Is Spike a pansy?

Disincluding the fact that he is a 'baby' dragon, though!
I mean, when I take a look back on previous episodes, he just seems to act like such a fraidy cat to even have a say of his own. Do you think he is a pansy, and should possibly man up a lot more?

Just a rhetorical question, not Spike bashing here.... ^-^'

What Scootalove said

Spike seems to be afraid of whatever he doesn't understand, until he gets used to it is when he just doesn't mind.

Take into mind also that it's been said that Spike is more like a Pony than a dragon. In numerous episodes Ponies in Ponyville have been known to run and panic at the first thing that threatens or is unknown to them.

He's really young and what not.

He'll either man up and get some chest hair, or end up watching cartoons for little foals telling the adventures of 6 candy colored girls and their goofy pet dog of a sidekick and get trolled endlessly on the Ponynet for it :D

Different people possess different levels of assertiveness. There's nothing wrong with that. I would suggest that being a complete doormat to the detriment of your own personal feelings is unhealthy, but Spike isn't nearly thad bad, and does know when to put his foot down.

He's not a 'pansy'. He's a very young dragon, still learning a lot about how to respond to different situations. He doesn't need to 'man up', as being assertive isn't an inherently masculine trait. Some of the Mane 6 are very assertive. I'm way more assertive than most men I know, and that doesn't make them less manly. It just makes me... assertive.

Spike's struggles with assertiveness are one of the things which make his character charming, and although I don't see him becoming as bossy as Twilight or Appledash, he'll settle into a level which makes him comfortable as he grows up.

Give him a break. He's only a baby dragon and already has a crush. Not to mention acts as the postal service for Twilight/Celestia, writing lists, moving books, saving the Crystal Empire, yadayadayada...

Spike: *Instantly melts iron lock, leisurely strolls through collapsing passageway, and casually steals reality-warping spellbook* *Gets called pansy*

Well, if you read the last line, I said I wasn't "Spike bashing" him in any way. It was only a silly question, non-the less. If you feel the need to be like that about it, feel free. But I believe I know what I said.

Silly, , Spike is a dragon, not a flower.

B-but...he's so delicate. D:

Pretty flower, what kind is that? :3

Chill dawg, no Spike Bashing here. -3-

Nope, Spike isn't a pansy.

Also... pansies aren't bad. If men or boys like 'girly' things, let them be. I think the word you're looking for is probably timorous... -w-

I don't think so, the one positive thing I can say about 'The Crystal Empire' premiere is that he's really the one who saves the day by taking the Crystal Heart from Sombra's old castle and getting it to Cadance when Twilight was trapped allowing them to free the empire from his tyranny.

He stood up to a group of teenage dragons who were all bigger and stronger than him when they wanted to smash phoenix eggs in 'Dragon Quest'.

Spike was determined to save Rarity from the Diamond Dogs.

In 'Power Ponies' he saves the Mane Six from the The Mane-iac.

And in 'Applebuck Season' he has no problem eating muffins infested with live worms.

Instances where he comes of as a 'pansy' can be chalked up to the fact that he's a baby dragon.

So pansy is being used to describe not being able to voice your opinion?  Hmm, throw me a couple of examples where Spike does this in previous episodes so we can debate about this.

I personally don't think he has a problem voicing his opinion (or hasn't displayed this trait often. Again, throw me those examples of where he does that).

(he does obviously in the most recent episode, but I'm also for previous examples as well).

Also, I feel it would be unfair to not include the fact that Spike is still a child dragon (still don't know how long dragons can live for) but he's kid so that's going to be a part of character and should be brought to mind.

The guy is oblivious and conciliatory to a fault most of the time, but it's as much a part of him as Twilight and her love for reading.

You want a sidekick who is a pansy?
