That my dear friend, is a nice gaming rig. Team RAM is quite new, tell me how it works out for you okay? I was planning on seeing if I can get some cheaper then G-Skill or something like that.

Heck I saw some DDR3 2400 8GB by Team for 62 bucks since it was on sale :3

A shoutout to Dr-Whooves for making this sweet thing~

Also, 2400mhz ram is going to be a waste for you. Just get some 1600 (kingston hyperx or corsair is my favorite) and be happy with it.

According to the guys on Tom'sHardware Vulcan isn't as reliable as 'trusted' brands (corsair, kingston, mushkin, g-skill, etc.)

Also you have to be careful to make sure the ram is compatible with your mobo.

Could I lower my processor to 3.1 GHz without too much of an issue?

Is there any reason as to why you would want to do that?

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

Does it work now? Im planning on running modern to next-gen games on it.

Just a word of advice: there is no concept of "next-gen" like on the consoles on the PC as it is constantly evolving.

The RAM could be a bit better, like Corsair, Kingston or G-Skill (is Elixir a "trusted" brand? My laptop has 16GB DDR3-1600 RAM from Elixir.) Clock speed of the RAM doesn't matter much too, at least not right now anyway, so you're better off with 1600MHz or 1866MHz RAM. Other than that it looks good.

If you are doing gaming I suggest getting a better cooling unit. Stock coolers are OK, but if you are going to be using the computer heavily for long periods of time it will be in your best interest to have a better cooling unit. Also don't even bother overclocking RAM or getting overclocked RAM, I never noticed a difference in my machines when I used overclocked RAM.

Daring: I think that the "next gen" term is meant to refer to "PC games getting released alongside an Xbox One / PS4 version". They're normally going to generally match the par course on consoles, with some eye candy added.

When I went for my big computer upgrade recently, I decided on a Haswell processor - I thought I might have heard something about how it would have a better upgrade path. However, an Ivy Bridge (socket LGA 1155) should ultimately have the same gaming power at the same Ghz level. Just remember that if you can put together a Haswell setup on Newegg for the same price (as I did, thanks to sales), you may as well go for it.

IF you have money to burn and are interested, you could think about getting an SSD as well; a low-capacity one for just the operating system and smaller programs (and, the few games you play the most). I did that and I'm very happy to have the shorter boot times. It's always possible to upgrade to that later on, but you'd very likely have to reinstall the operating system.

I actually do a good bit of RAM overclocking. It's not really useful unless you're using it for something besides games that takes a lot of memory, especially modeling and animating.

As far as gaming goes, everything looks perfect. If you're using a stock CPU cooling unit, you'd most likely have your computer overheating after running for too long, I made that mistake once. However I wouldn't go with liquid cooling, mainly because they can get risky. I've heard some awful stories of the fan breaking. If it breaks, your whole computer's fried.

Ok looks like I'm set, but does anyone recommend a particular cooling system?

Cooler Master EVO or if you want to splurge, a corsair H80i.

OS Can be pirated, I am sorry I just don't believe in paying money for Windows. I have just been re-using a Student copy key of Windows 7 over and over and over, and Microsoft is none the wiser, I also payed nothing for it since the school did that already.

I am currently running 8GBs of Vulcan 1600 RAM. No issues so far. The Brand loyalty for RAM needs to stop. RAM is RAM, the only difference is the chips used on the sticks and the heat spreaders. (Which are pointless anyway unless you are overclocking em')

You can get a 8 Core AMD FX CPU that is comparable to a current i7 for for $30 less than that i5. I am all for Intels but to me they are only a CPU to get if you want to go all the way with a computer build, if building on any kinda budget, I go with AMD, because the bang for you buck is much much bigger.

Other than that, everything else looks good. You could cut costs in allot of places and still have the quality, but that is your choice.

My only true recommendation is switching CPU brands, that is it.

Although I am guilty of it with Gigabyte boards.

They are just so amazing! Don't think I have built a computer for anyone without one yet.  /\_/\"

But I would buy a Asus board in a heartbeat if it is the only one in my price bracket with features I want.
