Simple. Fluttershy was actually making a kind statement, if somewhat naive, as is her nature. Whereas Pinkie has been shown not to be so naive, and yet screams at Fluttershy in a very unkind way regardless. They're simply not comparable.

She's the only real "foil" character in the whole show, so that's nice.

Maybe I should have been more clear. The idea is that we know Princess Twilight Sparkle is the second Summer Sun Celebration that we've seen (not counting Twilight's flashback). The disagreement is in whether this is truly the subsequent SSC after the premiere, or if other years have silently passed in between.

Well, we already know that ponies can be ascended by Celestia for next to nothing and that alicornification has no meaning or consequence. Soooo yeah, literally any or all characters could become alicorns and it wouldn't make the slightest difference.

Rainbow Dash denies that she got kicked out of flight school, remember! We don't know the details about that. And if you ask me, it would make a spectacular episode. Dash finds out she can't possibly become a wonderbolt if she hasn't graduated flight school (a much better excuse for her not being able to join than what we've been given) and has to go back. Not only would it show us a lot more about Dash herself, but it would be able to show what really happened between Dash and her flight school all those years ago. Why would the bullies think she got kicked out and yet Dash denies it? Chances are neither of them is lying, and the truth is much more interesting than that. Buuuuuut I'm pretty convinced the writers forgot about that rather important character bit, and she'll be a Wonderbolt before they even remember she never graduated flight school.

I've heard this a million times, and no one has ever been able to explain why they think it's getting more mature rather than the more "for babies" attitude that I get from it. Note that "complex morals" is not an explanation unless you can at least provide examples. Okay please keep in mind that this is not meant as an insult, but how is that not the same as saying "You just need to lower your standards to enjoy it, ignore the flagrant problems and focus on THE FEELS"?

This is purely headcanon, but I theorize that they have some inborn connection to emotions. They seemingly change color and stuff based on their emotions, and the Crystal Heart is able to channel and concentrate all of their emotions. Also, ever think of how odd and unfitting it is that given the other alicorns, there's a princess of love? Well, they say that alicorns possess the racial qualities of "all three" races, but I think Cadence, being the crystal princess... somehow, has unicorn, pegasus, and crystal pony traits instead of earth pony. This sets her apart from Celestia and Luna, giving her both her unique appearance and magic.
