  1. No, but I have a friend who does; she makes cosplays and fursuits on commission. Do you own a fursuit/pony suit?
  2. Loved it! All that was missing was a truce being called while the players work together to drop Tingle into the ocean!
  3. There's something no one's talking about that I really don't like about the series---it isn't quite bad enough to ruin it for me, but...well, it's how Ponyville's design is. It's very divorced from the visuals of FiM; most of the buildings that catch your eye look like they're either made out of food or decorated to look like food, and the ones that don't are so simplistic that they have zero believability. Sugarcube Corner being so close to the water (or is that a lake of pink lemonade??) that it looks like it could fall in any time...ugh. I mean, Sugarcube Corner wasn't near the water in FiM. The design being so simplistic makes it feel like there's no room for worldbuilding, and worldbuilding is one of the things I adored about FiM. Again---that isn't so bad it ruins it for me altogether, but the visuals are just...not my cup of tea, I guess.
  4. @Tacodidra I mostly agree with you, but I thought that the pacing and conflict in Best of the Worst was far, far better than the pacing and conflict (or lack thereof) in Princess Probz. It makes me wonder why they put Princess Probz first, since it was going to be the first impression of the whole series? Maybe because of the fanservice of Celestia loving cake and AJ breaking the 4th wall?
  5. I just saw the first two episodes of Pony Life, and...well, I thought Princess Probz wasn't very good, while Best of the Worst was actually pretty decent.

Princess Probz suffered from pacing problems and didn't feel like it had much of a conflict, and it almost entirely focused on Pinkie's zaniness, messyness, and clumsiness for slapstick comedy.  (But Pinkie wasn't clumsy or messy much in FiM, was she?)

Best of the Worst felt like it was better paced, with a decent opening that established RD's personality and motivations, and the episode had an actual plot and conflict to it.  It had some slapstick, but that wasn't bad, and didn't feel like it broke any characterizations from FiM.

I wasn't too keen on the overly-simplistic visuals that either episode showed; they made Ponyville look like it was made mostly of edibles with the occasional bite taken out of them.  With a lake of pink lemonade right next to Sugarcube Corner, no less.  (Was it even close to water in FiM?)

Also, because of the fast pacing, the characters don't get much characterization in Pony Life; it's like they're relying on FiM to tell us what their personalities are---and then they have changes to them, e.g. Pinkie being clumsy and messy, all of a sudden.  If it's not in continuity with FiM (and if you go by Ponyville's layout, then it's not), then the show should really be able to stand on its own without relying on another series to tell us what we need to know about the characters.

On the whole, I don't know how optimistic I should be about the Pony Life series in general.  I get the feeling that it's going to be mixed overall, and probably there'll be plenty of bronies saying "It's mixed at best".  But I'm planning to keep watching and following the new series, at least for the time being.

Makes me wonder what's going on in the Season 10 comic books...

Also thought Best of the Worst was actually pretty decent too

  6. Just finished that one, too. Applejack involuntarily face-hoofing got a small laugh out of me, I was a bit amused by the slapstick in the audition part. On the whole---I liked the pacing of FiM much better; this is way too fast for its own good. And the scenery---is this taking place on an island in the middle of an ocean of pink lemonade or something? We'll have to see how it develops and if it builds on itself; Pinkie Pie exploding and reforming is...weird. EDIT: I watched The Best of the Worst, and it felt like it was better-paced; RD went through quite a few emotions, and the flow seemed natural. I still miss FiM's depiction of Ponyville (not everything looked like food-with-bites-out-of-it there!), but at least it felt like there was real conflict and an actual plot; it didn't feel that way with Princess Probz.
  7. TBH, my favorite memory of the princesses is actually in the pilot, where they were reconciled after 1000 years of pain on both sides. Honestly, that amount of epicness and heart is probably what drew most of us into the brony fandom in the first place!
  8. /sigh

The Whinny City pony convention isn't going to take place, after all!  I'd spent a ton of money getting 800 physical buttons made to promote my fangame, too---and now I can't do squat with them this year!

      Sorry that happened to you.

      Yep.  It's the virus.

They're going to have Whinny City take place online; maybe-maybe I can find a way to get attention for my game in an online format---I dunno.  I guess I'll need to save the physical buttons for next year :/

      Rikifive

      Yeah...

