Who/what OFFICIALLY reformed Discord?
Smokie-Horse replied to Leonard Smix's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Honestly, magic; the magic of plot convenience. Personally, I can see no reason why a being as powerful and troll-ilicious as him would just drop his awesomely fun way of life so that he can exchange some letters with a yellow and pink pony and not be turned to stone for a couple thousand years every now and again. Like, the end of that episode where he's at Fluttershy's cottage, he messes with them for a while and almost goes full Discord on everyone again and then changes his mind and embraces FRIENDSHIP at literally the final minute? It was just weird. And not Discord-weird, but what-just-happened-weird. -
With all the Photoshop horses flooding everything, I'd say you win by going with traditional pencils by default. Good job, mate. My personal favourite is Sweetie.

Season 5 Villain Predictions?
Smokie-Horse replied to JamesBobbyDReed's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I'd like to see a semi-sympathetic villain, preferably a male one at least as good as Discord in the character development department. Part of why they'd be hard to fight would be the characters' reservations about fighting them in the first place. Personally, I'd have someone take a stand against Celestia's more questionable decisions as a ruler. I mean, never in a billion years, I know, but that would shake up the protagonists a bit. -

general media Fantastic Fictional Characters!
Smokie-Horse replied to Tao's topic in Media Discussion
Of course, this is highly liable to change, but... Anime: Togusa (Ghost in the Shell). Maybe Howl. Comics: Wallace Wells. Games: Squigly. Favourite sharp dresser is Alucard. Cartoons: Rarity or Agent P. Books: the protagonist of whatever I'm currently writing. Do they have to be finished books? Fanmade: Sonichu. I regret almost nothing. Other fictional media: there are others? -

adventure Idea feedback: Lyra's cult of the sacred human.
Smokie-Horse replied to Mr. Critical's topic in Written Fan Works
Ooh, getting into college? Best of luck with that, friend. I think that the idea of Lyra standing alone as a powerful cult leader, potentially opposing to the strongest demon monster thing in their universe, would warrant at least a few thousand words of fanfiction. I approve. -
What would you like G5 to have
Smokie-Horse replied to Echo Narcissa's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I like the show for what it is, but what a great idea. I'd do three things: firstly, at least two decent-looking male main cast members that aren't babies or manbabies (don't have anything against them, I've just seen too many of them), villains that get good arcs and real respect and a consistent storyline that actually evolves, Avatar-style. And I'd completely reset the universe. Not with drastically different rules, but more like a hard fantasy.- 115 replies

humor "Funner" Isn't A Word, Imbecile
Smokie-Horse replied to ThisAccountIsDead's topic in Written Fan Works
It's my absolute pleasure! But, I'm afraid I'm not actually on Fimfiction right now (pathetic, I know) but that'll certainly be happening sooner or later. And I'll keep your offer in mind for when it does! -

A very interesting thread. For me it comes down to how they don't surprise me, and how they're basically impossible to defeat because they either have powers that make them undefeatable, or they can grow new powers that allow them to win instantly, or they have ridiculously helpful friends that can win anything for them. Basically, as a guy who likes his villains, I don't like OP heroes. But there's really nothing wrong with a Mary Sue. It's just a type of character, and like any other type of character, there are good Mary Sues and bad Mary Sues. Like Harry Potter; most people agree he's a decent character, despite being pretty perfect when you think about it.

Theory Celestia has a dead sister theory.
Smokie-Horse replied to ScarfaceOne's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Metal Gear, Warhammer 40k, Fallout, MLP...it's like I start enjoying a franchise and the canon immediately turns inside-out. For a while I figured that the Two Big Girls having a dead sister/brother would be the only way to explain how they supposedly have great-great-great-times-whatever nieces/nephews, so yeah, I like the idea, but that got me thinking about Alicorn biology and genetics, so I stopped thinking about it. I guess that we could just call Celestia's family tree "complicated" and move on. -
I usually really, really, really hate this kind of joke, but it goes like this, roughly translated from my memory: 'So there's a comedian who uses a puppet to deliver his punchlines, and he's performing his routine in front of a huge audience. Things are going well, until his puppet "makes" a blonde woman joke, and to his shock, one of the members of the audience - who's a well dressed, blonde woman - stands up and begins to talk. 'The woman clearly informs him that all her life she'd had to deal with people assuming things about her because of her hair colour. She says that she puts up with insults, has been labeled as stupid, and has even been turned down from jobs just because, she feels, she happens to be blonde. And she says that this is all because some people think it's funny to say that certain people are dumb. The comedian suddenly feels extremely guilty, and attempts to apologize; but the talking woman interrupts him, stating: "Stay out of this, mister! I'm talking to that little scumbag on your knee!"

What's your favourite piece of Soviet military hardware, friend?
-
I'm going to agree with everything you just said by default (facts of the matter and horrible tragedy aside) because your signature pic is the most beautiful thing I've seen today. Anyhow, since people have said a lot of fairly true things here, all I'll say is that I'm a little cautious about how some people romanticize Russia a lot these days. I mean, don't get me wrong, Russian culture is one of my favourites in the world, I geuninely respect the tenacity and dignity of the Russian people, I love their utterly amazing hats and military uniforms and when I play Red Alert I only ever Soviet. Because why the ad would I be anyone else? But all this talk of Stalin being a total bro and how "Movfer Russha iz da bst kuntry eva lol" are kind of missing out on how some bad things have happened there that no-one should forget about. Just like how the bad things that America, Britain and just about every country ever did and still do shouldn't be forgotten about. It's just I've been seeing an awful lot of Sovietophiles (and not the kind that actually do the Soviet Union justice), enough for me to kinda notice and raise an eyebrow, even compared to other countries' fanboys. And I don't know about Putin. All I'll say is that I'm glad he doesn't know I exist.

Dark Crusade. Nostalgia aside, Taldeer's voice is just so much more significant to me now.
