I laughed out loud  Nice one, man :D

I remember that line...ah, the golden days. This episode is so much different than anything you'd see back then because it's so dark, a bit *too* dark for my tastes, but enjoyable nonetheless :D

Can't help but miss those old days of Season 1, but time keeps marching on, and if you don't go with it, you'll get left behind :D

This little joke brings back some fond memories, though.

Why, thank you most sincerely.

Myself, I don't much mind a narrative changing its tone - it's when I see a narrative beginning to forget its characters (especially in favor of plot) that I start to worry. I thought "A Canterlot Wedding" was a magnificent example of a significant shift in tone that nevertheless remembered and developed its characters. But these past 5 episodes have been... worrying examples of the opposite trend. In my opinion, of course - but I do hope they begin to improve.

Now where did you get the image for you avatar? It is absolutely magnificent.

Overall, I don't think this episode has much going for it. Rarity's immature behavior in the first part of the episode is painful to watch. Also, Rarity's running around making "upgrades" and Spike's continuous fawning over Rarity, even as her behavior continues to get worse, aren't particularly entertaining in the first place, and become quite repetitive by the end of the episode. My observations will be relatively short, since ultimately, not a whole lot actually happens in the episode.

First, Rarity's reaction to not being able to "leave her creative mark" on the Ponyville Foal and Filly Fair is immature, baffling, and a little annoying. Rarity's screaming and crying fit probably lasted for a while - long enough for Spike and Owlowiscious to venture through the Everfree Forest, get the book from the ruined castle, and come all the way back. But Rarity doesn't just scream and cry and lay on her couch - she force-feeds herself ice cream to the point of stuffing her cheeks while making "nom nom nom" noises, and does this in between sobs and in the middle of a conversation with Spike, not to mention that she shovels down 12 tubs of ice cream by the time her fit is done. And why is Rarity doing all of this? Because, in her words, she wanted to "leave her creative mark" on the Ponyville Foal and Filly Fair, and now apparently she can't. The audience doesn't even know what the Ponyville Foal and Filly Fair is, let alone why it would be so important to Rarity, so I find it difficult to even see why Rarity reacts so terribly to this.

The possession made Rarity uninhibited and free to try whatever had crossed her mind.

Thinking something could look better and wanting to improve it is not looking down on it.

That's my only quibble.

It's not a terribly serious episode but I understand disliking the liberties it takes.

This episode made me think beyond even the lesson Spike learned about telling the truth.

Imagine how boring art would be, if you could simply snap your fingers and bring anything you thought of creatively to life. There would be no point to learning, or trial and error. Everything would come out perfectly the first time; where's the fun in that!?

I don't know how Rarity (or rather, HASBRO) could have missed something SO IMPORTANT. They missed a golden opportunity to deepen the relationship between Spike and Rarity, as well as FURTHER expansion on Rarity as a character.

The more I think about this, the more the episode was a rather big disappointment.

It doesn't seem that far to me, I remember this line (but not the episode) and I like it too :), I'm sure we'll have the same kind of lines in the future.

Inspiration Manifestion is darker than the other episodes, that's just an exception.

Members Posted 26 April 2014 - 04:28 PM At the very end, Twilight says "Princess Luna and Candance" what about Celestia? Being lazy again i assume >.>

or she was kidnaped by Molestiea? Celestia  was always much more of ill direct efforts from here kind of ruler!

What I think is... critical and agreed for Rarity to be good! :)

Princess Twilight Sparkle always do legendary stuff with magic in Equestria. Time to blast from the past.

LZ? Could you expand on that?

Character going crazy over some triviality. Used as an excuse to jumpstart the plot. Etc.

Other episodes have also made similar mistakes but were meant to be serious episodes: like RF (wherein many of the characters are retrograded to fit the plot).

But those episodes are more highly rated on this site.

Well, if Rarity does something it is of course way more severe, horrible and selfish than if done by other ponies. If another pony does something bad it is of course ooc, and it's the writers fault, but if Rarity does something bad she is a horrible female dog that only could have the worst intentions with her actions. Thats the reason that Raritys actions have to be analysed for hidden selfish agendas, because clearly she cannot just be a flawed but friendly and generous pony. That would just be silly...

