Dreambiscuit replied to Reecejackox's topic in General Discussion
Yes, I do have imaginary friends; all of you lovely folks. -
general How often do you check your email?
Dreambiscuit replied to ExplosionMare's topic in General Discussion
I check my primary email pretty much every day unless I decide not to use the computer. But I have a few secondary (thirdary, fourthary and fifthary) accounts I often forget about.- 42 replies

I like it blisteringly hot, but not humid. If it’s humid I prefer sub-zero temps.

What did you do with your day?
Dreambiscuit replied to Mare in the Moon's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely NOTHIN’! And I couldn’t be happier. I guess technically I took out the trash, but that’s all. I had leftovers for dinner so that was easy. I didn’t even do any art projects. I just watched TV with my peeps. -
I’m a girl, but under my dark chocolate exterior I do have a creamy filling. So yes-ish.

No, I don’t sing in the shower. I don’t sing anywhere if there are other humans within earshot. I used to sing up a storm in the shower when I was little, but not since I was old enough to realize what I sound like. So my showers have gone silent. You’re welcome.

What do you think you will be doing in an hour?
Dreambiscuit replied to Reecejackox's topic in General Discussion
I'll be rushing to get things done because I'm spending time here messing around instead of getting things done. -
@Berry-Bliss-Sundae, @CheeryFox, @Sunny Fox, @SparklingSquirrels, @TheRockARooster, @Tacodidra, @FizzyBubbleTea. So many cool ones but I can’t think of them all right now.

I bought this little watch with Japanese Kanji numbers.

^Spoilers ahead* The TIE Avenger is there. Saw Gerrera hasn’t shown up yet though, but it’s still early in the season. We should see some interesting stuff when the next three episodes drop this week. I think the E-wing was in season 1. As far as the NFL draft, I recently watched the movie ‘Draft Day’ but that’s the extent of my familiarity with it. It was a good movie but I don’t follow the draft in real life. I don’t understand football as a rule so I couldn’t comment intelligently.

Hey, I want a Subway reward too! I feel ill-used! Lol The current painting does center on a human subject, so yes, I guess it’s a portrait. I’m still trying to figure out the complicated background though. -
Since it isn’t specified if this applies to movies or stage, I’ll just run with a little of everything. Beauty and the Beast (1991 movie AND Broadway version), Gypsy (original Broadway version with Ethel Merman), Camelot (original Broadway version with Julie Andrews and Richard Burton), The Music Man, Showboat, Guys and Dolls, (Jack Jones and Kim Crosby), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Sound of Music (movie version). I know I’m overlooking a zillion more contenders, but this list is a good start.

I know there are a lot of credit rolls with mid and post-credit sequences, but I’m going to opt for the subtler inclusion of Darth Vader’s iconic breathing at the end of The Phantom Menace credits. It gives such a tantalizing reminder of things to come, in contrast to the innocent beginnings of Anakin Skywalker in that first prequel episode. Okay, maybe I’ll toss in Chris Evans’ rant over the end creds of Deadpool & Wolverine. He really cuts loose and I admit it made me laugh.

Andor (season 2, eps 1-3). I love the first season of Andor and consider it among the few Disney Star Wars properties worth watching. But so far I have mixed feelings on season 2. I love the characters and the storylines already set in motion in season 1, but this new season, so anxiously awaited and long in coming should have started out with a much clearer story and a lot less filler. The story arc on Yavin 4 was absurd, with a group of squabbling idiots (whose part in the overall story remains vague at best) deciding, after a long in-fighting standoff , to settle matters with a pitched battle of rock, paper, scissors. I mean, come on, this is Jon Favreau territory here. The rest is hit and miss, with some material decidedly unsuitable for a Star Wars story, presented in a far too graphic manner. The rumors suggest that the middle episode blocks, in the weeks to come, are vastly improved, so I’ll just hope for the best.

