Could MLP be gearing up for its first big battle since the S2 finale? (Spoilers)

As I'm sure you all recall, the Season 2 finale saw the Changelings clash with the Mane 6 and Canterlot's defensive forces in a climactic battle which ultimately saw the former defeated, and the Royal Guard in disarray. With everything that we've heard about the S4 finale (spoilers listed below, do not open them if you do not wish to spoil the surprise!) I'd say that this sounds like the makings of a battle to match or even surpass the S2 finale!

A villain escaping from Tartarus that can suck the magic from others

 

 

 

The princesses giving all their powers to Twilight

 

 

 

Discord being tasked with taking out this mysterious villain

 

 

 

Twilight getting a kingdom and a castle in the aftermath

 

 

 

And what about Rainbow Power, come to think of it?

 

 

 

Oh, and there's the possibility Ponyville might get destroyed in the ensuing chaos

 

 

Personally, my feelings about this are mixed. On one side I'm very much looking forward to this. This could be a battle unlike anything we could ever have imagined. On the other hoof, however, I'm terrified this could end with another drastic change to Twilight physically. If the princesses are going to give all their powers to her, then surely her body wouldn't stay the way it was. I fear that a blinding white light would engulf Twi the moment she receives the princesses powers, and in that instant, she takes on a more powerful, regal form similar to that of Celestia, only twice as powerful/regal. Also, at the same time she would become the Mary Sue to end all Mary Sues, rendering her friends needless in the long term and setting herself as an even BIGGER sore thumb before our very eyes.

 

I can't even begin to contemplate the shitstorm that would follow this. It would be the Twilicorn shitstorm tripled. Just think about it.

 

Anyway, what do you guys think?

It could be another big battle that will remind me of A Canterlot Wedding, there might be some drama around it, but I can't wait.

I would like to see them fight a Grogar tier villain. Most people say they would lose, but if the older gens could do it (and they were far more dependent, and required a human to keep them out of trouble), then g4 can do it as well. I want to see them overcome a REAL challenge.