It kinda shows that i have mixed relations with the fandom, does it? :muffins:

Okay, that makes sense. Seems like a lousy way to thicken the plot though.

After rewatching this episode it was great.

I noticed new things such as the good music, the good animation etc.

It does drag when she's changing things but the new animations make it work.

And, true, you can nitpick the way it gets started you can do that with pretty much every freakout episode.

I would say on the whole this episode is better than Party of One as PoO had nothing going for it outside of Pinki's craziness (which was 5 minutes) fueling the headcanons of the fandom.

Rarity: Spike, this whole thing was crazy. It was like I had ideas and creativity galore. I'm happy that you broke the spell.

Spike: You're welcome.

Rarity: In just a moment something was going to happen between you and me.

Spike: What would have happen?
Rarity: Well I was going to... *Whisper in Spike's ear.*

Spike: *Blushes* You...you...were going to do that to me?

Rarity: Well the bedroom scene is a good place to make creative art. *Giggles.* I'll have to write some of these ideas down for future reference for my special some pony. *Leaves*

Spike: Ahhhhhhh. I could have lived out my fantasy.

Owlowiscious: Who?

Spike: This is your fault you feather brain.

Owlowiscious: Who.

Spike: We're really going to do this?

... as you may have guessed, I didn't come up with this sentence but randomly found it on the net. But I like it.

Kind of bland, sort of generic episode for the most part. A lot of random events about evil-rarity, turning almost everything into her desires. Lets be honests, the main idea wasn't that good to begin with.

Repetitive over-use of owlicious. It wasn't funny the first time, guess what about the next one hundred twenty four "who's".

Let's put Octavia in there because she's Octavia, Whether or not the episode is good or just a random assortment of crap, fans will love it anyway, because they're fans. Let me tell you something, a bad plot will still be a bad plot, no matter how much you try to divert the public's attention.

About the plot, it was kind of expected, coming from Meghan McCarthy, since she has some mixed up repertoire, some of which are good, some others not as much.

I was expecting some more character development and definitely a better plot about this episode, but it felt more like some of those crappy cartoon series you would expect from cartoon-network. So much randomness, luckily enough, not as much as with Three's a Crowd.
Of course, it would have been so much better, had it been done from a slice of life-like perspective instead. Unfortunately it ended up being just a bad episode. Nice lesson, though.

Apologies for my english, it isn't my first language.

I know you can argue that the Inspiration Manifestation spellbook was kept hidden and locked away somewhat decently, but I have to question both Celestia and Luna's logic in what they did with it. Instead of choosing to lock away a dangerous book like that, where someone could stumble onto it eventually (Spike, in this case), why not just have destroyed it in the first place. Furthermore, It seems rather dark to me that Celestia and Luna would have it placed in a rather lethal trap, something I'd have thought neither of them would choose to do. Unless you were a Pegasi or Unicorn you'd be in quite a bit of trouble, and likely get killed (I know Spike got out easily, but not everyone could be as lucky as him). It just feels wrong that those two would put something dark like that (trap, etc.) inside of their old castle. Same could potentially be said for some of their other traps as well.

In short, I question the morality of using a trap as deadly as that coming from two ponies who are supposed to be rather benevolent if I recall correctly. It actually makes me really angry at them, because if they're willing to build something as vile as traps such as that one, who knows what else they may have done. It's hard to trust anyone who would do something like that. I also question some of their other actions, and things they've allowed to occur. Seems I got a lot of questions with no answers coming any time soon apparently. Next, before anyone says anything, I am aware of the good they have done, but that does not excuse these other things I've seen them do and allow.

It'd be great if someone could explain their logic here, cause I've been going back and forth on it myself. It's really become aggravating. I know you can say it's a cartoon but I've always looked into things deeply like this.

Also, first post here (with an exorbitant amount of edits).

Yes, I see that I made a wall of text, but that's just how it panned out.
