  1. *Rubs back of own head* Yeah...I kind of did misread that. Anyways, don't be afraid to mention MLD for fear of haters. Yes, people do have their opinions on the story, but you won't see "haters" here. I can't find the image on Google, but insert the image here of the Mane 6 captioned with "You came to the right neighborhood, friend." Well, thanks for your view. I'll keep that in mind...
  2. I figured the story was MLD, and don't worry, I love that story too. In fact, it's the reason I became a brony (but that's another story for another time). You mentioned two fanfics, though, so what was the other one?
  3. First, yes PoE is "Ponies on Earth". Secondly, thanks for your word on the topic! Lastly, care to elaborate on those stories you mentioned? I'd love to read some (although I have an idea what the second one could be).
  4. Okay, good. I have a folder on my desktop with a lot of bookmarks for sources including news articles, studies, and a few Reddit articles (the Reddit articles are mainly posts from haters to be used as evidence that they're, at times (more often than not to be clear), insane people. I have some really good ones, including one where a "game" was being developed that would delete the "player's" system32). Is it bad that I have that I have a lot of articles for a presentation I might never do?
  5. MLP Forums, MLP music, FiMfics, watching some episodes of the show. You know, standard stuff. I'm going to try to get more people into the herd this dry season, though.
  6. In light of a recent post made in Sugarcube Corner (http://mlpforums.com/topic/49242-the-fandom-and-its-downfall/), a question resurfaced in my mind that I've been wondering about for a while now. What's the general consensus on HiE fics? Same with PoE ones, does anyone actually like them? I've been under the impression that it's commonly looked down upon, but I personally like the stories a lot. In fact, to be completely honest, they're my favorite category of the stories. But what do you guys think about them?
  7. Okay, the guy was overreacting and, ironically, being fairly obnoxious himself. I'll let it slide that he didn't like MLD or "Cupcakes", after all everyone has their opinion, but the constant slur of obscenities made me take him about as seriously as Fox News. Also, I actually like a lot of HiE stories. I can't be the only one.
  8. I just read about the game development team receiving a "Cease and Desist" letter. Dangit Hasbro, why are you killing a fandom you created?
  9. I still remember when I read that story. Key word being "still". My best suggestion for forgetting about it is to read something that isn't disturbing. You know, maybe a few sad fics (MLD comes to mind), or just some happy/funny ones (I'm sure browsing FiMfiction for a few minutes will help you).
  10. Whoa. Didn't see that the first time. It's cool that we finally get to see a glimpse of Dash's father. I was always wondering what he looked like...
  11. I haven't seen any Fluttershy horror other than "Pattycakes", which I refuse to read after hearing about it. I have seen horror fics involving Fluttershy, however, like a "Cupcakes"-esque story where Rarity used her for dress materials. But ones where she's the killer? Nope.
  12. I haven't read Cheerilee's Garden, but in the back of my mind I kind of want to, but I'm a bit sensitive for that stuff. I have already read "Cupcakes" and "Rainbow Factory", and the former was the more disturbing for me, but they didn't even compare to "The Experiments of Twilight Sparkle". That story was just messed up on multiple levels. I'm curious, has anyone else read that story? And if so, how does it compare to "Cheerilee's Garden"? Also, is "Cheerilee's Garden" really that bad?
  13. This is a hard one. As musicians, I'd prefer Octavia as I'm a fan of classical music more than electronic, but as characters, they're pretty equal to me, even though they are just background characters, but they seem cool, and their fandom personalities are both good in my eyes, so in that respect I couldn't really choose. Tl;dr: For music, Octavia. For character, either.
  14. I haven't necessarily been depressed by not watching the show (in fact I'm a bit behind right now), but I would say the show has definitely had an impact on my life. I think a fair bit about the show and it's characters daily, amongst other things, so I would say the love grows.
  15. I don't consider myself a resident there (although I wish I were), but I do share some characteristics with the characters on the show, so I guess that's close.
  16. The only problem is that all my friends are haters (except for one, but she's the one I mentioned in the post, and look what happened to her). I'm working on one of them, as I've proven him wrong before on something he hated until he played it, and now he loves it, so I have a little hope. What you've said may very well be my only chance if things go like I predicted, but I'll work something out if it does.
  17. I've already found a large collection of articles, but the problem is twofold here. First, they'll disregard all the articles I find as unreliable sources regardless of where they come from (they'd turn on their own news station if they didn't agree with it). Secondly, they would see me finding these articles as being obsessed over the topic, which would only hurt my cause. As for showing them the documentary, the scene where someone explains bronies are the result of 9/11 and people not able to deal with reality would hit them harder than anything there. They'd purposely look for bad things then blow them out of proportion. I appreciate the offer, though. It wouldn't be too hard. They require complete submission, after all, so they'd just demand my phone and block the sites off with a code. They're really tech-savvy, needless to say.
