For example, much of my works involve these: (LOOK CAREFULLY)

* absurdism * medieval kingdoms * romance * horses, ponies (especially miserable Shetties), blue jays, crows, ravens, and cockatoos doing weird things * aliens * wars * politics * a lot of anachronism * fictional kingdoms vs republics * people visiting and "civilising/influencing" exotic lands * diplomacy and international politics * space * music (and poems) * descriptions of media and services (e.g. TV stations and railways) * mockery of fangirls, Average Joes and Janes, and Shetland Ponies(* gods and pantheons)

But never these (hopefully): 

* cliches * cliches * moar cliches * childish elements * worthless elements YA novels and Twilight (the novel) has * sorcery * sex of any form.

I would fear that if a fanbase emerges from any of my works, they will fall into the twisted path of the Beliebers and Twihards. Can you help me do things to avert/stop this from happening, otherwise my future works will end up in the trash-bin/bonfire of history?

Well Bieber and Twilight were both crap on their own to begin with, so I guess it's a garbage in- garbage out kind of deal.

 

Then again most fandoms are full of assholes.

When you become famous to that degree it is guaranteed that you will attract some people that disturb and disgust you. You just have to be willing to tune them out and deal with them on the smallest level you can afford to without losing them. You probably don't actually want to lose them because as they say, 'bad publicity is still publicity'. Just handle yourself well and people will realize that the stupidity is your fan's fault, not yours.

Only way to control your fan base is to direct it towards a certain audience and not take any trolls seriously. I don't wish to advertise, but if you happen to watch a twitch streamer by the name of Thorlar, you can see how he deals with people as his community is growing. He's a pretty chill dude and is great entertainment!

I think if you do anything well enough to get a fanbase of any size, all you can do is keep doing what you love. Letting other people ruin your perception of your own work is something every creator faces on some scale, but it can't be your focus while you're creating or you won't really be working on *your* vision anymore. If I ever made something that became popular, I almost think .. I'd rather not know who my fans were.
