I am 24. And I'll probably be using this thread frequently to keep me comfortable and sane as I acknowledge that I'm growing old. -_-

Here's a prompt: what memories of life do you have that will be lost to those who are under age 20?

Today people sit on their phones at parties, it hurts my feels.

I hear you loud and clear. I never even bought a smartphone. I want face-to-face interaction with people, no electronics involved. I like the internet but I don't like it dominating my existence. It definitely needs to be less dominant. If you're interested, I wrote a thread called "How To Prevent The Internet From Taking Over Your Life". Go to my profile, "find content", check it out, and apply the recommendations to your own world.

Here is some of what I remember from years long gone by:

-I've eaten a tan M&M before. Yes, for those of you in the back: THERE USED TO BE NO BLUE M&MS, ONLY TAN.

-I remember the Chicago Bulls back when Michael Jordan played for them. But I was a Suns fan all the way. I had a Charles Barkley jersey and everything.

-Speaking of Jordan, I saw Space Jam when it was in theaters. Ditto for The Lion King. Ditto again for The Hunchback Of Notre Dame.

-I remember watching the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 1998 Nagano Olympics. And yes, the USA girls gymnastic team really was that awesome. Even to someone like myself who normally wouldn't care about gymnastics.

-I remember airport security before September 11th, 2001. It was a snap!

-On the morning of September 11th, I was in 7th Grade. The attacks happened while I was getting ready for school in the morning. Our next-door-neighbors called and told us to turn the T.V. on because the World Trade Center was on fire.

-my first memory of politics was the 1992 Presidential Election where my mother voted for Ross Perot. I might have even gone with her to the polling location.

-I remember a time when no one owned a cell phone except the very well-off. When you wanted to hang out with someone you'd just go over to their house and ring their doorbell. Simple as that.

-The first internet forum I ever joined was in 2002 for the Robot Wars show that was on TNN (now Spike TV). And the first forum I ever joined that I really called "home" was Neoseeker, that same year. The internet in my elementary school, junior high, etc. years was very different. When you wanted to watch funny web animations, you went to Atom Films, Joe Cartoon, Z-Thing and Homestar Runner (tho the latter persisted until 2010).

-Before the internet came into my life, I got all my info from books mainly (still do, alot of the time). I had weather almanacs and atlases and a book about the U.S. presidents and...I was a weird kid. Which is why I became a weird young man.

If you are reading this you clearly have sometime on your hands, or you just like to read. Lets be honest they can be very related, you are on a forum dedicated to pastel colored miniature equines. Though if reading this is a waste of time, what would it say about the person who is writing it....

also The Game, Consult the Helix Fossil, /0, and other such maymays

Take me out, to the black. Tell my ma I ain't coming back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me."