  18. It was in a conversation over why the show is good, and they were saying it's still a kid's show, of not one specifically for little girls. For a little context on the conversation, it occurred while I was asking about getting an RD plushie (keep in mind this happened the day right after Christmas). They then proceeded to tell me about how it wasn't "age appropriate" to get one and brought up the example of a friend of mine (not a pegasister), and how she'd react if she saw it in my room. Of course I was left giving silence, not sure what else to say at that point, honestly. They then compared it to Sesame Street and asked what my reaction would be if I saw a friend of mine (not a brony either) with a bunch of Sesame Street plushes in his room. I said I wouldn't judge him for it, and they just responded with something along the lines of "fine, but that's just you." They think by comparing it to the very little kid's show "Sesame Street", they can compare it to MLP. The worst part is they actually believe it, and use it like it's a realistic argument. They seem to like hating it, even to the point where I might classify them in a similar as the hater trolls on the Internet. They joke about it annoyingly and never will agree to disagree. What really bothers me is when they wonder why I'm rolling my eyes when they're blasting their music through a speaker in our living room/kitchen area. I just think to myself, "Gee, let me think..." Then they're off watching their own shows that they give chances and come at with open minds. One word: hypocrites.
  19. Heck yeah, man. We're a team and a family, and we look out for each other. This basically sums up the reason that this fandom is so different from the others: friendship. There's a high focus on respecting others and the harmonic elements that allow for friendship to proceed, and I've never seen anything even close in any other fandom. Forget the art, stories, videos, charities, and everything else, and that one fact remains that easily sets us apart.
  20. *returns hug* "It is a good song. It really is." The only thing that makes me look differently to their thinking of the older generations is that my dad claims he's seen some of the show, and when I asked for further information, I didn't receive any. I'm not sure what to think on that... Also, I did show them a trailer for the show someone made, and to quote their exact words, they said that it looked like "Lord of the Rings for kids."
  21. I don't know if they see it as a sign of the apocalypse, but they definitely don't approve of it. Yes the show does teach high morals, but my parents retorted with "so does Sesame Street." In other words, there's no convincing them. Like I said, I'll try to bring more people to the fandom. It probably won't change their opinion on it, and I'm sure they'll always be ignorant and judgmental, but I'm sure one day they'll see I was right. On a side note, I remembered being told a while back I shouldn't be in the fandom because my friends aren't. The problem is that it's a no-win situation because if no one likes it but me, they won't approve of it, but if I name off the people who like it as proof, then they are bound to call all their parents and have them talk to their kids about it. Like I said, there's no convincing them. They believed one slanderous article about bronies and constantly reference it as their main source, except they say "multiple articles". I swear, the ignorance is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Thanks!
  22. As of two days ago, I've been in the fandom for a year. I celebrated that day in my own way, but then later thought over how much everything in my life has changed because of the fandom. Because of this fandom, I took an interest in writing, learned to be a bit more confident and to not care what others think, and most importantly, I was reminded that you can't judge a book by its cover. I know I'm not much of a veteran to the fandom, but I wanted to give a shout-out to all the bronies out there. Whether you're open or quiet about your love for ponies, whether you have hater, non brony, or even brony friends, I'm giving a salute to you all for being willing to stick with something that at first seemed strange, but is so much more than what it appears to be. My current situation hasn't been the best, but I believe that the majority of one's situation can be determined by his/her own self. So I'm working at it, trying to improve things. I feel I'm getting somewhere, even if the odds seem stacked in the opposite team's favor. There's no doubt in my mind that one day my parents will remember my involvement in the fandom and will bring it up again for one final conversation. I'll hold my ground and make a final stand, but I doubt I'll get anywhere with them. After this, they'll most likely block off anything MLP (this site, FiMfiction, even Fanfiction.net and YouTube, you get the idea) from our Internet and my phone, as a friend of mine had happen to her. If this does happen, however, know that it won't be over. I will find a way to continue my involvement in the fandom, and will try to bring more people to it as time goes on. It won't be over, not by a long shot. So once more I give my regards to the bronies out there, and encourage you to brony on in whatever way you do it. Brohoof to all, and I hope to keep in touch. /)
  23. I...uh...fourth that? Kill the stickers, burn them with fire until they are ashes. Hurry, before they lay egg stickers and make more abominations.
  24. The only difference is that I hardly ever bring the show up ever because it's always the topic of hate and mockery around these people. By the way, one of these friends, a girl, saw the older gens of MLP and that's what she's based it off of. What would you have said to that person?
  25. I haven't had any experience in roleplaying, so I can't really say anything about it. As for the art, literature, music, and overall community, it's excellent, and I can't decide a particular part that I like more than the rest.