Michelangelo for me. He’s the most fun, and his bandana is orange; my favorite color.

mega thread Last Movie You Watched?
Dreambiscuit replied to GrooveBroove's topic in Media Discussion
Jaws 2 (1978) A really solid sequel to a great original film. The fact that they cared enough to get John Williams to reprise his score with lots of great new material says they cared about making a better than average sequel, and that’s what they got. I’d pay to see this one just for the score, but everything about it is strong and entertaining. 8/10 Cable Guy (1996) *Spoilers ahead* Really funny and insane; Jim Carrey at his unraveled best. The man has no shame, and that translates into some great comedy, well-directed by Ben Stiller. Matthew Broderick plays a good straight man and Owen Wilson has a great scene playing a totally phony jerk who ends up the butt of some bathroom humor. This movie plays best for those who remember the many classic TV shows it references, but it’s still funny regardless. I know the ‘message’ of the movie is that too much TV rots the brain, but in the end, when all the TVs go out and one would-be viewer is shown reaching for a book instead, as though the cure for this TV malady has been rediscovered, it fails to realize that books are no less mind-rot than TV. Both deliver stories made to transport viewers from their day-to-day lives and only differ in the format they use to do so. Only bad media rots the brain, and what’s good or bad is really up to the viewer to decide. 7.5/10 Draft Day (2014) An engaging movie about, you guessed it, Draft Day for the NFL. I didn't expect much when I started watching it but it kept me interested all the way through. Not bad and actually somewhat exciting. 7/10 -

I already posted in this thread about my closest brush with the great beyond. The only other one that came close was when I passed out in my parents’ kitchen from what was later ‘guessed’ to be bronchial pneumonia. My dad tried to slap my face to wake me up but I didn’t feel it. And all I saw in my unconsciousness was the silhouetted figures of two of my most beloved people (residents of a far greater world) coming toward me. The images may have been the leftovers of a dream I was having before I got out of bed a short time earlier because I don’t think I was dead; just deeply out-cold.

I spent three years learning Japanese then dropped it after my trip to Japan had to be cancelled. I was at a low/intermediate level with a decent basic vocabulary and foundation in Kanji. Most of it is gone now from lack of practice and continued learning, but I’m trying to get back into it again. I hate having to re-learn everything I already learned before I can add anything new, but it’s unavoidable. At least this time I know what learning sources work best and which ones I can avoid. The worst part is that I can no longer afford to go to Japan, so I don’t have that motivation anymore, and motivation is the most necessary element to learning a new and difficult language. We’ll see how it goes.

Travelling; anything that gets me out of the apartment and changes my routine in stimulating new ways. Art; creating my own or enjoying the work of others. Art elevates life and gives me peace. Watching a movie with my family; nothing better than being transported away with a good story shared with loved ones. Exercise; it’s fun to work up a good sweat and feel all tired and peaceful afterward, knowing I’ve done myself some good and felt good doing it. Toy shopping; I like toys, I admit it. I enjoy meandering through collectibles shops and finding cool and interesting little doo-dads for sale. Stargazing; nothing more peaceful than losing one's self in the infinite. Trying anything new; food dishes, unusual destinations, fresh experiences and adventures of all kinds. New and wonderful worlds abound everywhere; finding them and sometimes pressing the boundaries (within civil and moral bounds) can be a special treat.

Sure I have one. One of these days the kid I borrowed it from is gonna want it back.

I don’t like eating ice cubes; they’re too crunchy and hard to enjoy. Not to mention they have no flavor. I like shaved ice though; nummy and full of chemical additives.

What did you do with your day?
Dreambiscuit replied to Mare in the Moon's topic in General Discussion
I continued with the week-long process of helping my mom clean out and rearrange her storage unit. We do this once a year so I always think it’ll be quick and easy, but as usual I was wrong. But I intend to get back to painting tomorrow (hopefully) and more of a normal routine. -
sports Did you play any sports as a kid?
Dreambiscuit replied to Snoopy Fan's topic in General Discussion
Nope. I was, and still am, terrible at sports of all kinds. I guess I can swim, but that’s about it, and I’ve never done it in competition or any ‘official’ capacity; just for fun. -

I'll resume work on it tomorrow night if all goes well.
