Thoughts on the Crocodile

Or Rockodile as I've also heard it called.

So what did you all think of it?

I loved it myself

I believe that this is the first monster/animal that hasn't been portrayed in some sort of cartoonish way and actually gave me the sense that Twilight and the others were in real danger.

But that said I also feel the animation was kinda out of place for the show overall

But I still loved it

I thought it was awesome. Something that hostile living in the Everfree makes it understandable that it's a dangerous place and it proves its very dangerous.

Like the timberwolves though it had awkward  3d animation. kind of like how Avatar: The last Airbender when they mix 2d with 3d animation.

It was badass the rockodile/crocodile. I think it should just be called a rockodile judging by how awesome it was I can only imagine what more monsters/creatures/animals we'll see in the future. Just shows us how little we know about the everfree forest, there are probably plenty of monsters/creatures that have yet to be introduced.

The Cragodile/Rockodile's animation was vastly better than that of the Timberwolves and I loved it's dinosaurian design. I did not like how easily it was defeated.

The Rockodile's animation was pretty impressive from the last time we saw CGI animation in the show in Spike At Your Service. The way it was defeated, left a lot to be desired. On the bright side, there are many monsters and creatures in the Everfree Forest that we don't know about and will see them very soon.

I liked it. I think it was taken care of too easily. then again crocodiles aren't good on dry land

all in all, its good in the everfree though that means the everfree is part swamp now =P or was it already part swamp? can't remember /=|

anyway, yay for new everfree creatures. always a plus :3

I thought Applejack said "Crocodilly"...

From the promo, I thought he was going to be a significant villain, but... Obviously not. Just another Everfree Forest beast.

And, also from the promo, I didn't believe it was MLP for a second! Alike the Timberwolves, the 3D, jointed sort if animation made it look like a different cartoon.

just re-watched the crockodile/rockodile/whatever scene.

It dwelt in green goopy water and looked really menacing. Stuff just got real.

Epic fail by Twilight trying to fly away.

I found myself scratching my head after it was taken down in like 1.5 seconds though. One rope, two ropes, then eight.

I liked the design of the crocodile and the scene itself, but I'm getting seriously pissed with all the random CGI things being thrown into every 2d animation these days.  I got a news flash for animators.  It looks TERRIBLE!  It has nothing to do with the quality of the animation, it looks stupid by virtue of being a random 3d animation in a 2d film.  There is no possible way to make it look good, because it looks so out of place.  There pretty much just pulling a "Look what we can do!" type thing.  It's just not necessary or cool.  Just draw a crocodile and be done with it.  You aren't going to get special points just because you hired a 3d animator to make one puppet for you and then slapped it over a 2d animation.

I don't think using CG automatically looks awful but, it needs to be able to blend into the show and not feel awkward or look weird. So far MLP has not once made it work and it looks weird every time. With the crocodile it was completely useless but, with the old elements I at least got it since they were spinning but, it still looked bad and out of place. I think I even saw Luna CG for like half a second during the fight scene and it just looks awkward and bad. I'd only use it for like a really quick shot of an object that moves a lot or something but, I'd try way harder to make it less obvious.

With the things like Timberwolves and the crocodile there was no point at all, though. It seems like they just want it to look more impressive but, it doesn't look impressive at all. It looks kind of lame. I remember Spongebob episodes from Season 2 that had CG elements and I thought it was less out of place than MLP's and with Spongebob it was back when CG was still kind of impressive. (Although, I think it comes down to them using them smartly.)

I thought it was a cool new creature to add to the show. I like how it kinda had that 3D animation that the timberwolves had. I like how Applejack called it a "crackadilly" lol.

Just dawned on me. How come Fluttershy wasn't able to talk to it?

Personally, I like the Rockodile too, very Monster Hunter. XD

Also, tying up the beast is more or less how folks in real life capture them (short of just using a big gun). If they weren't squeezing so much stuff into the ep it would have been nice if that since were a little longer.

Crocodile is the proper way of saying it.

Rockodile seem to be what the fans are calling it.(which is what I like)

Crocodilly I feel was more Applejacks southern twang coming out.

But in all realities its personal preferences and like most monsters, its probably the last we'll see of it.

Too bad its not an alligator cause I have this little gag running threw my head seeing Croc telling Mr Gummy that he's his father all Star wars scene style

It looked more like an alligator to me, but I still thought it was pretty awesome.
It's just a shame that it came and went in the space of 2 minutes.

Have a nice cold pint, and wait for all this to blow over..
