What if caffeine was banned in the US?

It wouldn't really affect me.

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

As someone who drinks tea like a fish on a daily basis ( green tea is not caffeine free everypony ), my initial reaction would be this:

Followed by an impromptu Les Miserables style revolutionpost-25260-0-92595900-1400901558.jpg.... well a version in which I would win and not die horribly preferably.

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

I just did a research project for my class about caffeine, in this study it showed the rising market for energy drinks and a huge rise in caffeine toxicity ER cases and even death.  Banning caffeine will only create a crime and criminals that would result in a bigger police state, leaving the sales of the caffeine market to the gangsters.

caffeine is the worlds most common legal drug, if you want to see what a banned world will look like, look no further than the war on drugs.

I'd go full Breaking Bad and manufacture my own Caffeine to sell on the black market. Woe unto any who try to stop me.

Caffeine is a necessity every day. It's what gets me going through the day. Without it, I'd probably be laying down in bed sleeping instead of writing this post right now. Caffeine is what lifts up my mood every morning. If you look at the commercial below, you'll know what I mean when I NEED caffeine, especially coffee. I am such a junkie for coffee.

Honestly, if caffeine were to be banned in the US i'd so move to another country tbh. Mexico or Canada for the most part. I don't think I can withstand a country-wide ban of caffeine at all.

I'd imagine it would go like that one episode of Kids Next Door where Numbuh 2 was driving a tanker full of soda down the road and it was all supposed to be a parody of the rum running of the prohibition era

  • 1 year later...

Extreme rage and chaos would then ensue, there are tons of drinks that use caffeine and that would also cause some pretty bad market backlash.

So what I would do then is fight for it to be legal in Indiana so we could make it an amazing state important item. :3 Economy would then boom! : D I don't think I would be able to do that though.

I didn't bother to read the previous posts because I'm almost sure someone posted this before, but...... . . . . .

The US tried this before with Alcohol, do you remember? The prohibition. One of the biggest effects of the prohibition was, ironically, the increase in (illegal) purchase of alcoholic beverages.

As long as someone is willing to supply, people WILL get their fix. The prohibition increased the wealth of the crime families who were able and willing to monopolize Alcohol - as with all drugs. I'm certain the same would happen if Caffeine-based products were to be banned.

The country would suffer at first, but gradually get over it and be better than they used to be. The huge blow struck in Organic would be a bonus.

Banning caffeine in the US would be a bloody terrible idea, not only would I never visit the country ever again, but it would also mean a lot of controversy, and extreme riots. I hope this doesn't happen in the future.
