OK. I Have just realized that their were 6 Ponies, 6 keys and 6 Locks. I Think Tirek was actually chosen because he is close to Satan. So fancy him being beaten by his own number!!! Really. It is very scary that they used 666 to destroy Tirek. Has anyone realized this?

Tirek was imprisoned in Tartarus so if the allusions to Greek mythology are to be believed that would make him a Titan, not Satan. The Titans were the initial primeval gods who were overthrown and imprisoned by the Olympians. That would potentially make Alicorns (Celestia specifically? I've already forgotten Tirek's backstory ) the Olympians.

If we're counting what was needed for Rainbow power, then yes they do count. They never would have gotten the keys without the friends who they helped. They all needed to face a challenge where their element was put to the test to help them.

Indeed. In order for there to be a "satanic number" it'd have to be specifically seen in triplets. Not a natural pattern. Six ponies + six locks = six keys. It could have just as easily been five or three depending on the number of main characters. You'd have to see constant (non-bullshitty) patterns of three sixes everywhere for it to be a "message" and even then there's a distinct possibility that you're specifically looking for something that isn't actually there. People will believe what they want to believe.

Tarterus wasn't hell. Tarterus was the prison of the titans and the place for mortals to be judged. If you were wicked you stayed if you were good you were allowed to cross the river stix if you had proper toll. I'd have to agree with the fact that it's just a coincidence.

I think Tirek was definitely meant to evoke the image of a Satanic figure. Although I think that has more to do with his origins than any conscious decision by DHX. Tirek originated in the 80's where a lot of villains drew much from internal archetypes. Look at Skeletor, Cobra Commander, Mumm-Ra.

 

His inclusion by DHX I think was more an attempt to capitalize on the opportunity to reintroduce and revitalize a forgotten icon, very similar with what they've done with this whole franchise. Now one can't deny that Tirek is by far the most threatening and arguably the biggest threat Equestria has yet faced, and definitely retains the undertones of temptation, and consuming "souls." But again, I think "Satanic" elements are more due to the elements of adapting a deliberately devilish character, rather than the direct intention of the creators.

As a Christian myself, I don't believe that this was done on purpose. I'm pretty sure it was just an incidental type thing. LOL, with this type of philosophy ANYTHING that adds up to 666 or whatever is evil! If you get what I'm trying to say here. It's nothing to worry about... no need to overanalyze everything. (because, heck, there are/were tons of people who think/thought Pokémon was evil! Like c'mon, are you kidding me?!)
