I have heard about that. Learned a lot about that term during English film class. Helps one enjoy movies more, if one does follow that rule.
And sometimes books are like that. There is little information, but we work with what we are given and soldier on
Well a lot of superstitious are written like that. Realism is not always a key in stories. Something we ourselves might do, others in a story might not do (because they are written to fulfill a purpose). When were the Lovecraft stories supposed to take place? It was a bit before the First World War, was it not? You could say that people were a bit more superstitious about things than they are today?

I get it I get it, just. It does probably well show how people back in the day would feel, and it may have been top tier back then.
Maybe I just need to try immersing myself more, context like you mention. But that's like trying to inhabit someone's mind who is paranoid. Hm.
What do others enjoy about reading it? Like in depth, psychology reasons why. Why do you enjoy it?
Like now I am imagining how people would think about Godzilla back in nomadic times. Its before sedentary societal dogmas exist, so they wouldn't worship it, I think they would 'respect' it because its powerful and maintain a distance, like any other wild animal, also involve some planning around which routes to avoid and to warn others of danger.
I think nomads could handle that existential matter far easier, because its not even relevant. The only thing that makes it relevant, is believing in malevolent forces like demons spirits or satan. People fear for their souls more than for their lives. Some pirate shows up to threaten you and can kill you people would be less upset than the mass confusion that goes on in hp lovecraft (I assume). Which means its their faith being fundamentally threatened in a way. Their religion says nothing about those things. I know lovecraft was an atheist tho.
*except the things which their religion warns against, probably. *nothing in-depth about those things. Or yeah, its like, an existential threat, maybe doesn't shake their faith, they just never expected such things, weren't prepared, never heard of it before, except exceptions, depends on story itself.
Actually nomads would prolly think of it akin to disease or rot, anything they recognize more as disgusting. Which means in a way lord of the flies does some of the same existential terror.

It might indeed. A lot of things in books like War of the Worlds does not make sense to us today. But then again, the book depicted another time, a time before both Great Wars, when we still had steamer ships and Ironclads, a very Victorian era time. Can't really compare my own view of things to those times.
Well, that is actually very fun. It is very fun to try to see things from another person's mind, to try and see their perspective, understand their fears. "Verstehen" if you would mind Max Weber's theory in sociology
I enjoy characterization, I enjoy the fear, the psychology, even if it does not make sense to me. But then again, how the mind things and understand things, is always completely different to the mind of another human being. What can we really say what is going on in somebody else's brain and how can we try to make sense of it? Sometimes it is fun to see someone who is not yourself and react differently.
They might probably do that. In more primitive times, we would not be so focused on bending all forces of nature to human will, unless we had the means to do so (and the mindset as well).
Lovecraft might have been trying to criticize religion there, to give a different perspective on it. But faith is a way to ease oneself and humans believe a lot of things. How we all think differently plays into that.

well I just had an online tweet convo with M.A Larson...that's a thing....

This site is going to have to come to grips with whether or not it will turn a blind eye to racism. I have seen some of the most vile takes being posted on this site, including blaming victim blaming George Floyd for his own murder. It makes me seriously question whether or not I even want to keep associating with this platform, which is a shame because I have been here a long time. Hopefully the staff does the right thing.

@WWolf That bullshit they pulled with Floyd having pre-existing conditions is part of the reason I have no faith in a just trial and expect the cops to get acquitted

Gonna be seeing Deadpool either today or tomorrow. Not sure which yet.

I'm just joshing you lol
X-3 WAS a terrible, incoherent mess of a film. Yeah they got the momentum aspect right in that movie, but they got his size and personality right in this one. Juggernaut is a laid back Bruiser who don't give af.
I think they portrayed him as much MORE of a threat in this one than in X-3. Yeah, Deadpool is more comedy centered than X-3 was, but when he did THAT to deadpool and performed those feats he was certainly more impressive than mr "I'm the juggernaut bitch" guy.
They also got the fact that he's Xavier's Brother in this movie, which was neat.
Also they REALLY need to make Excalibur a thing.
-
They did get Xavier as he's brother I'll give you that and yes they definitely need to make the Excalibur storyline ¦S
they have announced the dark Phoenix story coming as one of there next movies though (official) which would be good ¦)
I wonder if there do the Onslaught story and if so hopefully it won't be close to as messy as it was last time ¦)

Dragon ball super's animation quality, or lack there of, is extremely disheartening. Outsourcing animation hasn't done

The sad thing is in order to do it right they would need to take more than a week to make it, which would mean fans would whine about long wait times. You only need to look at Team Four Stars comment section to see that. Still I would rather an episode a month or two with decent animation than an episode a week with this lackluster childish art style.

A repetetitive / punishive job is the worst for the spirit. I understand that. Before, I was in the street without anything. I can imagine the pain.
Now, I need to go, but don't hesitate to contact me in my private message ou even Skype in my Profil.
We can talk about all of that. It's better that stay alone. 0/ Okay?

I am very indecisive for my oc. I found some ocs I wouldn't mind, but whenever its a static form I am dissatisfied. Each form has its ups and downs, and I want all ups of all forms at once with the ability to gain more ups over time. But that's excessively complicated for most people to follow. But this fic I am reading is so good, maybe I can borrow ideas from it, as their character building is more complex due to dimensional hopping crossovers with other fics.

I made mine based on aspects of my personality.
Squirrel Tail: ADHD
Ram Horns: I can be rather aggressive and butt heads with people
Billy G Gruff: Based on the story Billy Goats Gruff and how I like to troll trolls on occasion
Green eyes: My own eyes are green
Color scheme: Based on my Avatar, whom I relate a lot with
lack of a cutie mark: I have issues with Cutie marks as a concept, which is why I picked a non pony species.

I said it before and I'll say it again. MLPForums needs to decide what kind of people do they want on this platform. Do they want this to be an offshoot of 4chan racists, or do you want actually decent people on this platform. Cause every day this site turns a blind eye to racists on here is another day this site is condoning their actions.

Not really sure if theres racism here or people are just ....too sensitive? Other people have different cultures... Some culture think of like "small" racism (like calling dark skinned people black) is just a joke and nothing else. while some culture hates people calling black. In the Philippines we have a weird way of racism. We prefer or like/ to be half Filipino than to be pure... Because being half makes us more beautiful or handsome. But we don't consider it racism...i think.

Lol the EU is moving to Ban travel from the United States cause we're unbelievably stupid with how we're handling covid. Can't say I blame them.

I mean Japan didn't even close down, they all just wore masks like adults and Covid was handled easily, barely had any cases over there. Meanwhile our country is so stupid we have people who deadass think the masks that doctors wear all day at their jobs is somehow dangerous. Or even funnier, they think its some ploy FROM SATAN HIMSELF.

@EpicEnergy With the way things are going we're probably just going to end up elongating the first wave instead of getting a second wave. I live in California and things have gotten out of hand due to us reopening way to early :/
-
@Megas Things would probably be much better if people just listened by staying six feet apart and wearing masks. When you have everyone crowding the beach though, especially when many of them not following precautions, it just messes things up and the coronavirus spreads. It's even in places like Walmart where I'm at, with several people all in one aisle not keeping six feet apart and most of them not even wearing masks.

Another problem is people feel the need to bring their entire families everywhere, especially when some places need to limit how many people are allowed in a building. I went to Gamestop the other day and they only allow 9 people, but people are going around trying to bring their families of 5-7 people everywhere. Like you guys couldn't have just hired a sitter?
