Are we killing bronydom?

As the title suggests, I believe that we are killing the fandom!

Now obviously you look at this title bewildered as to what I mean, Let me explain...

Google anything with "My little pony" after it, and you will arrive on thousands of images of the subject ponified. I have no complaints about the creation of fan-art and I have created some myself, but bronydom used to be something special! Now its everywhere. After a few rounds of my favourite video game on Xbox Live, I discovered that people are tiered of ponified everything. It kinda irritates me aswell. Using "kinda" irritates me even furthur. I just think that we should slow down that ponification of the internet! What do you all think?

EDIT: Everyone, good point well made. Sorry for the bother.

We'll in all reality is that when people start to believe in something in things and this case it's MLP and like it. And get too far into where they think of it to be a religion then they're being fucking stupid.. I'm sorry to say that but how some "Bronys" act is pathetic.. When people make bullshit, they start to believe in their own bullshit.

I think it's just something that's still experiencing it's spike of popularity, and by nature is doomed to calm down later on.

But, you gotta realize, in some ways the bigger it is and the longer it stays, the more long-lived it relatedly should stay. If MLP had only a few fans, there would be so much less depth of the fandom to keep a number of people interested in staying.

Yes, there is a lot of stuff out there, but honestly there are areas (fan games especially) where I still want more.

In some ways, we're making our fandom more visible and abundant, which may translate into being annoying to some, or overkill to others. But, each new image adds potential for the fandom and contributes something new for each fan to experience, so in that vein... I like how big MLP has gotten, though theoretically it may do better if it was less scattered across the web and more kept within brony-related sites to a larger degree.

That's like saying raccoons are killing raccoons for being raccoons.....

This is about men or women* that aren't children that like pony's..not racoons..

Raccoons have feelings too...

And they're terribly cute and mean.

But I mean it... I do have to say if we're not careful police eventually will be looking at us as child molesters.. anyone may say that's not possible.. but the images that popped up when my friend searched Big Mac to get a picture from McDonalds to photoshop it.. at school... isn't pleasant.

you know who kills the fandom? the brainiacs "Know-It-Alls" grammar Nazi passive aggressive douchebags that don't cuss yet disrespect you anyways... THOSE are who give this fandom a bad name "pardon me" for being blunt (sorry but not sorry)

as for the ponification, that's legit the coolest thing I've seen, I'm actually sad that they don't have the same thing for Adventure Time... it would be nice to have my facebook like the Land Of Ooo for once XD so then I can vary it between the two (switching back to MLP then back to AT) and if they add a batman, pokemon, yu gi oh, nyan cat, or/and a tato theme then wonderful! we need variety and imagination. All I can't stand are the type of douchebags I mentioned above for obvious reasons, which in fact are basically 40% of the fandom and there's also that 10% who are more aggressive but I'd rather deal with the aggressive ones that actually show their true selves and what they have inside, than a passive aggressive douche that disrespects me in a "polite" way. BULL it doesn't matter what you say or how you say it! it's the INTENTION behind it what matters and some people are just plain evil. I can't trust people like that.

If anything, the super hugbox zealot fan morons, are what's killing this fandom, like any other fandom. They throw fits over opinions, get made if you don't agree with their ideas, think everyone is a hater that say anything different then what they expect on their ideas, and act like everything they say is canon material.

police can't really accuse people of child molestation just because they like a cartoon.

In short, no, we're not.

Fandoms will have overzealous fans like @Zhortac just described - no exceptions. Trekkies, Star Wars Folks, Whovians...they all have overzealous fans like that, and they've managed the last entire decades :D

As for ponification, I don't see how that's hurting the fandom itself, just irritating the people who aren't in the fandom. If that bothers them, that's their problem - it's just as easy to ignore ponifications but they opt to acknowledge them. So that's not hurting our fandom's activity, it's only hurting outside opinion. Which, actually, helps our fandom grow stronger. I discovered bronydom by seeing bronies getting bashed for their interests - and I know others discovered the show and fandom the same way. The more attention we get, whether good or bad, is going to make our fandom grow larger.

Any publicity is good publicity, or so they say :D

Okay so let me get this straight you think we are killing the brony fandom because it is too big? Um okay, I guess by that logic the Star Wars and Star Trek fandoms should have died decades ago then. I find it hard to take all these people seriously who say that bronies are forcing the show on them because you find a lot of ponified/crossover stuff, yes there are annoying bronies who try to push it on people but I hardly see how running into a few pics with ponies in them is the same as that. I think this picture pretty much sums up how I feel about this.

Is zealot a word for Religion? or something else in that case I've never heard of that.

It can be, but it also has a definition of being overbearing, self-centered, egotistical, arrogant, and crazy. Basically, the type of people that would want to kill you, if you said ANYTHING against their ideas. You can even say, "well, that doesn't make sense", and they'd want to strangle you.

Well, may be.

My friends who knew for few years about me beeng a brony, began to complain to me that they see ponies everythere, in the games, on all types of forums. My country got it's own social network and bigest Brony community in it got almost 90k members, ofc it's causing big impact over internet and irritates people outside Bronydom.

Good or bad??? GOOOD or BAAAAD??

When there are young kids who want to talk about the show and find Narcissistic/Crazy/Mentally unhealthy adults how is that GOOD? Hasbro doesn't care cause they'll get money either way. But people are letting the show physiologically mess them up because they're putting their life into the damn show(In a bad way meaning that religion shit) how is that good!

That's not just bronydom, that's the majority of the internet - and kids that age shouldn't really be on those/these parts of the internet, anyway. That's why most brony-based sites, or actually, most sites on the internet in general, have a 13+ rule.

I was about to type something.. until I noticed your signature "He who is positively obsessed with all things rarity" you even make all your posts in Rarity's color. Obsessing over something isn't healthy... but I won't argue or talk about this subject any further if someone does want to talk with me PM me or talk to me on skype.

Hows creating art and ponfied artwork killing the fandom exactly?

Now I know it can get tiring to see, but that doesn't mean the fandom is dying, if all else it means the fans still love it and still support it. Creative bronies show their love of the fandom by creating artwork...if there wasn't artwork then YES the fandom would be dying.

I'm just a silly little alicorn, trying to get by in the fandom ^^

It is not, but exactly what do you expect us to do about it? The brony fandom isn't some kind of hivemind with a queen that can magically make everyone behave or else and neither is any other fandom. So many people have these incredibly unrealistic expectations of the brony fandom in particular and seem to forget something called human nature which is simply that there are crazies and jackasses in everything. The only people that can protect kids from that is their parents.
