gaming Favorite Boss Fight

Did you play video games as a child? Probably! Do you still play video games? I know I don't!

Well, I remembered how good it was to be a kid the other day, and the best part was Play Station!

My favorite series was the Sly Cooper games, and no matter which one I play, my favorite boss fight will always be Clockwerk from Sly Cooper & The Thevius Racoonus. Damn did I suck at the game, but it sure was fun.

So, what's your favorite boss fight?

Mechanically I'd have to say that my favorite boss fight was the final puzzle room from Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward. While not a 'boss' per-say, it's a mind-bendingly hard puzzle that is a fitting close to an excellent game.

Fun-wise I chose Galactus from Marvel vs. Capcom 3... It's just way too much fun to 3-shot him as Dark Phoenix.

Favorite bosses include:

Giygas - Earthbound

The Barrier Trio - Mother 3

Khukulkan the Wind God - Serious Sam The Second Encounter

Cyberdemon - Doom

Baby Face - Dynamite Headdy

Mom - The Binding of Isaac

Courtney Gears - Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal

Lavos - Chrono Trigger

And then some others I can't think of

Figured I should give special mention to baby Face, by showing a nice little video!

Geez... I'm not as big a gamer as I used to be but I have fought some bosses in my day. But narrowing them down would be too hard. My favorites must definitely come from The Legend of Zelda. I mean... most Legend of Zelda bosses are not straight forward. Despite obvious weak spots, the real fun and enjoyment is figuring out how you apply your special equipment and manipulate the environment to your advantage.

Yes... The Legend of Zelda!

Ganondorf from Twilight Princess was fun, especially the variety of stages the fight went through.

When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move,
your job is to plant yourself like a tree next to the river of truth, and tell the whole world
"No, you move."

"There are a million ways we should’ve died before today… and a million ways we can die before tomorrow… but we fight for every second we get to spend with each other. Whether its two minutes or two days, we don’t give that up. I don’t want to give that up."

Verdugo from Resident Evil 4:

Everything about the fight is perfect imo- the bulidup, the mechanics of freezing him with the cannisters to be able to any sort of signifigant damage, plus he can die in like 3 different ways. You don't even have to kill him if you don't want to, but good luck outlasting that timer as he's constantly after you. :o

I can't narrow it down to just 1 so here is a list.

Banjo-Kazooie: Gruntilda

Banjo-Tooie: Weldar, Lord Woo Fak Fak (Yes, that's actually the name of a boss in an E rated game.), Mingy Jongo, and Gruntilda

Donkey Kong Country 2: Kaptain K. Rool

Kingdom Hearts 1: Sephiroth

Monster Hunter series: All of them except for the 3 Fatalis fights.

You have no idea how hard it was to narrow it down to so few. I didn't even put any of the colossi on the list.

One of my favorite boss battles was when you face the Sax for the first time in Metroid Fusion. Another one is Bowser in the last Castle on New Super Mario Bros Wii.

I have SO many favorites, but I'll just make a short list of some of them:

Kessler (inFamous) - Good battle, quite a bit of atmosphere, and the conclusion was a bit of a surprise.

Wheatley (Portal 2) - This battle is very humorous, much like the rest of Portal, and played very well.

Black Baron (MadWorld) - I don't know why exactly, but I have a LOT of fun with this battle.

My personal favourite boss fight ever?
As difficult a decision as it was to come to I think I've made one:

The final gauntlet ending with Kefka from Final Fantasy VI:

I didn't actually play FF6 for the first time until a few years ago but after playing through the entire game I don't think I could have been given a greater reward than this. The stakes, the atmosphere, the monsters, the build-up, the tension, the music (oh god the music!) everything about this final battle was perfectly executed and truly made you feel as though you really were fighting against a god, a god that over the course of the game you grew to hate and knew that he had to be disposed of.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2

Xion, it was a nice fight, the atmosphere was great, and it was a really emotional period from the game

Pokemon HeartGold

Red, it was simply amazing with the setting, the intense music, and just a great challenge. It's also nice how he is quiet through the whole battle

Can't think of anymore, I should play more video games

Morpha - Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time

Alpha - Mega Man Battle Network 3

I could fill up an entire list with Megaman bosses alone actually

Kurt Zisa - Kingdom Hearts

Shadow Queen - Paper Mario and The Thousand Year Door

Not just the fight itself, but the massive build up before hand.
