  1. You won't meet many, if any, atheists that think that there isn't any chance of there being a higher power. it's just that we believe that the chances are so insubstantial that we don't think much of it. To us, the claim of there being a higher power has no more merit than any other supernatural claim. There's just no reason to think that higher power actually exists.
  2. What? I can't even eat hamburger meat. It's just... Ew. I like grilled chicken, though, so the first looks much better to me. To be honest, I wouldn't even be able to get that burger anywhere near my mouth. It would make me gag.
  3. And that would be coming from one individual Atheist's screwed up mind, not scripture taken from a holy book claimed to be written by or directly inspired by an higher being.
  4. Well, I don't believe there is one that says to kill non-believers.
  5. So why is the bottom right okay with you? As the top right are not 'open to the possibility' of there being a God, the bottom right is not "open to the possibility" of there not being a God. The thing about Agnostic Atheism is that it's probably a bit different from how you're probably thinking. Agnostic Atheists are Agnostic toward an more general concept of a God. Like a Deistic God, we won't claim that doesn't exist with an absolute certainty. However, Agnostic Atheists tend to completely reject the existence of the Abrahamic God (Yahweh, God, Allah). Or at least that is my experience with those who call themselves 'Agnostic Atheists'.
  6. An Oboe or an English Horn (if I got either I would officially own one or more instruments from every woodwind instrument family - Gotta collect em' all! That's not the reason I want one though. lol) An new iPod Classic because mine's battery is messed up. (It's five years old, now) A new graphics card so I can play PC games without fear of frying my integrated one. Clothes! That's it for me now. Although, of course, I have many non-object wants. Like a girlfriend, health, etc.
  7. My bassoon and saxophone: The bassoon especially at this point. I got it it several years ago. I just got the tenor a month ago. The bassoon means a lot to me for who got it for me (my grandparents, one of which isn't around anymore ) and also how much it has effected me as a musician and also in life in general.
  8. I just want One Piece back on Toonami, and I'll be happy. (I do mean the FUNimation dub, of course)
  9. Well, honestly I think that the Twitter thing was more likely just for show. I don't think they would have even gotten to the point of teasing the return of Toonami to us unless they didn't already fully intend on returning it. I could be wrong, though
  10. Well, saying "I am a Christian, because my mom is one" comes off a bit more like they believe solely because their mom does, or even worse only because their mom wants them to be one. Either way that's not really believing. I didn't want to infer that from their post, though as it's like just worded a bit odd and they really do believe for themselves. It's just that I know when I was a Christian as a child the very root of my belief was believing because others did. Like literally I thought that they all had some definitive reason to belief, so I was just following along even though I had no proof or reason to believe for myself. I thought they had some knowledge I didn't.
  11. Such beautiful architecture! They don't make architecture like that anymore. =( Anyway what I find to be really beautiful are ice storms and snow storms. However, photography can not properly capture the beauty of them for me. So I don't have any pictures.
  12. I have a really bad sore throat. Not so much at this exact moment, but it's been off and on for the past few days. =( I'm just really glad the migraine part of it is over.
  13. I understand. The term has been twisted around and that's what it is oftentimes used to mean these days. However, the fact of the matter is that if it is a sexuality, meaning it is about sexual attraction.
  14. Envy: Age: 23 Current location: Oklahoma What I want to be when I "grow up": Band director Favorite:: Car: Just give me one that works and has air-conditioning. I don't care much beyond that. Color: Pink. Band/Artist: Chicago Letter: I don't know... Number: 26 Sport: Marching band. Soccer team: I don't keep up with soccer. And if I substituted this for 'marching band', I'd give off which high school I went to. lol Day: Tuesday Animal: English Bulldog Instrument: Bassoon, Saxophone (except for Soprano), and Oboe/English Horn. Season: Winter Food: Pizza Video Game: Animal Crossing/The Sims Pony: Pinkie Pie Font: Anglo Text (the font I used for 'Bassoonist' in this signature)
  15. If you are physically attracted to cisgendered people and non-binary gendered people that is the actual definition of 'pansexual'.
  16. A (mini) pine tree. My pony stays tough and vibrant even through the toughest times.
  17. You are stereotyping atheism to a point I don't even understand. How in the world is it a hollow existence? Many atheists (such as myself) don't believe in any kind of afterlife. We live for this life. The one we know we have. If that is a 'hollow existence' I have the definition of those terms way off. I know I don't. It's the very opposite. Anyway, sorry about assuming you meant we had to believe in a higher power. It's just that I have a Christian friend who has said that same thing: "You have to believe in something", and he was referring to a higher power. I very much do believe in something to that effect - That the only life we have is our one here on Earth, and that we should make the Earth the best we can be for other people. And while we may not have any 'afterlife', the world keeps on turning after we pass away and others and their children (etc.) keep on living. Making the world better for them is what I 'believe'. But it's not a 'belief' in a religious sense, so it's strange to refer to it like that. So you don't need to be sad for the Atheists. You are stereotyping them in a way that I guarantee you the vast majority of the members who voted there if not all of them aren't anything like. BTW, I had never heard of auto-theism and what I posted was based off of what I found on Google. What it defined it as was self-worshiping, and I don't see how that's good at all.
  18. Auto-Theism? *looks up* So... You'd rather me be a self-absorbed self worshipper than to simply not believe that there is any such thing as a higher power? I'm not getting it. You are free to believe whatever you want, but not all of us have to believe in "something". I have been given absolutely no reason to believe that there is some higher power or purpose, and in fact the thought of there being either or both of those is actually quite disturbing to me. Obviously, that's not why I am an Atheist. I am an Atheist because there being a higher power just doesn't even make any sense to me given the way everything works, and there is no evidence at all for such a being's existence. There's no reason to believe for me. I don't see why I have to believe in something when it's so blatantly obvious to me in my world view that there is nothing of that sort.
  19. Favorite: The Last Round-Up. Really great episode. I loved the humor, especially when it included Pinkie Pie. The other two I really loved were May The Best Pet Win and Sisterhooves Social. Least Favorite: Really hard for me to say. There were a few that just didn't do it for me - The Mysterious Mare Do Well (too predictable and not really stand-outish), Cutie Pox (really barely remember it, and I remember not enjoying it as much) and Baby Cakes (I love Pinkie Pie, but in this episode she wasn't my favorite).
  20. I'd change my entire life 2007 and beyond. I'd have graduated university last year like I should have. And if I could change it, I would still be with my girlfriend from my second year of college. I don't know if that can or even should be changed (I'm no longer in love), and if not we'd have never entered the relationship and be best friends now instead. Before I get too much more personal I'll stop this. Lol.
  21. I'm not understanding how we could possibly believe that an ancient civilization could ever predict when the world would end to begin with. I'm just completely at a loss as how to anybody could actually believe that.
  22. Washington D.C., Southern California, and Indianapolis. Washington D.C. because I love history. It was fun to see all of the museums and all of the buildings in person. Southern California because it's just so different. I would never want to live there because I have to have cold weather and snow. However, it was interesting just because it was so different. The mountains were so pretty, and it was neat to get to go to a beach. I loved those tall palm trees, too! Indianapolis I say not because it's Indianapolis, but because that's where I go to go to perform in the national marching band competition. Because of how awesome that was I have to mention Indianapolis even though nothing else about the place was memorable. lol
  23. Feeling quite miserable (as in very sick). Just happy to be off from work now.
