They tried, but unfortunately it will forever be remembered for being so bad it's good quality. At least it's better than Double Rainboom for that.

but no. cartoons/anime/whatever for a young audience tend to stay in the same style so that they kids can identify with them. apparently change is uncomfortable for them- just think of blues clues and steve

Of course, my problem with it is if the OOC is...bad. Whenever Fluttershy screamed at those animals during the Gala? OOC. Was it bad? Nope.

Even we as humans act OOC sometimes. It isn't a bad thing unless it's doing bad in of itself - and if it's causing harm and goes against how we've seen them act in the past, I think it's a fair criticism.

Well, while it may be used in some regard, living humans do not have a solidified defined character as do the denizens of the literary world.So we cannot really act "out of character" as sapient beings our character is ever evolving and changing. And it is a very, very commonly used criticism seen in both video and written fan reviews.
