>Implying that its a thing now

I've had this marked on my calendar for ages, brah.

Surprising to find someone that not only likes Time Bomb, but doesn't  bitch at the fact that it's not Demolition Hammer.

It was one of the first thrash albums and bands I heard. My uncle had a few of their CD's in his old apartment.

Tortured Existence is still my favorite.

You're a big grind kind of guy, eh? Djenty's got some good grindcore like these guys. (Before you comment Djenty, yes, I do take your bands recommendations and advertise them as my own.

I've always liked Gorefest but I didn't know that there was a such thing as death 'n roll. Hard rock influenced death metal. Is it just me, or does anyone else find that pretty funny?

Oh yeah, I never really listened to too much death 'n' roll. I always loved that term though, pretty fun to say.

Pretty sure this was the first death 'n' roll song I listened to. I love this opening riff, so heavylicious.

Does anyone here know anything about Lamb of God? I like the song "Laid to Rest" and I kind of want to listen to more of them, but I'm not quite sure where to start. I suppose I could just listen to the album that this song is on.

Getting into Lamb of God now are we RD?

That's some good stuff

Unfortunately I don't really know Lamb of God too well

Though the best idea would be to buy the album with that song

Since I think that most of the other songs sound like Laid to Rest

Lamb of God is pretty good, though I haven't heard enough to really recommend much. Sorry RD.

I just listened to Forging a Future Self for the first time in way too long of a time. Such a good album.

I love the guitar parts on this one. During the chorus, they even give off a happy-ish vibe.

Also, Misery Signals because Misery Signals.

Shit I'm late, but I really like LoG. If you liked Laid to Rest, you'll probably like their 2006 album, Sacrament, or the Ashes of the Wake. It just seems to kinda mesh with that song, you know? So yeah, it would be pretty good to start with those two albums. Laid to Rest just sounds a lot more like a track that fit in better with Sacrament.

Wrath is probably my favorite, and you'd probably like that one too. Just a bit faster, heavier, and tuned half a step lower at Drop C#. Then again, that's three albums already. To me, all the albums have their own highlights. That, and their 2012 album Resolution have some pretty neat guitar stuff too, if you're into that.

They're far from being a death metal band, but their first release kinda has some death-ish influences. But Randy does some really interesting vocals in that album. You can barely understand him. Unfortunately, he doesn't do that stuff anymore. Still kinda worth checking out, just not a lot like "Laid to Rest".

All right dude, thanks a lot for the info!

I listened to about half of Ashes of the Wake earlier and it seems pretty good. That first song you posted seems really great, I'll probably check out that album too. The other song was pretty cool too.

Sodom, I'm currently digging Sodom at the moment. I dig the crunchy sound of the guitar on this song.

(awesome Sodom song)

Haven't you heard? That the bird is the word! biggrin.png

(other awesome Sodom song)

I've been listening to a lot of M-16 lately. That's some good shit.

I haven't been here to post prog in awhile, so Circus Maximus:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ey_8BHipdSc

and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Found these guys while clicking random links on Wikipedia and was glad I did:

While I'm here, what would you people say is the best Devin Townsend solo stuff? I just got Ocean Machine, but haven't listened to it yet.

EDIT: my battles against media tags continues >_<

I still think this is a solid album released. Wonder what happened to them after Being and Nothingness...

The general consensus is that you can never go wrong with Accelerated Evolution, Terria, and Ziltoid the Omniscient (but only if you're a big boy). Due to his genre diversity, it's totally up to your taste as to what you want to get.

Ambient: The Hummer, Devlab

Pop: Addicted and Epicloud

Calm Stuff: Ki and Ghost

Weird Stuff: Infinity, Ziltoid...

Heavy: Accelerated..., Ocean Machine, Terria, Synchestra

REALLY heavy: Deconstruction, Ziltoid, Physicist (but no one gives a shit about Physicist)

REALLY REALLY heavy: Anything from SYL

Heh, I was just thinking "Where's Strapping Young Lad?" until I saw that last column. Pretty crazy stuff, it's awesome how he can make something with kinda-clean vocals (sometimes) so heavy.

Is it bad that I'm surprised there are other brony metalheads?

Nope, you weren't the only one who was surprised

I was pretty surprised that the Metal thread had so much attention too

I guess I had thought this because there's more electronic music

In our fandom than any sort of metal/hardcore/rock bands

But it's cool to see a new guy here, hope you enjoy your time

In the best thread on this whole entire site

The prevalence of electronic music is probably due to the fact that we're ALMOST all nerds. Making electronic music isn't that hard to figure out for anyone who knows their way around a computer, which is a lot of bronies. You still have to be able to compose, but composing and learning to use FL Studios or Ableton Live is a lot easier than being able to compose, learning guitar/drums, finding a band, and recording stuff. Electronic is popular within our demographic, and is a lot more accessible than almost any othe type of music.

Yeah there is a lot more electronic music in the brony fandom for some reason, there needs to be more rock/metal!!! I've found some pretty great metal MLP covers though actually.

The most replied thread in probably all of Everfree Forest. I was surprised at first at how there was a thread like this when I joined. Grown so much...

Blut aus Nord had a pretty good concept going with the "777" series they did. I've listened to the first two albums from the series, "Sect(s)" and "The Desantification," and really enjoyed their blend of black metal with industrial metal (of all things). "Cosmosophy" is next, and I think that'll be great too.

Well, the most replies of a legitimate thread. A few forum lounge and forum game threads have way more. The GCT comes to mind.

Sorry, but I see a lot of impurities in this metal. Have you tried smelting it yet?

I'd say Ocean Machine is calm, if anything.
