A thought on Celestia

This thought came to me one day. What if the reason Princess Celestia never does anything and relies on Twilight to do it is because she's secretly becoming old and frail. She doesn't want anypony to know that their beloved leader is dying so she allows the misconception that Alicorns are immortal to continue. And the reason she guided Twilight on the path to becoming a princess is so that she would have somepony she knew she could trust to continue her duties of moving celestial bodies.

Luna isn't becoming old because of the time she spent in the moon (she was sort of locked in a stasis) and thus is a thousand years younger than she should be. So this would make it even harder for Celestia to tell the truth if she knew that her younger sister would have to feel the pain she felt of not having a sister for a thousand years.

@Appleloosa Well I would think that when Celestia sent Luna/Nightmare Moon to the moon she locked her in a sort of state of suspended animation. I mean in the first episode she still looked like a little filly when turned back to herself.

She's been alive for 1000 years. Whats a few more years to her?

She does do things, just not in the point of view of the watcher.

Maybe Celestia knows that age spell and can stay young that way. Who knows.

It makes sense. In the very beginning with that "once upon a time" book, Luna and Celestia were depicted as being pretty much the same height(iirc), kinda hinting that they were almost the same age, Celestia being slightly older. But now, Luna's considerably smaller than Celestia, so the whole stasis idea works out imo

I always thought she had Twilight defeat most of the villains is because she was pointing Twilight in the right direction so she could prove herself as Princess.

Like when Twilight is first given the task of saving the Crystal Empire Celestia says to Princess Luna:

Princess Celestia: She will succeed at her task. And when she does, we'll know that she is that much closer to being ready.

And it makes me think that Celestia has done this all along to help Twilight fulfill her destiny.

@Carbon Maestro Well it's just a thought really. Maybe 2000-3000 years is her limit? What you're saying is like saying to a human "You've been alive for a 100 years already, what's a 100 more to you?"

But she never seems to do anything significant. I'd imagine just her attacking Chysalis put a lot of strain and took a lot out of her. Though again it's all just a theory, A PONY THEORY!

Or it could just be the fact that alicorns are not nealy as strong as they are made out to be, including Luna, so that is why Celestia put thos 6 ponies in charge of protecting Equestria from anything that may be evil, since of course she is not strong enough to do it herself, AND she dosn't control the elements anymore.

Celestia is secretly OP and just lets Twi do all the work, because she's magnanimous enough to share glory.

She actually only gave Twi a meager quarter of her power, and let Tirek have only another quarter of her power. Maybe even less than that. Her Cutiemark disappearing with the others was just a well timed illusion spell.

Celestia has all the angles figured out.

Meh. I don't like the Celestia-is-dying theory. It's just because Twilight and the Mane 6 would be "unemployed", if Celestia, Luna and Cadance could manage everything.

And of course, Luna is spared from this theory. I gradually notice that many Luna fans want Celestia to die, but hopefully this won't ever happen. >_>
