh, but I'm just being honest here; I still don't think Hasbro should get that much credit for G4's success. Someone there for some reason had the hindsight to hire Lauren Faust as executive producer, who in turn put together a great crew of producers, writers, animators, and voice actors all dedicated 110% to their craft. If Hasbro decides to not put the same effort into producing their toys as the show's makers do when producing their show, then that's their problem.

So-so.

I love them because they're ponies.

I don't like them because they're not correct.

The brushables, I wish their manes were like the actual character. But I guess that leaves room for some creativity and work on the buyer's part. Could be fun grooming them to fit the pony.

I really hate that their Celestia toys are pink though. They got it right on the Easter chocolate box, why get it wrong on the toy? :C

Hasbros MLP: FIM plushes and toys are terrible.

http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pony-Jumbo-Plush/dp/B004BIPVD8/ref=dp_cp_ob_t_title_0

^DOES THIS LOOK LIKE PINKIE PIE?! No! It doesn't!

I either buy a terrible Hasbro Pony Plush or a great but VERY expensive Fanmade plush.

^Take notes hasbro! That is what a Pinkie Pie plush should look like!

I really only like the brushables, but I think it's because of being able to style the hair however I want to. But I do wish that the other toys were more show accurate instead of the 3.5 newborn ones -____-

If the basic toys looked better, I'd probably have gotten one. The blindbag figures will suffice for now, though...

I willingly acknowledge that I adore this show, but I'm not about to purchase pony toys.

Now if there's a Discord toy I come across that's a different story~

I'm mostly OK with the toys. I have some of the blindbag toys (including a generic pegasus I painted to be Derpy), and a brushable Fluttershy. The only things I want are the new Zecora, and a molded hair Fluttershy that actually looks like her. The recoloured Dashie claiming to be her is awful! Even a winged version of the Pinkie Pie mold would be closer!

Apparently, Hasbro thinks that only adults notice these things. Wrong.

Pink Celestia drives me crazy because I'm female, and I never liked pink not even as a little girl. Sigh. I mean, Mattel already does "pink" to excess, so I wish Hasbro wouldn't. Girls do buy toys that aren't pink.

Actually it's not Hasbro at fault here. Blame the big toy stores like Toys R Us. Their bulk buyers have this crazy idea in their head that girls (or rather parents and relatives of girls) won't buy things unless they are pink.

or in the words of Lauren herself:

EDIT: Actually it's not the pink that bothers me with Celestia, it's the gender-stereotyped nonsense that she says when you press her button. Celestia is a great role model for girls in the show, but her toy is only interested in brushing her hair and looking pretty.

I think the Fluttershy and Rarity dolls are the most accurate. I could care less about the descriptions, it's more of the dolls themselves. The Fluttershy and Rarity dolls' manes are easiest to fix. The others are a bit hard, like Applejack's mane. I do like how they tied off AJ's mane with a red rubber band though :D

I'm slightly disappointed in the pink Celestia dolls. It's something that the manufacturer could easily fix, but they have two versions instead.

  • 7 months later...

Though, I dislike the toys my myself-its all explanatory.

Hasbro is being clear-cheap-os and not sticking to the original show design. They're just cheap and that's why the tend to make tens upon thousands of ridiculous recolors. Hasbro, try harder if u want tons of sales!

I don't really care about the packaging. Most of the time I'll just (gently...) tear the pony out and discard the box.

I'm starting to like the combable hair ponies. I did find molded hair ponies though in Zellers here in Canada. I just hope they continue with it and do more.

I think that most standard sized basic pony brushables are alright. The colors are usually correct (except Twilight and pink Celestia) and come with accessories. Although the manes are not accurate by default, you could always learn to style them yourselves, which I think would be a nice experience. As for one sided cutie marks... well, just look at them from one side!

For the playset toys, I honestly don't really like them. They aren't very detailed and don't look very sturdy. Blind bag figures are good for someone who wants to collect small scaled ponies, but other than that, I cannot think of any other positive things about this. Only the Mane 6 (except for  :( ) is accurate, and everypony else are very show inaccurate. At least they have 2 cutie marks. I think that Hasbro DEFINATELY has enough money to make show accurate blindbags, as in a different and accurate mold for different characters. Think of Lego blind bags. Every single minifigure from every single series is different from one another. If Hasbro changes their ways and do what Lego does, they could make even more money from the blind bags. I'm not going to compain anymore because things like this has been mentioned too many times and yet little action has been seen or made by Hasbro  <_<

By the way, I saw that toywiz.com has a new selection of standard size brushables, with different packaging, and accessories which seem to suit the character better. An example would be Fluttershy:

Does anyone have a pony with this packaging? If so, do they have two cutie marks? Thanks!

They are starting to expand on blindbag molds. But, instead of being in the actual blindbags, they come in character sets of three. So far, every pony has been from the show, and they are extremely accurate.

As for the new brushables having two cutie marks, I wouldn't get my hopes up. Not even the Funko vinyl collectables have two cutie marks. <_<
