if something like this exists, my bad.

- Linux is more than capable of replacing Windows on the desktop ( already proven for servers ).

- the Xbone is the worst console all because of its crappy DRM.

- Both AMD and Intel are cool

- Apple Macbook airs are the best valued ultrabook ( or flatbook ) you can buy at this point.

- I think sound cards are obsolete, uneeded, and expensive.

- Gaming laptops are pointless, Why would one need to game on the go?

- Smartphones and tablets are pointless since they only consume media, and not really create.

Go on ahead, post your unpopular tech related opinions.

oh yeah...

- Windows 8 UI, while usable, is very counter-intuitive, and thus steering many long time customers of M$ away.

Unless you like good quality on your sound... Or you're a musician.

Here are mine:

  1. AMD is better than nVidia
  2. Mantle API will make DirectX a thing of the past
  3. Often, old hardware (5 years or more) can function just as well as modern hardware, even in resource-intensive gaming

Oh and BTW Linux has already mostly replaced Windows on the Internet - most servers run Linux.

- Brand loyalty is pointless and not needed, all electronics are made in china anyways.

That's what DACs or Audio Receivers are for.

and yes I am very aware of that, I meant for the desktop.

That's because it was. Win8 is a bit schizophrenic in its design. But yeah that metro garbage was designed for touch screens.

It was? wtf.

Let's hope Windows 9 learns from Windows 8's mistakes, otherwise I'll just stick with Win 7.

Windows not learning is why everyone wanted to stick with XP. Welp guess we can't do that no more.

-I don't see the point for home consoles as sans gaming exclusives they're not worth paying something like 50 dollars per year for online service while I don't have to do that for Nintendo or my PC online services.

-Origin has been making strides in improving themselves in the gaming community. They're certainly much better than Ubisoft's Uplay (drains my entire house's bandwidth for a download other online services don't do unless I'm taxing it with other downloads.)

-I view Activision worse than EA.

-Nintendo needs to start getting their heads out of their asses and stop relying on Mario and Zelda to carry them. Find some new blood that doesn't involve a 2nd party studio but an in-house.

-Graphics do matter, but art design is integral to a game more so.

-Amd, Nvidia, and Intel make awesome products so no need to fight which is better when they all have their strengths and weaknesses to please anyone's tastes.

-Why are people attacking Microsoft's DRM so harshly when Sony essentially allows any other company to place their DRM on their console too.

-I think the Wii U is the console of choice because I do like the game pad, being able to play 1080p better than the xbox one at the moment, they know exclusives alone will drive it instead of trying to get multiplatform games the PC will perform best anyway, and free online service instead of Sony's and Microsoft's stupid subscription services to recuperate money (First time they've adopted Nintendo's strategy of making a profit per console sell ironically when Nintendo decided to go against this with the Wii U).

Microsoft just isn't an innovative company now. If they entered the market today, they'd fail for lack of vision.

I hear their new CEO is better than Ballmer though, but Ballmer dropped the ball on so many things anyway I don't know how hard it could be to replace him.

Can you (or anyone) explain to me why consoles have paid subscriptions for online use? Absolutely ridiculous.

To get more money out of their consoles as Microsoft's Xbox division has been bleeding them money for years, and Sony is in even worse spot than Nintendo is financially as companies like Samsung has been kicking their asses in the electronics world and they've been doing pretty poorly in movies as well.

Okay .. well I understand that they WANT you to give them money for practically nothing. So yeah I get that if they can make you pay for something that PC gamers would laugh out the door that they will, because companies like money. I like money too. Money's awesome.

So maybe I should rephrase the question: why are people willing to pay them for online use? Because it is ridiculous.

Ah, it's because they generally have friends to play with on consoles, content with playing and using a console instead of a pc, and generally believe getting a pc to outperform a console is going to cost over a thousand when it isn't the case, especially not this gen. Edited by Nuke87654

I guess I forget that when my basic worldview of computers and games and consoles was cemented, it was at a time when the internet didn't exist and C64s were still in use. And that, for the most part, if you played games or used a computer at all, you had to have some level of knowledge about wtf you were doing.

I keep forgetting this isn't that time anymore.

It's weird to me. Whenever a new version of Windows is made I always think about how bloated it is. It needs HOW much disk space? HOW much RAM? Jesus Christ .. look at how many processes are running! And I want to shut a bunch of them down .. as if computer power wasn't doubling for half the cost every week anyway ..

And I'm not even old

Okay okay, but yeah. It just never really occurred to me since our family bought it's first Tandy machine that I *wouldn't* always have a proper desktop (in addition to any laptop/ipod/ipad/console I might ALSO own) so to pay for features that are just inherent in PCs in consoles, which seriously are just computers anyway, is just so bizarre to me.

Indeed, it's rather unfortunate to see so many people uninformed for the reality of what console gaming is. I mean for example, I never take anything shown at E3 that is a console exclusive for it's graphics anymore because I know they're powered by high end Pc's instead of the consoles themselves, but so many buy it still simply to have those graphics they're never going to have on their game console.

- I'd rather play video games on consoles rather than on a PC.

- For Internet usage i prefer PC over tablets.

- Cell phones are communication devices. Nothing more, nothing less.

- I prefer Playstation and Nintendo over XBox (someone actually called me a tramp for that :P)

- I could care less if a cell phone or a computer was brand new. As long as it's functional, i'm happy. What's so special about having "the newest model" anyways?

Oh yeah .. I heard about that actually. I don't watch E3 but I always hear about it each year. I heard that the demos were run on high end equipment instead of the actual consoles. Hilarity.

More hilarity, when gamers declared Wii U's tech demo unimpressive to look at, it was revealed the tech demo was powered by 360 tech. Nice troll moment from Nintendo.

Smart phones in general are awful. The entire business model is based on grabbing the personal information of millions or sucking wallets dry through microtransactions. The apps themselves are mindless, soulless, useless or have existed in the form of a flash game since 2005. (Don't get me wrong, apps that have genuine use for education, health or science are fantastic. Those good apps are sadly in the minority.)

Software is getting too bloated. Just because we have machines with 16 gigs of ram, that doesn't excuse your web browser from needing a gigabyte of ram to have 3 tabs open.

I hold the position that the PC is still going strong, contrary to media belief.

bash is a horrible language with outdated documentation everywhere, I consider it only slightly better than writing batch files. Learn perl or python and do yourself a favour.

Windows 8 was a really bad idea: Microsoft obviously forgot to not fix what isn’t broken:

The new start menu is really stupid: for a smart phone/pad it’s all good but for a PC? It looks fancy, but it’s as if it’s a second Desktop which just makes it a bit too all over the place and really annoying, old Windows was so easy and so simple.

I'm sticking with Windows 7