Pretty much everything now happens online ~ won't be there any places to get some attention? That won't really solve the problem with physical buttons, but I hope you'll get a chance to use them eventually. :twi:

  9. Well, it doesn't want to reveal exactly what kind of spike I'll have---only when I'll have it: tomorrow afternoon. I'll keep you guys posted. EDIT: It's 313 per turnip this afternoon. Not bad, but not spectacular.
  10. I might have another high spike in turnip prices this week; it's not clear how things will go, but I'll keep y'all posted:
  11. Ahhhhh, the immortal classic The N64 Smash felt more like a playable experiment than a real game, at least in comparison to the polished wonder that was Melee. Though ti was an experiment that was fun to play and therefore a successful one. Melee established SO much: sword characters, balance changes, and of course this wonderful theme! Thanks for putting this together!
  12. My OC is a copy of the "Baloney" character from the Mr. Potato Head Show. The idea is that his magic allows him to transmute plant matter like fruit or hay into meat. This is actually useful because ponies keep non-herbivorous pets, and he works in a pet food store, doing custom transmutes for customers. (Pets can be picky eaters, or deserve a special reward.) I think I had an animation of him---let me see if I can find it...here it is: (EDIT: he's panting because he's overworked in this particular image; that black curve is supposed to be his mouth, and the red thing off to the side is his tongue...you should probably see an episode of the show to see why his chin is shaped like that.) Here's the Mr. Potato Head Show if you want to see the Baloney character for yourself:
  13. I was wondering how a legato instrument like the organ would handle the staccato notes at the beginning, but you navigated them masterfully! And the rest of the piece---hoo! The organ was practically INVENTED for this piece!
  14. Nice! I've never heard this song before, but it got me wondering: do you ever find yourself in church playing songs like these on the organ?
  15. Dracula, Benjamin Franklin, and Robin Hood felt so Oxygen-Deprived that they began to Sing. This caused the Sewer Workers to drop their entire supply of Scrap Iron so that they could retreat to the safety of The Mall.
  16. I found another option; I think I found you on my friends list, so I can use the Nook Shopping catalog to mail exercise items to you! I've sent you an exercise ball and an exercise bike already; I also have Upright Lockers in my catalog, but the only two colors I have are red and yellow. Speaking of, I've got a pull-up bar in my catalog as well, but the only colors I have are red and black. Which colors would you prefer? Or would you prefer both so you can have alternating colors of lockers, like they sometimes do in real life?
  17. There's a site that lets you look for other islands where people have high turnip prices: https://turnip.exchange/ I've listed my island there before, and also found islands where I can sell my own turnips when I don't have a spike in a given week. I think that either I need to meet you on your island via dodo code or you need to come to my island via dodo code to get listed on each other's in-game friends lists. When's a good time of day to set something like that up? I'm in the USA Eastern time zone.
  18. @Thuja ooo...sorry, I didn't read that until just now :/ Probably you'd better hop on Turnip Exchange! By the by...this is the second time I've asked this question, but there was someone on this forum who I'd promised some exercise equipment in-game. Was that you?
  19. There was a recipe my grandmother had that my family used to make every Sunday evening when I was yougner---we've since switched to pancakes, which cook much faster (even as an adult, we still get together on Sundays to eat togeter). These waffles are really fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and delicious all-around: 6 eggs 1/2 cup flour 1 cup cottage cheese 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon vanilla My family tended to make a batch and a half to feed two kids and two adults.
  20. It's 330 bells per turnip this afternoon. Nothing to complain about, but not spectacular. EDIT: The dodo code is LPMVF if anyone's interested.
  21. Well, this looks promising. It's a minimum of 183 (which is okay) to a maximum of 553 (which is excellent). I'll know noon USA Eastern time what the afternoon's price will actually be! @Harii Moxxiie @Thuja @Envy I'll open my island up for my in-game friends at noon, then after an hour or so, I'll get a dodo code. I plan to list it on turnip.exchange if it's a good price, but I'll let you guys have the dodo code.
  22. Four hundred ninety-four thousand Seven hundred and eleven! 494711
  23. If my prices spike above 500 again, I'll have such good luck with this random stuff, I'll be suspicious! ...I'll be glad, of course, but I'll be suspicious, too! I guess I'll have better data tomorrow morning about how big my spike will be; it might not turn out to be that impressive. We'll find out!
