I know the line was probably for comedic reasons, but how did she not know ? What about characters who don't have hooves like Spike or Discord ? Don't they have hands ? Rainbow doesn't exactly have a wide vocabulary, at least not at the beginning, and in the show, comics, and novels the characters tend to use 'claws', 'paws', 'talons', etc. for creatures that don't have hooves. 4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Something that (I think) all primates have in common is hands. There are monkeys in Equestria. Fluttershy noted that there was a spider monkey at the garden at Canterlot Castle. So hands do exist in Equestria. There's no reason Dashie shouldn't have known about hands I refuse to let go until you're impressed. I refuse to let go until I'm depressed. From a pony perspective, the term "in good hooves" would be more common, so Twilight saying "in good hands" may have seemed absurd to Rainbow Dash, and her confusion at the phrase may have been mistaken for confusion at the concept of hands. They are the only thing I can think of that have hand hands besides humans. Even then they can call them "paws". It's not too out there that the term "hand" is alien.
