  1. It all depends on what's inside that box, really. If it is something profound and final, we probably won't see past four seasons.
  2. I haven't heard it, myself. I'm going to wait until the episode is actually out before I hear it; I mean, imagine having heard Bad Seed before it came out, that song was awesome. Also, why is this season catering to shippers so much? Gah.
  3. As usual, I've posted my review of this episode. It can be found on my blog at http://www.sectussection.tumblr.com as per normal as well!
  4. I'm fairly certain at this point they're trying to canonize Rainbow Dash being homosexual.
  5. Based on what we understand so far, both episodes five and seven have to do with characters involved in the Apple Family. One could assume that these numbers indicate episodes featuring certain characters from that family, a plotline involving them, etc.
  6. I'm really eager to see this episode, honestly. I've been waiting for more Rarity-related material in order to form a better opinion of her character this season. Does anyone have predictions? Honest, I'm hoping to see her generosity shine in this one.
  7. I'd assume it looked different due to the older era they lived in. It's similar to the change in design of Victorian era castles. It was just a different aesthetic appeal back in those days.
  8. I'm starting to see a familiar trend with fans of this show, honestly: overreacting to 'big changes' made on the show. When Derpy was featured with a line in an episode, everyone freaked out. The same thing happened with Equestria Girls, and now this. Yet, funnily enough, every time has turned out fine. I think the fandom's weakness is their inability to relax and take things as they go. I admit, I was a bit put off by the idea, but it wasn't because she was becoming a princess. I was irritated because the season three finale was awful in my opinion. That finale convinced me that season four was going to be exactly like that, and it really, really bothered me. The season three finale was so rushed and poorly done, it seems like they wrote it as a series finale, rather than one for the season. Perhaps this is due to the fact that at the time the show was undecided as to whether it would continue or not, but still, I don't see that as a good excuse. For instance, what if it had been the series finale? What kind of outlook and final impression would an episode like that leave on the fans of the show? I understand that some people liked it, I really do, but I can't ever agree with those people. The show has produced better quality finales and episodes in general, and I think they were far more than capable of doing the same for season three. Here's hoping season four turns out to be just as awesome as its premiere!
  9. I'm not really sure how to feel about this season. The first two episodes were definitely far better than the third season's finale, but the third episode seems to be a bit 'meh' to me. I understand that it was important in the sense that it established a new device into the plot, the diary, for keeping friendship notes. I am under the assumption that this diary will be the new format rather than sending letters to Celestia. Also interesting is the changes they've made to the intro. I enjoy that they added Luna in at the end, and the only complaint I have is that Twilight doesn't have wings upon exiting the balloon. The continuity this season is really getting me pumped. Even in the third episode, they allude to events that happened in the first two, which alluded to episodes from season two as well. Pinkie Sense, for instance, was referenced in the premiere. I suppose all I can hope for is that Daring Don't is less stagnant than the third episode was. It just felt a bit stiff to me, and the shipping nods didn't help.
  10. Am I the only one that has a negative predisposition towards Applejack episodes since the Family Reunion one in Season 3? I'm not saying that it would be impossible for the show to have an episode that is good while also having her as the focal point, but based on previous trends you could understand why one would come to such a conclusion. In the past, we've seen her get outshined by a fan-made character, and have episodes that don't really have as much substance as one would hope to see. I just really hope that this 'Bats' episode coming up is a lot better than the title and brief description given present it to be.
  11. I am really uncomfortable with the fact that they included a shipping reference in this episode. I don't know what it is about the hoof comment, but it just seemed out of place, as if it were added solely for that tribute. My full review of the episode, though far less forgiving than my initial snipe, is one I stand by. The only thing I would change is my appreciation of Josh Haber's development of Fluttershy's character. For instance, when she is frightened or worried now, she worries for the safety of others, and not her own self.
  12. Yeah, why should we care about things like an overarching plot device and character development? We can obsess over miniscule, unimportant objects like scepters and make semen jokes about potion colors!
  13. You can tell the show is going to go on for quite a while when they start having the mane character go into other universes / worlds such as in the super hero episode. I'm really pumped up for that one in particular!
  14. So, what is everyone else's prediction on who the fanon pony that will be getting major attention is? I'm honestly not sure myself, but I'd be willing to say it is a toss up between Derpy and Vinyl Scratch. While it would be interesting to see Vinyl get an official voice, I'm not really sure. It would be nice to see Derpy in again, though.
  15. Honestly, what is the deal with the whole Twilight Scepter gag? You guys pick the weirdest things to fangasm about. No wonder people don't understand us.
  16. Personally, I just really enjoy Discord's new role as a background critic of Twilight and the mane six in general. While he was amazing as a manipulative, evil villain, it is interesting to see him in a more 'big brother' type light when it comes to the protagonists.
  17. For once I seem to fit in with the large majority of people when it comes to my opinion on the episodes. I was very impressed with this, honestly. My favorite part had to be seeing the old battle between Celestia and Nightmare Moon. I was sure there for a moment that vision was in the present. The following is my full written review of the episode, which the original can be found here: http://sectussection.tumblr.com/post/67973173418/mlp-fim-episode-review-princess-twilight-sparkle I tend to review every single episode of the show, and so far this is definitely my favorite season opener. It is a major improvement from what we were shown in the far less impressive season three finale. Meghan definitely has her work cut out for her, and I can only hope that the new staff writer (who just so happens to have written next Saturday's episode) can produce an episode just as good. For him, this is a crucial time. I don't give good first impressions easily.
  18. I think the best way to go for it would be having Sombra tempt her with knowledge. He knows from watching her for the past while that she has a keen interest in reading, knowledge, etc. so he could tempt her with learning new, albeit dark powers.
  19. I would be amazed if anyone on this forum picked any option other than the first.
  20. Honestly, I've had a good idea for the season opener for four for some time now. I know this idea has probably already been thought of by someone quicker than I, but I'd still like to state it. The basic setup would be Twilight beginning her rule as a princess. During her first few days, she notices odd little things such as cold spots, and random shadows around the castle. Eventually, she becomes hypnotized by what is revealed to be a surviving King Sombra in disguise. Under the control of King Sombra, she begins turning cruel toward her friends and the citizens of Equestria before using her newly acquired dark power to enslave the populace. Obviously, her friends notice this is strange, Applejack and Rainbow Dash are the most upset, and both refuse to believe that she has truly turned mad with power on her own. The focus changing from Twilight and going over to Rainbow and Applejack, the two become the figurative leaders of the remaining group of five. They plan to set out and fight Twilight, and somehow force whatever is possessing her out of her body. They are successful in this end, and King Sombra is revealed. Using the combined power of all six ponies reunited in friendship, they overpower Sombra and finish him off for good. *Shrug*.
  21. Objection! I believe there is a quote that was listed on the Wikipedia article for the show. It details that one of the Hasbro employees mentioned something about the show being a 'high priority' brand and that the show is set to continue for 'some time'. This piece of information would suggest that the show is pieced for at least one season further beyond four.
  22. Do we have any advance notice as to whether or not there will be seasons following this one? I know it may seem rather unneccessary to ask at this point, given that the season hasn't even started yet, but I feel like it would be best for me to get that question out of the way as soon as I can.
  23. Episodes two and three have been released since the last post. We appreciate any feedback you guys have on those two newer ones.
  24. I think the important part when judging the future success of the show is to take realistic boundries into consideration. Sure, the show has a massive following for one of its kind, but it isn't really a repeat of Star Trek in its fanbase. It just doesn't have that element required for it to become something that is molded into nerd history. The crippling part is that almost every guy can relate in some way to things like Star Wars or Star Trek. My Little Pony is a show that requires a very specific type of person to become a fan. Not everyone is willing to admit that the show is well designed; mainly for fear of being judged by their peers. Personally, I predict the show will go on for at least one more season (season four), possibly one after that, before it is retired. There will inevitably be someone that makes a spin off, or a generation five, in an attempt to revive the hype that this series had, but it will be devastatingly unsuccessful in this attempt. -Sec
